Epilogue

Floyd

I slide the cooler into the back of the truck before shutting it and turn to find my wife standing at the open door holding something white in her hand with a shocked expression painting her beautiful face.

"Hey, babe. Are you ready to head out?" I ask, itching to get down to the ocean so we can barbecue and see the fireworks.

"Not yet," Lexi says, a grin spreading across her lovely face.

"What's up, silly?" I say, walking up to her and wrapping my arms around my wife's body, pressing her against me.

She wiggles her arm free and lifts the white thing she is holding. I stare at it for a moment, my brain slow to process what I am looking at.

"Holy shit. Is that a plus sign?" I blurt out, grabbing the stick.

"That's a plus sign!" Lexi says, grinning up at me with tears in her dark eyes.

"We're pregnant?" I say, sounding like a fool.

"We're pregnant, baby!" she says, laughing as tears fall down her cheeks.

I lift her into my arms, spinning her on the front porch.

"Holy shit! We're pregnant!" I say again as she covers me in salty kisses.
