Chapter 15 He Admitted It
Zhao Yu quickly confirmed my guess.
He gave a bitter smile. "When did I ever say I was straight?"
"Back in high school, I asked you what you thought about that music CP."
"I was focused on studying back then. I hadn’t figured anything out yet!" Zhao Yu answered through clenched teeth.
"Didn’t I later ask you to watch gay movies with me?! What straight guy asks someone to watch gay movies?"
I choked for a second and shot back unwillingly, "Didn’t you say those were free tickets?"
"I thought you just felt like it’d be a waste not to use free tickets!"
Zhao Yu looked so mad he was about to spit blood. "Then in college, I was at your place every day, stuck to you like glue, and you didn’t notice anything?"
"Back then I thought you were straight. I didn’t dare think in that direction at all..."
"Then why didn’t you tell me back then?"
Zhao Yu said, "I planned to tell you."
"I was afraid a normal confession would feel too casual, so I even prepared a little ceremony."
"But before I was ready, you got together with Lu Huaichuan."
After Zhao Yu finished, both of us fell silent.
After a long while, Zhao Yu asked carefully, "Then now... what do you think?"
I sighed. "Sorry. Maybe for a while I..."
"Stop! Cut it out!" Zhao Yu said. "How about this—you just pretend you don’t know about this. We’ll still get along like before, okay?"
I shook my head. "That’s not fair to you."
Zhao Yu said, "Who cares? I’m willing. Is that not okay?"
It wasn’t okay.
Zhao Yu was the only person in this world who was closest to me.
I didn’t want to hurt him.
And I wanted even less to let him down.
So before I completely figured it out, I didn’t want to give him too much hope.
In the end Zhao Yu still couldn’t argue me down. The next day, he flew back home.
Before he left, he asked hesitantly, "Can I still stay at your place? My villa is too far from work. I really don’t want to wake up early!"
Maybe it was rare to see him act pitiful for once.
Even though I knew it was his excuse, I still couldn’t help agreeing.
