Chapter 34- The Silver Awakening

Marcus attacked with everything he had.

The dark wolf hit Jay like a battering ram, knocking the Blackridge Alpha backward across the road with brutal force. The two wolves rolled across the dirt, claws tearing and snapping as they fought for dominance.

Emily felt the impact through the bond.

Jay's pain.

His fury.

His determination.

Her wolf roared inside her chest.

Silver energy surged violently through her veins.

Something was changing.

The power she had been feeling since the first shift was growing stronger. Sharper. Warmer.

And now it felt like it was reaching outward.

Emily staggered slightly.

The ground beneath her feet seemed to vibrate.

Marcus struck Jay again.

Jay snarled.

But Marcus was relentless.

The Bloodfang Alpha drove forward with brutal precision, forcing Jay backward step by step toward the edge of the clearing.

Emily's wolf surged harder.

Protect.

The word echoed through her mind.

Silver light flickered across her hands.

Marcus noticed.

Even mid-battle.

"Yes," he growled.

"Show me."

Emily's control snapped.

The silver wolf burst free again.

But this time something was different.

The transformation felt deeper.

Stronger.

Her fur shimmered brighter than before, almost glowing beneath the forest canopy. Every sense sharpened beyond anything she had experienced before.

She could hear every heartbeat in the clearing.

Every breath.

Every movement.

Marcus lunged again toward Jay.

Emily intercepted him.

The impact shook the ground.

Marcus staggered.

For the first time since the battle began...

The Bloodfang Alpha looked surprised.

Emily's silver wolf towered over him.

Her claws glowed faintly with silver energy.

Marcus stared.

"The legends were true," he whispered.

Emily struck.

Marcus barely avoided the blow.

The silver claw tore across his shoulder and sent him stumbling back several steps.

Jay rose beside her.

The two wolves stood together.

Black and silver.

Marcus's wolves hesitated across the clearing.

Bloodfang warriors were beginning to retreat.

Even they could feel it.

The balance of power had shifted.

Marcus snarled.

"This isn't over."

Jay's wolf stepped forward.

"Yes it is."

Marcus lunged one final time.

Jay met him head-on.

Emily moved with him.

Black and silver wolves struck together.

Marcus crashed to the ground.

Hard.

For a moment he didn't move.

The clearing fell silent.

Bloodfang wolves backed away slowly.

Marcus lifted his head.

His eyes burned with hatred.

"You think you've won."

Jay stepped closer.

"Yes."

Marcus laughed weakly.

"This war is bigger than one battle."

Emily stepped forward.

"And you just lost the only one that mattered."

Marcus stared at her.

Then slowly...

He shifted back to human form.

Blood covered his shoulder.

But he still smiled.

"You'll see."

Jay raised a claw.

Emily held her breath.

But Marcus suddenly whistled sharply.

Bloodfang wolves surged forward again.

Not to fight.

To grab him.

Smoke bombs exploded across the clearing.

Gray fog filled the road.

Emily lunged.

Too late.

By the time the smoke cleared-

Marcus Vale was gone.

The forest fell silent again.

Jay shifted back beside her.

Emily returned to human form seconds later.

They stood in the middle of the battlefield together.

Blackridge and Moonfall warriors gathered around them.

The war wasn't over yet.

But one thing was certain now.

Marcus Vale knew exactly how powerful the silver wolf had become.

And next time...

He wouldn't underestimate her.
