3 Kayos

“Are you Leia’s contact?” I leaned forward, hearing Jericho fret over Turner in the back. Kashmir and Franco were handling the wound by applying pressure and keeping him stable until we made it out. Ryatt kept bouncing his leg because his anxiety peaked.

“No, our Omega is her contact, and our Alpha can’t say no to her.

You’ll meet Omega soon. We’re only a few minutes out from our compound.

” Raphael got us going, following a path less taken, but no one was near as we followed the river to the docks.

This part of the city had been abandoned years ago.

The buildings were in shambles, and the homeless rate overwhelmed the area.

Doing business over here became too risky because so many wanted to rob you blind.

I let my eyes take in the boarded windows and padlocked doors.

Some of the warehouses were even missing part of their roofs.

Trash littered the ground, and the docks never had working lights.

The waters were never safe on the river because that’s where families like mine dumped bodies and removed witnesses who were stupid enough to be out.

When Turner groaned and coughed up blood, Ryatt carefully moved to be with him in the back.

As his leading Alpha, our other suffering Alpha needed to feel his presence to help fight for his life.

I swallowed the lump in my throat, knowing Raphael said we were minutes away from help, but I wasn’t sure what help would be in this area of town.

Raphael pulled our car right in front of a building that was in the worst condition along the row of deserted factories.

With one simple nod to the homeless man in front of it, he got up and moved to open the door.

It wasn’t hard to miss my surprise, so Raphael smirked in the rearview mirror at me.

“Alpha built our empire right under everyone’s noses because he knew where the power in numbers resided. Welcome to the true Underground.”

Pulling in, we found tarps hiding what had to be other vehicles that had hanging lights blinking above them.

Camo prints hid them from the average eye, but I saw the faint edging with my keen eyesight.

Other homeless men gathered around our van, demonstrating the power in play, and we weren’t the Alphas in charge.

This felt almost criminal to be asking another pack to protect us.

Their scent wasn’t ours, and I was going to go mad in a place that smelled of someone else that didn’t belong to our family.

I was already losing my mind from how Leia evaded my questions and hung up on me. Part of me knew I wouldn’t like whatever she did to set us up, but we were alive for another day. My baby sister was just lucky I loved her like she’d been part of my pack.

“Are you ready to go and see the actual facility?” Raphael asked us.

Getting out, I was the anchor to support Turner as I opened the back of the van for Ryatt to hand him off to me.

I stabilized him enough to guide us both to follow the others down a secret staircase that Raphael revealed.

Hidden in plain sight, they went through some heavy measures to keep people from finding this place.

I couldn’t blame them with all the shit hitting the fan within the city.

“This way. We’re going into the throne room, and before the title of that makes you uncomfortable, just know it was made to do that.” The man smiled, showcasing how white his teeth were against his dark complexion. His features reminded me of someone, but I couldn’t quite place it.

Ryatt and Kashmir took the lead with Jericho right behind them.

Franco made sure to position himself behind our Omega to block him in if something were to happen.

I hobbled down the stairs with Turner as he groaned with every step.

His conscience was slipping, but I knew I had to get him down the stairs for an easier spot to lift him.

With me trying to rush, he caught onto why when he had to take a deeper breath to make him more alert.

“Fuck, man,” he hissed.

“Just a few more steps, Turn. You can pass out at the bottom but make my work a little easier until then.” Together, we slightly laughed at my tease, but it kept him going long enough to get down the dingy steps.

The cement walls were corroding everywhere in large circles, and the hanging light barely lit enough to see the next step.

No railing was placed, making my job and Turner’s a lot harder.

“This place is shit,” he grunted beside me.

“It keeps people out,” Raphael responded from his place up ahead where he knocked on a door. “If they saw what we did to the interior, they might try to rob us.”

With a glint in his eye, the door opened for us to see a redone hallway.

The walls were still cement, but they were cleaned and painted lighter to make the long hall look wider.

The ground had flooring placed on it to have white planks striping our steps forward.

Nothing else screamed money, but this clean appearance would attract certain people to venture deeper.

Keeping the outside looking destitute was wise, and no one had any idea this fortress existed.

We all moved as one group, but one of Raphael’s men brought me a wheelchair for Turner.

He plopped his big ass in it to let me push him behind the others.

Jericho kept looking over his shoulder at us to make sure everything was still okay.

I kept tipping my chin that Turner was fine, but I’d been getting worried.

Raphael noticed my fears as my friend kept fighting to stay awake.

“Our doctor will be meeting us in the throne room to take him back for care. Don’t worry, he’ll be in good hands soon. ”

“I’m fine,” Turner slurred, proving otherwise.

Two guards moved from their position in front of a double door, opening them when we got close enough.

Once inside, we found a large room with a long floor runner in crimson red.

It ran a far length, stopping in the center to show a golden throne.

It was massive and engraved in old symbols like it had been stolen from a tomb in Egypt. Part of me wondered if it had.

“I’ve radioed Omega, so she’ll be here in a minute to greet you into our home,” Raphael said.

“Your Omega?” Ryatt questioned.

“Oh, I forget you’re one of those packs.

” He casually pointed at how we centered Jericho within a fighting circle.

“Omega is the second in command in this place, and you’ll always go to her for things.

Our Alpha likes to remain hidden with his identity for reasons I cannot say, and he trusts his Omega because she’s proven herself to be ranked as his second.

She doesn’t take too kindly to this type of conversation, so don’t bring it up again. ”

That last part wasn’t a request. I wondered what they had done to people who did question her abilities.

It didn’t take long for us to hear the faint tapping of heels clicking over the floor.

Our eyes carried around the throne to see someone we never expected.

My stomach dropped, and my ears began to ring.

There was no way this was real. There was no way this could be Kit.

Marching to the throne area. She gave us a saucy smile, dressed in her lingerie silks and a weird robe.

Her tits bounced with every step because they weren’t in a bra.

Her nipples were pointed, and I could scent her recent orgasm as she neared.

Her hair was still the color of night, and I knew I’d never breathe right again after this encounter.

Blood splattered over her chest, and I could smell the coppery tang it left.

I also caught her new scent, but my nose didn’t like it.

Probably because it wasn’t my scent on her. “Hello, boys. Long time no… see.”

She purposefully worded it like that because of how our history played out. Kit had been our Omega, but we hadn’t marked her when we left for private school states away. Now, she belonged to someone else, and she’d never know I came back for her only to find her gone.

Walking over to Raphael, she studied him to make sure he was okay, telling us they were in the same pack.

“I’m fine, I promise,” he murmured.

“You know I have to make sure for myself.” She smiled, lovingly. “Anything I need to know?”

“Just got word Sam is tailing whoever paid the exit a visit. He hid out of the way but was able to follow to a bar so far. I’ll update you when I know.

” Kissing her cheek, he left us with that crazy bit of news and made his way to stand next to the throne.

She went to sit on it once he confirmed he was fine.

I finally noticed Anika on her right, and I finally figured out why Raphael looked so familiar. He was Anika’s brother.

“Guys, I think I might be dying,” Turner wheezed. “I’m seeing Kit, but I know it can’t be.”

“You’re seeing me, Turntable.” Snapping her fingers, a doctor was with her, but I overlooked him when I saw her first. He rushed over with two nurses and began wheeling him off, taking the handles from my grip.

When I went to follow, she raised her hand to stop me.

“They are taking him to our medical bay where they’ll prep him for surgery to remove any fragment pieces.

When he wakes, you’ll be the first to know.

We have all blood types on deck, if he needs a transfusion as well. ”

“Kit,” I whispered, unbelieving all of this. I thought our lives were over from losing the house, but this took the cake. I still loved the woman sitting before me.

“Omega,” she corrected. “Everyone here has titles when placed within the inner circle.”
