Chapter 10 The Post I Saw
I just hadn't expected Lu Huaichuan to turn the tables on me.
He actually asked me, "What more do you want from me?"
I looked at the aggressive Lu Huaichuan in front of me.
I also wanted to ask him the same thing.
After a long pause, I sighed and lowered my eyes. "Lu Huaichuan, I saw that Post."
"What Post..." Lu Huaichuan began, then suddenly stopped.
His face turned pale.
He opened his mouth but no words came out.
I smiled self-deprecatingly and finished the words I hadn't spoken that day.
"Lu Huaichuan, we've been together for seven years. I know you far better than you think."
"You thought you hid your impatience so well, but I could always tell."
"Sometimes I wondered how it was so coincidental that the algorithm pushed your Account to me."
"I couldn't even deceive myself anymore."
"Do you know what hurt me most about that Post?"
"It wasn't your change of heart, but that you thought if I brought up Break Up, I would retaliate against you."
"You still don't understand me enough."
"Lu Huaichuan, I did give you some help over these years. You don't need to belittle yourself."
"You are such a dazzling person. That's why I noticed you at first glance in the crowd back then."
"Even without the help I gave you, you would still shine brightly."
"Even if you weren't my lover, I would still admire you and be willing to support you."
"That day when I said we should Break Up, I was actually downstairs at your place."
"I looked at the light in your window for four hours."
"In those four hours, all I could think about were the beautiful times we shared in the past."
"I believe you put effort into this relationship too."
"So I never thought about it, and I absolutely would not retaliate against you."
"I saw that girl."
"She looked very cute. I hope you treat her well."
"Thank you for accompanying me these seven years. I wish you all the best in the future... everything you desire comes true."
Lu Huaichuan listened to my words and stayed silent for a long time.
Then he took a deep breath and spoke in a deliberately relaxed tone. "Alright, it's good that we cleared things up."
"It seems I overthought it. I didn't expect you to be so understanding."
"Then I also... thank you for taking care of me all these years, in the future..."
For some reason, I felt a slight tremble in his voice.
"In the future... can we still be friends?"
I shook my head and rejected him gently but firmly.
"Why?" Lu Huaichuan asked. "Didn't you say you don't hold a grudge against me?"
I said softly, "Lu Huaichuan, if you really loved someone, how could you still be friends afterward."
"It's getting late, and there are no extra rooms at home, so... I won't keep you."
Lu Huaichuan's back seemed a little lost and dejected.
When he went out, he even almost tripped over the low stool by the door.
The moment the door slowly closed.
Lu Huaichuan suddenly turned back and looked at me.
I wasn't sure if I was mistaken, but it looked like his eyes had reddened.
