Chapter Thirteen
Tawny
Something to know about me. When I start sneezing, I have a heck of a time stopping. As in trying-to-set-a-record achoos.
On this particular occasion, I made a mental note to get a mask to wear while doing the heaviest dusting just to avoid the sneeze-palooza.
Tears poured down my cheeks as the next sneeze threatened to explode.
When I was a little girl, a mean kid told me a person’s heart stopped each time they sneezed.
Nothing scared me more until my mating day.
Of course, now I knew there was no way my heart stopped because if it did, I’d have been dead long ago.
Three large males filled the doorway, bringing back every ounce of fear I never wanted to experience again. Last time a trio of alphas crowded an entrance, they were there to do things I still didn’t want to think about. Wasn’t even ready to consider.
Sure, I knew about sex. How it worked and that an omega selected by or assigned to a pack could expect to have sex with each of them with the other two present.
It didn’t sound great to me, but I did understand my job.
There was no way around it, but walking into that big room, the same space that had hosted a baby shower the week before, and what came after… oh hell no.
My dreams had shown me what they intended, and my wolf and subconscious together believed the public assault would not have stopped with the pack taking possession of me. I’d have been left a shattered shell.
I couldn’t make out their faces through the dirt, and once again, my failure to get any kind of look at the ones who had planned to mate me left me doubtful. Not to say terrified. I kept away, stayed at the back, and tried not to sneeze.
Then I picked up my phone and called Janis. Voice mail picked up. “Janis,” I hissed, “there are three aggressive males pounding on the door. I can’t get a good look through the door, but they’re so big, and I don’t know what they want. Please send help!”
I hoped she’d get the message!
