Lennox
Iread the article of the interview I didn’t fucking give. It's complete bullshit.
The conservatorship details were vague in nature and nothing about Luca or the incident was mentioned but there are still multiple so-called quotes from me.
Words that never came out of my mouth.
I continue to pace my condo as I’ve done all night. The half empty bottle of scotch is the only thing on the kitchen island. I grab it, pouring more of the amber liquid into my tumbler and take another swig.
I’m used to the burn now but it doesn’t matter. Nothing can feel worse than the searing pain of seeing Jace’s face as he read that headline.
He shut down completely. He didn’t talk to me. He didn’t even try.
I think that might have been the worst part.
After everything, he never even gave me the chance. I know he’s been burned in the past, he’s got some major underlying trust issues, but to fucking cast me aside putting me in the same category with everyone else. It fucking hurt.
It doesn’t matter though. None of it does.
I thought I was built for this. I scoff and shake my head.
Fucking Hollywood.
I’m not. I probably never was.
Picking up my phone, I mindlessly scroll through Social Share and another variation of the article comes up in the form of a video short.
“Bloody hell,” I spit out, tossing my phone aside.
Here’s a fucking headline for you: The spirited Lennox Rome has lost his spirit.
The one that finds humor and fun in all situations.
The one that loves openly. “Cheers, mate.” I tip my glass in the air to the naive fucker who thought he had a place in this world.
“Good riddance.” I down the glass and slam it on the Quartz countertop.
Grabbing my phone again, I look up flights and book the first one to London then text Graham.
Lennox: Getting the hell out of dodge. Heading to the airport. Text me if you need me.
Graham: Are you sure you want to leave now?
Lennox: Yes.
Graham: People will think you’re running.
I am running.
Lennox: I need a favor…
I tap the audio button and record a voice message detailing what I want him to do and send it off without a second thought.
He messages back immediately.
Graham: You’re not thinking straight.
Lennox: I’ve never been more certain.
I tap out of our conversation and look at my Casio. 6:35 p.m. It’s the middle of night in the UK and Bobby is probably leaving the bar.
Lennox: You still working?
Bobby: Aren’t I always, mate?
Lennox: Need a helping hand for a bit?
Bobby: No.
Lennox: Yes, you do.
Bobby: According to the paper, you should be working on the not-so-unrequited relationship you told me about.
Lennox: There’s nothing to work on.
Bobby: You’ve never been a liar, Lennox.
Lennox: I’ve also never been a thief, but you see how well that’s going for me.
Chat bubbles pop up and disappear. A minute passes, maybe two, and I just need to get away from all of this. Go to something familiar.
Lennox: I’m broken, mate.
Bobby: See you soon.
