148. I Looked Down at Metis and This Strange God

I Looked Down at Metis and This Strange God

His long silver hair shone

and his body moved

with an elegant lethality.

Something about him made me shiver.

A voice in my head whispered,

Harbinger of Chaos.

I tried to focus despite it. Dismiss it

the way a new oracle would dismiss

a prophetic warning as it was far too bleak.

The silver-haired God

swept Metis up in his arms,

and put his lips upon hers.

He then declared, his voice boisterous,

‘When I am king of the Gods,

I shall make you a golden throne

made from the blood of the old Gods.

Together, we shall watch them

beg, and plead, and burn.’

I felt a chill settle on my immortal heart

as Metis smiled at his words,

kissing him in return.

‘Zeus. King of the Gods.

Your name will be known across Chaos.’
