Chapter 12
The car ride to Carly's house was silent, except for her sniffling.
I hated seeing her cry but I didn't know how to stop it. She looked terrified. I'm not exactly sure of what she was so afraid of, I just hope it's not of me because I need her to know that I would never hurt her.
I probably do look scary now because my wolf is trying to come out and it's getting harder for me to control him. I can't help it, someone has been hurting my mate and I need to make sure he never does it again.
Finally, I pulled up to her house.
"Stay in the car." I ordered her. Maybe I said it a little too harshly because it just made her cry harder and I started to feel like a dick.
"Please stay in the car. It'll be safer in here." I told her softly. This time she nodded her head. I gave her a gentle kiss on her forehead before going outside.
I strode up to the front door and let myself into the house.
There was a startled noise that came from the living room. I followed the noise hoping it would lead me to my mate's abuser.
Sure enough, I found her brother in the living room.
I could definitely tell that they were related.
They had the same glossy black hair and emerald eyes, except his eyes weren't pretty like Carly's were.
His eyes were cold and full of hatred. He was tall, probably only about an inch shorter than me, and he was very muscular but I knew that I was still stronger than him.
"Who the fùck are you?" He asked. He wasn't quite drunk but he reeked of beer.
"I'm Carly's boyfriend." I told him.
He laughed in my face.
"That's funny." He said still laughing.
"I wasn't joking." I deadpanned. That got him to stop laughing.
"You gotta be ?hittin' me. There's no way anyone would actually want that bit?h." His comment made me growl.
"I beg to differ." I gritted out my teeth trying to hold my wolf back. I couldn't kill him, not yet.
"She may be wh?ring herself all over you, but trust me, I know you can get a way better lay than her." He said.
First, he laughed in my face. Then, he called my mate many disrespectful names. Lastly, he suggested that I be with someone other than her. I had no more self control after hearing what he had to say about Carly. I let my wolf come out to deal with him.
I lunged at him and pinned him to the floor. Repeatedly punching his face until he managed to kick us off.
Both of us were on our feet again and he swung at me but I smoothly ducked away and wrapped him up in a headlock. He elbowed me hard in the gut which made me let go.
But I wasn't finished yet.
I grabbed the collar of his shirt and slammed him into the wall, then switching directions, I threw him onto the coffee table which ended up breaking under his weight.
I quickly came over to him and wrapped my hands around his throat. His face was changing colors from not being able to breath. He clawed at my hands making them bleed but there was no way I was letting go.
Until Carly came in.
She was crying and screaming at me to let him go. She jumped on my back, grabbing my shoulders, and trying to pull me off of her brother. I don't understand why she was defending the one who caused her so much pain but I got off of him anyway to make her happy.
He began rolling on the ground, trying to catch his breath. I ignored him thinking that he wasn't a threat anymore.
I turned to Carly.
"I told you to stay in the car." I said.
"I know and I'm sorry. I couldn't let you kill him though. He's hurt me in the past, but he's still my brother and some of the only family I have left." She said sadly.
"Ok, but you can't stay with him here anymore. It's not safe." I told her.
"Alright. I get it. Just-" She was cut off by a loud gunshot.
I turned to see her brother on his knees with a gun in his hand. I was so stupid for leaving him alone. How could I be such an idiot?
I went and tackled him to the ground taking the gun out of his hands throwing it across the room so that it was out of his reach.
I couldn't trust him enough to keep him alive. I snapped his neck so he couldn't hurt her anymore.
I got up and walked over to where Carly was lying on the floor.
Her hand was set on top of her side and it was covered in blood.
