Chapter 5 Waking in Hospital

I bought a ticket and rushed back to Shanghai without stopping.

During the flight, I developed a fever.

When I got off the plane, my vision went black, and I collapsed on the jet bridge.

When I woke up again, I was in the hospital.

My childhood friend Zhao Yu sat beside me, taking my temperature.

"Why are you here?" I asked, rubbing my temple.

"I didn't want to!" Zhao Yu sneered. "The airport people called down your recent contacts. Only I picked up!"

I was silent for a while, then thanked him. "Thanks!"

Zhao Yu held my boarding pass and said sarcastically. "Tsk, flying over fifty hours round-trip to Vancouver during Spring Festival. Zhou Chengting, you really love Lu Huaichuan."

"But it seems Lu Huaichuan doesn't care much..."

Although Zhao Yu always spoke harshly, today I was exhausted physically and mentally. I had no energy to argue with him.

I interrupted him. "I broke up with him."

"But the one loved is always fearless—wait, what did you say? Broke up?" Zhao Yu's eyes widened, as if in disbelief.

I sighed and nodded.

"He dumped you?" Zhao Yu raised an eyebrow.

I nodded, then shook my head.

Zhao Yu pressed. "What do you mean? Who wanted to break up?"

"I proposed it."

As soon as I said that, I wasn't sure if it was my imagination, but I felt like Zhao Yu couldn't help but smile.

Although he never liked Lu Huaichuan, as my childhood friend, his gloating expression was too obvious.

I punched him weakly. "I'm broken up, at least comfort me a bit."

"How do you want comfort? My shoulder?" Zhao Yu exaggeratedly pulled me into his arms.

I punched him again. "No thanks. Go buy me some food."

"What food? You're awake, let's go home. I'm happy today and will cook for you personally."
