Chapter 55

CALLUM

This vixen is going to make us late to our own damn party.

When she ground her ass against me, I was tempted to bend her over the deck railing and fucked her until Nyx came running to see what all the screaming was about.

Unfortunately for my cock, we have one more room she needs to see before we have to get freshened up.

Nyx planned a small pre-grand opening/engagement party for our close friends and family. Kyra is going to lose her mind when she sees all of the Devil Dogs and the Girl Gang there. The guys’ group chat has been blowing up since we landed because David is freaking out seeing Molly again.

I have a feeling those two will end up together sooner rather than later. Now that Molly knows we take care of our own, and will take care of her, no matter if she’s single or with David. I really hope she gives the old man a chance.

After allowing Kyra a few more moments to explore the bedroom, I take her hand and lead her down the hall. Her giggles fill the space, and my cock hardens behind my zipper.

Fuck, I hate that I can’t break this place in.

“One more room, Sunflower. At least for now.”

We walk up to a shelf at the end of the hallway. Pushing a statue of a dragon backwards, a click sounds in the quiet house. I pull open the bookshelf to reveal a staircase. Reaching inside the doorway, I flip a switch, allowing the LED lights that line the stairs to light the way.

“Is this where you tell me you are a murderer and are going to lock me in your secret attic?” Kyra giggles. I resist the urge to bend her over my knees and turn her ass a brilliant shade of red.

We don’t have time for that, Callum.

“No, you know damn well that Nyx would have my balls gold-plated and hanging in the dungeon if I hurt a pretty little hair on your head. Ladies first.”

Holding an arm out to indicate for her to walk up the stairs, I follow behind her. Mentally slapping myself because I should have gone up before her, so I could see her face. But seeing as I haven’t seen the finished product yet, I wanted Kyra to see it first.

Her steps are hesitant as I watch her climb the stairs in front of me, trying so hard to not stare at her ass as she climbs. Giving her a light, playful smack on her ass, she speeds up. As soon as she reaches the top of the stairs, she comes to a complete stop. Kyra’s hands come up to her face.

“Sunflower?” I ask gently. “Do you hate it?”

“You built me a library?” She turns to look at me, and I just nod.

Climbing up the stairs fully to take in the space, the light is so beautiful coming in through the stained glass that is in the back of the house.

The walls are lined with bookshelves with all of her books from the pool house already on display.

Nyx hired a company to install a gorgeous rolling ladder that will span the entirety of her bookshelves.

I was almost going to skip this since I would love to be called to reach books from the top shelf for her.

Nyx slapped me upside the head when I told her that, reminding me that every bookish girl wants a rolling ladder in her library.

There is a giant oak desk in the middle of the room for her to work at, surrounded by her favorite things.

We also made sure she had one of the oversized reading chairs and some ottomans in a corner so she could curl up and read.

Once everything fully sets in for her, Kyra launches herself at me.

I catch her and stumble slightly. My knee is not ready for the sudden movement.

Carrying her over to the oversized chair, I drop her into it.

Bringing my lips to hers, deciding if we are a little late to our own party, they can get over it.

Kyra allows me to devour her mouth for a few moments before breaking the kiss. We are both breathless, just staring into each other’s eyes. I think she is in complete shock over everything. The cruise, the house, and all the things I did with her in mind.

“You did all this for me?” Her eyes shine in the dim light with unshed tears.

“No crying, Sunflower. I want you to be happy here and with me. You tell me your dreams, and I make them come true.” I kiss her on the forehead before I gesture to the library around us.

“While I will concede that this is all Nyx. She designed this space for you. I just had the idea to build you, your very own library. Now I just have to fill it with all your favorite books.”

Her lips crash to mine again. A hot need pulses through me before she stops the kiss just as abruptly as she started it. Kyra runs her fingers through the top of my hair with a smile that just won’t dim on her face.

“We don’t have time for me to show you my appreciation right now, but just know, Mr. Hutchinson, I will show you when we get home.”

“Yes, future Mrs. Hutchinson.” I laugh and help her stand up from the chair.

Amazingly, we are not late for our own dang party, but the parking lot is already filled with all of our favorite people’s vehicles.

I pull in next to Demitri’s all-black truck and take a deep breath.

While most of the design was completed before we left, everyone finished setting the store up for Kyra while we were gone.

Molly even helped plan a content-creator party for tomorrow, inviting all the big names in Michigan’s Booktok world to come celebrate the grand opening.

Climbing out of the truck, I cross over to Kyra’s door and help her get out.

Tucking her arm into my elbow, I lead her into the store with a smile.

As we approach, she sees the store lit up through the windows.

All of her loved ones were mingling around the shop.

Molly is standing behind the counter, pouring drinks for everyone.

“The shop is ready to open?” Her shocked voice makes me smile.

“The group wanted to get everything ready for you.” I hold a finger up to my lips. “Shhh. Don’t tell Molly I told you, but she even planned an influencer event for tomorrow night.”

“If I were one of those girls in my books, I totally would faint right now.” She playfully places the back of her hand on her forehead to “faint”.

I lead her into the store, the door opens with a chime, and everyone turns to face us and yells out "CONGRATULATIONS" all at once. Kyra starts to cry instantly. I know they are not tears of sadness, but still. Pulling her into my chest, I wrap my arms around her and show her all of the love I can.

Nyx runs up to me, where I have a crying Kyra wrapped in my embrace, and she pulls her out of my hold.

“What did you do to her?” Nyx snaps at me.

“Absolutely nothing,” I answer back.

“Nixie, stop. He didn’t do anything. I am just so overwhelmed by everything. The house, the store, this party. It’s a lot in one day.” Kyra pulls her best friend into a hug before Nyx drags her over to the counter, and Molly pours her a drink before coming around and hugging her.

All of the guys are mingling over in the corner, just watching over everyone.

I head over and give each of them a hug.

A chorus of congrats and back slaps comes from all of them.

Graham never fails to surprise me, and he pulls me in for a big hug.

Not one of those bro hugs where it’s some sort of handshake meets back slap, but a real big brother hug.

David runs over to the counter and grabs a beer from Molly before bringing it back over to me.

“I am so proud of you, Little Bro, I am so glad that you have found your one. The last year has been rough, but you have everything you could ever want now. I love you.” Graham has never been shy with his feelings, but this feels like so much more than his normal.

Clink, Clink, Clink.

I look to the center of the room and see Kyra standing there, radiant as ever, with her glass in her hand.

She is wearing a simple light pink dress with ruffles that make her look like a real-life Disney Princess in everyday clothes.

Her smile fills her whole face, and I am so lucky to be the one who helped put that smile there.

“I first want to thank my Devil Dog family for everything. I am not sure where I would be without you all.” She starts with.

“With a dipshit that no one likes,” Nyx calls out with a laugh.

“Oh, right, ya you are probably right.” Kyra laughs. “I cannot wait to see what the rest of this life will bring me, but I cannot wait to celebrate with all of you.” She raises her glass in a cheers, and the whole room does the same.

Taking a large swig out of my beer, I just smile. I can’t wait to love this woman forever and bring her all her dreams. She is my sunshine in the dark, and I never knew how much I needed that sunshine.
