Chapter 16 The PDF
Overseas, I threw myself completely into work.
Once someone got busy, all that love stuff seemed less important.
The next time I heard anything about Lu Huaichuan, a friend forwarded me a PDF.
"Zhou Chengting, looks like Lu Huaichuan got reported to his company."
I clicked into the PDF and realized it was written in the voice of that girl in the black down jacket.
It started by accusing Lu Huaichuan of being gay but pretending to be straight, deceiving her feelings.
I thought she would focus on how Lu Huaichuan had deceived her feelings,
what losses it caused her,
and what she wanted.
But after that came huge chunks of screenshots—Lu Huaichuan’s chat records with me, and all kinds of photos together.
The more I read, the more wrong it felt.
On the surface she looked like she was accusing Lu Huaichuan, but in reality she kept writing about how my past with Lu Huaichuan had been.
She even ended with a line: 【Anyway I only dated him for three days. I didn’t get scammed out of money, and I didn’t get scammed into sex. I even got a KELLY. But I hope he can face his own feelings and stop coming out to harm people.】
I searched the online public opinion. It was almost completely one-sided sympathy for me.
Even stranger, Lu Huaichuan went straight on his main account and fought with netizens head-on.
He listed every good thing he had done for me, saying that even if his motives weren’t pure,
he had never wronged me, and everyone had no right to judge him.
A highly upvoted reply said: "I feel sorry for his seven years; your words are still trying hard to prove you love him."
I felt like it was getting weirder and weirder, so I found that girl’s Xiaohongshu Account
and sent her a private message.
She added me very quickly.
The first thing she told me was: "The PDF wasn’t written by me."
From her, I heard a different version.
She said Lu Huaichuan was her crush.
When she chased him for a month, Lu Huaichuan agreed to try dating her.
But on the third day they dated,
Lu Huaichuan confessed his orientation to her.
She said she really was shocked then, but thankfully her feelings for Lu Huaichuan weren’t deep.
It was more admiration than anything.
And once they started dating, she felt Lu Huaichuan was pretty boring—either reading research reports or writing code.
Plus when Lu Huaichuan broke up with her, he gave her an Hermes gift, so she didn’t fuss about it.
Originally they had ended things peacefully.
Who knew that half a month later, Lu Huaichuan suddenly asked her to spread a PDF under her name.
She said: "Actually, I can understand what he wants to do. He’s using an extreme way to show everyone your love story and trying to win you back."
"That’s why the PDF felt so weird. It’s practically your love memoir. And the parts involving you are almost all positive. And while he’s getting cursed out by netizens, he thinks he’s atoning, and at the same time gambling on some sympathy from you."
"Of course I don’t really understand this kind of gay love-hate epic thing between you guys."
"But I think he underestimated how much he cares about you."
"If possible, I think you should talk to him."
The PDF really did trouble me.
I didn’t like having my feelings spread online for people to point at and judge.
Just as I was about to ask Lu Huaichuan out to talk, I received his call.
He said, "I’m in Paris. I want to meet you."
