Chapter 39 #3

I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the perfect expression while trying to push him back and get my legs down. “I can do it. You don’t have to do it all.”

He just gripped me tighter and pushed in harder while shadows wrapped around my legs to keep them securely locked around his waist. “This is concrete. You’ll hurt your knees.”

I licked along the seam of his mouth and barely managed to answer, “I don’t mind.”

“I do,” he murmured back between kissing my mouth and neck.

The current position had him reaching so deeply that I quickly lost the ability to argue.

I dropped my head, staring up at the night sky with completely different kinds of stars dancing in my eyes as they rolled back.

I moaned as Xander’s thick cock plunged in and out at a tempo that had my toes curling and pleasure building.

“So,” I gasped, “good.”

“Yeah, you fucking are,” he grunted, leaning his head down to suck my nipple into his mouth. “You’re so good, baby.”

“Close,” I panted as I wrapped my arms tightly around his shoulder and kissed him harder. “I’m close.”

He squeezed my ass harder. He brought me down onto his thick length in deep, fervent thrusts while curling and flicking his tongue along the tip of my breast. “Cum for me. Let me feel you shatter on my cock.”

That was exactly what I did. An explosion of ecstasy burst through me, and I arched into him with his name upon my lips.

No sooner had I stopped quaking in his arms than he began thrusting anew with a vigor that told me he was chasing his own release now.

I grabbed his face and kissed him as deeply as he pumped into me.

He moaned against my tongue as warmth flooded my insides.

I shivered in delight at the sensation and sank myself as far down as I could get to keep him fully seated inside, cum and all.

“Don’t pull out,” I gasped and pressed our foreheads together. “Biluo might spill.”

His onyx eyes widened. I’d expected him to chuckle with affection since that kind of line about our make-believe child had always been his, yet he looked as though I’d slapped him across the face.

Before I could ask him what was wrong, he dropped his head into the crook of my neck and squeezed me close.

Shadows enveloped us, and when they cleared, I found us in Xander’s apartment bedroom, still in the same position, only in the center of his bed now.

His room looked exactly as it had the last time I was here—dark bedding and sleek furniture.

Only one thing stood out. Nightly, the large bat plushie he’d won for me, sat in the chair in the corner of the room.

The sight of him and the realization that Xander never got rid of him only served to make my heart squeeze harder.

Did he have more of my things still hung up in his closet or stored somewhere for safe keeping? Had he really been holding onto hope that one day I’d come back and forgive him for breaking his final promise?

Xander gently guided me onto my back without ever leaving where we were connected.

I stared up at his handsome face, which had gone soft with devotion and maybe something a little sad, too.

He braced his forearms on either side of me while leaning down to kiss me slowly.

His hips moved again, and as night gave way to day, we didn’t stop.

All night, the two of us fumbled, touched, kissed, and worshipped the other.

It was like we were catching up on all the moments we’d missed during our time apart, which I knew was my fault.

After what happened at Terrance’s wedding, I just lost myself to fear all over again, and I used Xander breaking his promise as an excuse.

But I was done with those excuses. I didn’t want to see Xander with such a sorrowful expression on his face anymore.

Our hands were woven together in front of me as Xander pounded into me from behind. I stared at our interlaced fingers while another orgasm shot through me. I squeezed his fingers tighter from the burst of pleasure but also with a silent promise to myself and him.

No more running.

Once we set the ghosts trapped under Mountview free, I’d tell Xander how I truly felt about him, how I’d always felt about him. I’d tell him I wanted to be together if he was still open to the future we’d talked about.

I panted hard from exhaustion and neverending pleasure, but swirling amid those two things was a slight, nagging worry.

I couldn’t help but notice the unease in Xander’s body as he rolled me over only to kiss me and begin his thrusting again.

That same somber flash briefly creased his brow before his eyes closed out their truth from me.

Tonight was making up for the time we’d missed.

Tonight was the beginning of a new, clean chapter for us, even if he didn’t know my plan yet.

He only knew me as a flight risk, and the closer we got, the more I pulled away.

But he always held on until the last second, gripping open air even after I’d been long gone.

So why did it suddenly feel like tonight wasn’t a new beginning but a final goodbye?
