Chapter 27
Molly
I smile as I finish my montage, once again featuring my boyfriend as the leading driver.
Another win in Hungary, and he’s all set for taking home this title after the summer break.
When reporters first started speaking about the possibility of winning the championship so early, I didn’t think it would be possible.
Formula 1 can be so unpredictable.
Audi and Peter have pulled through in every way, and now the title can be his.
I can’t wait to hear his thoughts later on the montage.
I shut down my computer, bracing for the heat outside.
Budapest has been hot, and I’ve been grateful to sit inside in an air-conditioned room for most of the day.
When I step down from our trailer, strong arms envelop me, and Peter mutters a “Hey baby,” before I’m drenched in cold water.
I try to get out of his hold, but he keeps me locked to him as Luke and Jessica spray us with their water guns.
I start laughing as Peter spins me around, and when I feel his wet clothes across my back, I realise they must have had some fun waiting for me to get done with work.
As I look at Jessica and Luke, I see that they’re also drenched in water. Ryan comes running with a bucket, and I once again try to get out of Peter’s hold, but to no avail.
The water splashes us, my clothes sticking to my skin as it drips down my top.
At least I didn’t have to suffer in the heat.
“I hate you,” I mutter, but my smile is big as I turn in Peter’s arm.
“You actually love me,” he says, his own smile matching my own.
I sigh, taking in the scene around me.
My friends, my boyfriend, and our world are merging together perfectly.
“Yeah, I do.”
~
I bite my lip, my nerves high as I think over this present.
Is it too much?
Too bold?
God.
I don’t think I’ve ever been this nervous about a present, but I guess it’s also a great deal of excitement.
He’ll be happy.
Hell. I know I’m excited for this.
But shit, it still feels a bit scary.
And new.
I turn over the brand-new iPhone in my hand.
Okay.
Just get it over with, Molly.
I look up at the mirror in front of me, the colour of my pink bikini popping against my tan skin.
As promised, Peter jetted us straight to an island for a vacation as we finished up the first half of the Formula 1 season.
We’ve been here for around a week, and in a few days, Jessica, Luke, and Ryan are joining us as well.
Which is why I need to get on with this present.
We need privacy for this.
I bring the phone with me outside to the dock where Peter is currently lying, his posture relaxed as I sit down on the edge of his sunbed.
“I have a present for you,” I tell him.
Then I hold out the phone towards him.
Peter sits up before he scrunches his eyebrows together, probably confused by why I would give him a phone, when he’s got the newest one which is working perfectly.
Being the perfect boyfriend he is, he gathers his expression before he pulls me in for a kiss.
“Thank you, baby.”
I chuckle at him.
“It’s not a regular phone. It has no accounts or anything. I thought we could use it to record some…things,” I say.
God.
I don’t even know why I’m feeling embarrassed by this. We talk about sex all the time.
When understanding dawns, Peter’s eyes widen before a wolfish grin appears. “Hell. This is for us to record us fucking?”
I can always trust him to find the right words when I get timid.
“Yeah,” I say, and all my worries disappear as I see his excitement.
I’ve never thought about recording myself having sex, but I’ve been wanting to do it with Peter.
“Holy hell, Molly. I’ve turned you into such a bad girl,” he says before he captures my lips with his teeth.
I push at his chest, making him fall back on the bed before I start kissing his throat and down his body.
“Gotta match my bad boy boyfriend.”
~
“Is it rude for me to say that I kind of wish our friends were coming later?” I say to Peter.
We’re enjoying a candlelight dinner, our last night alone before the others arrive tomorrow. Even though I’m excited to see them, I’m also becoming just as big a clinger as the man in front of me.
Being the two of us has been wonderful.
“Baby. You know I’m right there with you, but I do think we’ll have a good time socializing a bit. Not just fucking and making porn.”
I snort before we start laughing.
There’s been quite a lot of that.
And even though we’ve enjoyed every second, he does have a point.
Some socializing will be good.
“How are you feeling about Miami?” I ask Peter.
Miami will be important in many ways. He can secure the championship title there.
And we’re going to visit his mom and her family.
I don’t know which one he is more nervous about.
“That’s still weeks away,” he says, obviously not too keen on speaking about this.
I know he struggles when it comes to his family.
But I also know it helps him to speak about it.
He’s told me so himself, even if he finds it hard. Especially, since he’s so used to keeping it all in and to himself.
I give him time, not wanting to pressure him to talk if he doesn’t want to, but also leaving the opportunity out in the open if he does.
He lets out a long breath.
“It will be weird as it always is. But it does feel better knowing you’ll also be there and not going alone.”
I grab his hand, squeezing it in my own as I look at him.
“I’m very proud of you, you know. You could have given up that relationship a long time ago, considering everything. But you didn’t. And that’s one of the many reasons I love you,” I tell him.
Peter may have a tough exterior, especially to the outside world. But the many layers of this man are everything and more. And I hope that he’ll truly believe that himself one day.
We’re getting closer each day, but in moments like this, I can feel his struggles of accepting that he’s done the right thing and more.
“I love you too, baby.”
~
“I still can’t believe that whole thing,” Jessica says, nodding her head towards the living room and the boys playing FIFA.
“It’s perfect if you ask me,” I say.
Peter, Luke, and Ryan are playing and messing around whilst Jessica and I are fixing our nails the best we can.
The island doesn’t have a salon to get it done professionally, so we thought we would give it a try ourselves.
They’ve been here for the last three days, and even though I didn’t want to burst my bubble with Peter, it has been wonderful to spend time with our friends.
The fact that we get to do that together—the guys enjoying their time together just as much as we—feels even better.
When I look over and see her design, slightly more classic and traditional than the ones she’s been having, I raise an eyebrow.
“You expecting a ring on that finger?” I ask her, my voice low so the boys don’t overhear.
“I honestly don’t know. He’s been very secretive lately. I do want to be prepared with some beautiful nails if he does pop the question,” she says.
Jessica and Luke have been together for well over a year, and I could see him proposing to her pretty soon.
You can never know with these men though.
I look over to Peter, thinking back to our talk about kids.
I wonder if he’ll want to get married someday.
It’s probably way too early to be thinking about this, but I guess when you know, you can’t really stop the thoughts from appearing either.
“What about you?” Jessica asks me, a knowing smile on her lips as she caught me looking wishfully at my own man.
“We haven’t even been officially girlfriend and boyfriend for more than a month, so calm down, girlie,” I tell her, which makes us chuckle.
“Oh, please. You were his the moment he replaced Jeremy on that date.”
I smile, because I think she might be right.
That night was everything and more.
