Chapter 11 A Sweet Distraction

I closed the door. As soon as I turned around, I almost bumped into Zhao Yu.

"Zhao Yu, what are you doing?"

Zhao Yu snorted twice. "I was wondering how long you were going to stand there reluctant to let go."

I kicked him. "Say that again and you can get lost too."

Zhao Yu slipped into the kitchen and took a piece of lemon cheesecake from the fridge.

"Come try it. I just made it this afternoon. I stole the recipe from a Michelin chef back home."

I raised my hand to check the time. It was eleven at night.

"You're making me eat sweets at this hour?" I asked with wide eyes.

Zhao Yu clicked his tongue. "What, are you a grown man afraid of getting fat?"

Then he looked me up and down. "In my opinion, you should gain a bit more weight."

"Am I afraid of getting fat? I'm afraid of three highs."

"It's fine. Eat a little. Sweets help produce dopamine." Zhao Yu forced the spoon into my hand.

"I just saw your expression and thought you were about to cry."

This idiot.

I hadn't planned on crying.

My nose suddenly felt sour.

I viciously scooped a spoonful of cheesecake and put it in my mouth.

Zhao Yu watched me with a smile the whole time. "Is it good?"

Me?

"You didn't even try it yourself and you're using me as a poison tester?"

"How is this using you as a poison tester? This is me having confidence in my skills."

I really wanted to roast him, but the cake was actually delicious.

And with Zhao Yu bantering beside me, I didn't feel that sad anymore.

I nodded. "Yeah, it's pretty good."

"Really?" Zhao Yu raised an eyebrow. "Let me try."

With that, he grabbed my wrist and ate a bite from my spoon.

Wait.

Zhao Yu. You straight guy really don't consider our feelings as gays at all.

But if it weren't for the fact that we've been playing together since we were kids.

I would have suspected you were trying to kiss me indirectly.
