Chapter 26
Chapter Twenty-Six
TECH
It had been a few days since we snatched Sire and his crew.
We had been holding them at the warehouse we use to take care of people.
The prospects had been watching them in shifts.
We didn’t want to take the chance that Sire might somehow get away.
I wasn’t about to allow him to slip right through my fingers.
I’d been itching to get to the warehouse, but Viper asked if I could hold off long enough to allow Cara’s swelling to go down. By the time we got back from the warehouse that night, her right eye was nearly closed.
Will had given me a full rundown of what happened that night. He was a little shook up. Naturally so, since he came very close to being burned alive. Every time my mind drifted to what could have happened, rage rose within me. That would have been the second time Sire took someone from me.
Only this time, I wouldn’t have survived.
Will was my soulmate. While I was happy Cody was alive, Will was the person I was meant to be with.
Last night, before I proposed, he confessed that he had been stressing himself out thinking I would leave him for Cody. I couldn’t believe he would ever believe something like that. I knew my past mistakes were contributing to his insecurities.
In time, I would show him that I was a man of my word. Nothing I had done that hurt him was intentional. I was stupid and made stupid decisions. All I could do was prove I had learned from the error of my ways.
“Babe, shouldn’t you be headed to the clubhouse?” Will asked, making his way into the room with Miracle in his arms.
“I’m just about ready,” I told him as I put my cut on. He walked over to me, and I wrapped my arm around his waist, kissing his pillow-soft lips.
He palmed my cheek with his hand. “I know you can't tell me anything that’s happening, but when you leave wherever you’re going, I want you to bury this and leave it in the past. I don’t want Sire to take presence in our life any more than he already has.”
I let his words sink in, and I couldn’t agree more. After tonight, I didn’t want to ever think or speak about Sire ever again. As far as I was concerned, he would be a figment of my imagination.
“You got it, Dimples.” I kissed him again before pressing my lips to Miracle's forehead. She started to reach for me, but when I didn’t pick her up, she began to cry. “I’m sorry, baby girl. I’ll be back. I promise.”
Miracle didn’t like my refusal, and she released a loud wail. She simmered down once Will began to hum a nursery rhyme. She turned her attention away from me to Will.
“Now get out of here before you rile her up again,” he ordered and started humming again.
I chuckled and hurried out of the room while she was distracted. Walking through the clubhouse doors, I saw that everyone was here waiting. Viper approached me, and I could see the fury in his eyes. I knew he was looking to get even with Sire, too.
“You ready?”
I nodded. “Absolutely.”
Viper turned to the group. “Let’s ride.”
Thirty minutes later, we were pulling up to the warehouse. Cara hopped out of her truck, carrying two very large briefcases. Normally, it was only one.
“I got a feeling Cara is about to do some crazy shit tonight,” Thor said, walking beside me.
Axel nodded his head in agreement. “I’m kind of scared for him. Did you see what he did to her face? I just know she’s about to be a mix of Pennywise, Freddy Krueger, and Michael Myers all at the same damn time.”
A few of us chuckled around the group. “And that’s exactly why I’m going to let her handle him. Whatever she comes up with will be far worse than anything I could think of,” I said.
A few of the brothers looked at me, stunned. “You don’t want to get payback for all he’s done to you?” Capone tilted his head to the side, watching me.
I shrugged my shoulders. “Torture really isn’t my thing. Now, I definitely want to be the reason he takes his last breath. Other than that, I’ll leave the rest to Bear, Sara, and Cara.”
As we made our way inside, Viper told Levi to go home. Once I laid eyes on Sire, a grin spread across my face. He was hanging from the ceiling by his wrists, stripped down to his underwear, while his loyal members were strapped to steel chairs.
Viper didn’t bother saying a word. He quickly made his way to Sire and unleashed a fury of blows.
He screamed in agony when Viper punched him in the ribs.
I’m pretty sure he broke a few. For about five minutes, Viper let out all his aggression as the disciples cried and whimpered through their gags.
When he stepped away, Sire’s eyes were closed shut, and his nose and mouth were leaking profusely. Viper turned to me. “Had to get that out of the way. The floor is yours, Tech.”
I chuckled as he slapped me on the shoulder. “Thanks, Prez.” I walked over until I was standing a few feet away from Sire. “My, have the tables turned.”
Sire spat a mouthful of blood to the ground. “Go ahead and gloat. Your time to pay for this will come. It’s bad enough you’re an abomination. But then you turned out to be a traitor as well.”
I cocked my head to the side, then I remembered the message he told Will to give me that day he choked him in the bathroom. “Ahh, yes. I got your little message. I’m curious as to what you think I did to betray you.”
Sire stared at me in disgust. “You know what you did. You sent those demons into my sanctuary.”
I swear, if we weren’t going to kill him, I would put his ass in a psych ward. “Demons? Sanctuary? What the fuck are you talking about?”
“You know what I’m talking about! Those agents! You were the one who got those devils to shut down my ministry.”
My eyes bucked before I fell out in laughter. He thought I was the one who went to the Feds.
I was really about to enjoy this.
I snatched Jason’s gag from his mouth. “I’m surprised you were able to keep a secret from your master all this time.” Jason appeared muddled. “You know what you did that night.”
I watched as he paled, his eyes wide. He subtly shook his head. That made me break out into laughter again. I knew, after everything he’d done, he didn’t think I was about to do him any favors.
“Come on, Jason. Let’s tell Sire that instead of killing Cody like he asked, you took him to your parents. I never spoke a word about what you all did to me. It was Cody who went to the Feds the day he turned eighteen.”
“What?!” Sire barked while glaring at Jason.
“I’m sorry, Master. He was my son. I couldn’t do it.”
I was itching to beat the shit out of him like Viper had done to Sire. The fact that he was apologizing for not killing his son was fuckin’ insane. I was convinced Sire was brainwashing their asses.
Rebekah began shouting through her gag. She seemed angry. I was curious to know what she was saying, so I removed hers as well. “What is he talking about, Jason?” she spat, sounding like she was possessed.
Jason sighed in defeat. “I know what Cody did was wrong, but… I just couldn’t do it, Rebekah.”
She glowered at Jason as if she hated him. “Why would you defy, Sire? He is our master!” she shouted like a deranged lunatic.
“No fuckin’ way,” I heard Cara say. I turned around and saw her watching the scene in amusement.
“What is it?” I asked her.
“She’s fucking Sire.”
“What?!” My eyes ballooned as I looked between Sire and Rebekah. Sire's face only gave away pain since he was still leaking blood everywhere. But Rebekah? She looked guilty as Jason tried to make eye contact with her.
“You’re sleeping with him?” Jason asked. He sounded genuinely hurt.
“Sir, I don’t know if you heard me, but I said they’re fucking. Trust me, there isn’t any sleeping going on between the two of them,” Cara said.
The room erupted in laughter at Cara’s comment. Leave it to her to dump salt on his fresh wounds.
“Why, Rebekah?” Jason had a few tears streaming down his face.
She lifted her head with pride. “He is my master. It is my job to make him happy and follow his word.”
I turned around, astonished by this confession. I saw most of the brothers were fully in tune with this show, like it was a fuckin’ soap opera. I thought we would come here and kill their assess and go on our way. I didn’t expect skeletons to come flying out of their closets.
“You know it makes sense your name is Rebekah,” Cara said to her.
Rebekah’s brows dipped in confusion. “You know, the wife of Isaac in the Bible. While she meant to do good, she was a trickster, a con artist, and a deceitful woman. She lied and connived her husband and manipulated her own children.”
Everyone, except her siblings, stared at her in shock. Cara didn’t necessarily give off religious vibes. Even Sire seemed blown away.
“Since when do you know the Bible?” Thor asked the burning question.
Cara rolled her eyes. “My nana made us go to church every Sunday. I learned a few things.”
I shook my head, completely over this entire situation. I had heard enough. “You know what, let’s get to what we came here for. Bear, Cara, Sara, do your thing,” I said and stepped aside.
Cara bounced on her feet. “It’s about time. This sappy shit was getting on my nerves.” Cara snatched her gun from the holster on her hip and shot Rebekah right between the eyes.
Jason let out a blood-curdling scream. “Rebekah!” he cried.
I was thoroughly confused about why he was so hurt. She just confessed to cheating on him as if it were nothing. He turned to Cara, fury swirling in his eyes. “Don’t worry. You’ll be joining her soon,” Cara said. Just that quickly, his face switched over to horror.
Sara approached Cara’s side. “We’ll get to him next. I want these two right now.” She pointed to the other two disciples.
Chills shot down my arm at the tone of Sara’s voice. While she was a natural sweetheart, pissing her off was a big no-no. She was worse than Cara once you crossed her. We often joked that Sara had to be a fallen angel.
