8. Dream #3

“Just fucking do it!”

The twins exchanged a look, and Haze sighed. “Fuck it. But I don’t want to hear shit about me damaging your car!”

Oh, you’re going to hear all about it after this.

Kief’s driver inched closer as I tossed my handgun down and slipped on my mask and a pair of gloves from my backpack.

“Get ready.” Within minutes, the BMW was slammed back into the railing.

Haze spun the wheel, whipping the car around as we drove into the SUV, the two hoods meeting.

I took my chance and crawled out the back passenger window, then made my way onto the roof.

Kief watched me in horror as I carefully made my way down onto the hood of my car, aiming straight for him. “Reverse!”

Haze put the car into reverse and hit the gas, speeding backwards as I jumped forward, legs straight, and crashed through the SUV’s windshield.

I landed straight between the two, immediately swinging as my fist connected with Kief’s face.

I spun around and grabbed the barrel of the driver’s gun, flipped his arm back where he shot himself in the face.

He fell forward, sending the car swerving.

“Fuck!” I tried to grip the steering wheel and gain control, but it was too late.

The SUV swung wide, hitting the BMW as both cars collided and nearly went over the edge of the overpass. Sparks flew in all directions, the grinding sound of metal shrieking, and even with the earplugs, it made my head ache.

“Try to break free!” I shouted to Haze, hoping he could hear me. “Ahh!” I tried to take control of the SUV, but the dead driver was wedged enough that I couldn’t.

Kief groaned, his nose all bloodied from my punch. He reached down, then pulled a knife from his jacket.

“Kief! If you stab me, we both die!”

He raised it up, waving it around with a sickening smile.

“You only got one choice here, cousin! Save yourself or save them!” He pointed to my siblings and Dream, the three of them watching us closely.

“What’s it going to be?” he shouted. I looked straight through the BMW and locked eyes with Dream, noticing a bright pink flash.

Neither.

I smiled as she fired her gun, the bullet shooting straight through Kief’s hand, and he dropped the knife.

He shouted, clasping his hand as it bled down his arm.

“You fucked with the wrong family, cousin.” I yanked the steering wheel sharply to the right with a loud groan, finally breaking free from my car.

Haze quickly reversed the car and spun around, speeding off.

I tried to steer after them but when I went for the petal, my foot got stuck.

“Shit!” The car’s speedometer rose quickly and before I knew it, we collided back into the BMW.

The bumper was wedged into the busted trunk of my car, leaving us connected.

Goddamn it!

Dream stuck her head out the blown back window. “He’s going to pull off!” She pointed to the upcoming exit.

I nodded, looking back at Kief. He just watched me, disgruntled and bloodied. “You fucked up going after her.”

He smiled, revealing his blood-stained teeth. “Did I?”

Haze veered off, pulling the SUV along, but the bumper began to split, peeling from the car.

As it hit the road, it swung back and hit the tire, popping it instantly.

The SUV lost all control and spun. An oncoming truck T-boned the SUV and sent us rolling.

Glass and debris sprayed through the car as we tried to stay inside the vehicle.

My entire body ached from being tossed around.

Haze drove toward us, using the BMW to stop the SUV from rolling into more traffic.

The two cars collided with a loud crash, and everything halted.

Oh, fuck me…

Everything faded away and went black.

“Felix…Felix…Felix!” My eyes shot open at the sound of her voice. “Felix!” she screamed, tears in her eyes as I looked up to see her on her hands and knees, crawling toward me through the shattered windshield.

“W-where’s Kief?” I asked, blinking as my vision struggled to catch up to my other senses. I looked around, noticing he was no longer in his seat. “Where did he go?”

Haze sighed, smoking from his vape. “Fucker got away.”

Dream reached for me, tugging at my arms as she tried to pull me free. Her face and arms were all cut up and dirty from the wreck. Indigo and Haze, standing behind her, were no better.

“Give me your hand,” she whispered. I did as she asked, but no matter how much she tried, my foot remained stuck. Haze tried to help, but even with all three of them pulling, I couldn’t get out.

Sirens blared off in the distance, growing with each second. And I knew they needed to leave now. “Is the BMW drivable?” I asked, groaning at how sore I was feeling.

Haze and his twin exchanged a glance that told me everything I needed to know. “Well, you”—I pointed to Haze—“can’t be here. Take him home, baby sis. Dream, too.” She nodded.

I looked up at Dream, and her hazel eyes filled with fear. “You can’t expect me to just leave you here!” Tears then fell from her eyes. “You pinky promised!”

I reached out, gently brushing her face. “Trust me, everything is going to be okay.” I looked past her to the twins. “Get her out of here.” Indigo leaned down, helping Dream to her feet. They grabbed everything from the car, leaving Haze to make sure they left nothing behind.

“Haze.” He walked over to me. “Call Hui. He’ll know what to do.” He nodded, the sirens growing louder. “Go.” My brother hesitated. “Go!”

The three reluctantly began to sprint away, leaving me behind.

At least she’s safe.
