16. Dario

DARIO

I groan as I pump my fingers in and out of Liana’s parted lips. She’s so fucking hot like this, when she submits, when she gives in and lets me take control.

But now, she wants a piece of the power back, and I’m helpless to stop her. I remember what her mouth feels like, hot and tight and wet just like her cunt.

Who could say no?

So I remove my fingers from her mouth and let her push me down onto the bed. I settle back against the headboard, my breath already harsh.

My dick aches as she wraps her fingers around my base, stroking up slowly.

I speak through gritted teeth. “Don’t tease.”

She pouts, her breasts bouncing as she settles herself between my thighs on her stomach, idly playing with my balls as she looks up at me with hot gray eyes.

“You’re no fun,” she says, but she takes me into her mouth anyway, licking a stripe up the underside of my cock before enveloping me.

I choke out a moan as I hit the back of her throat and she gags, her eyes streaming tears. Liana’s a trooper, though, doesn’t miss a beat even as my hips thrust up. I fuck her mouth and she just takes it, gasping in air through her nose.

“Fuck, I could come like this. Make you swallow every drop,” I murmur, taking her hair in a loose ponytail and making her bob her head.

She moans weakly around me and I hiss when her tongue works around the head of my cock.

I tug her hair to pull her off and she moans again, louder.

She licks her lips when I come out of her mouth, panting. She places herself up on all fours, facing away from me so all I can see is her glistening pussy.

“Fuck me from behind, Dario. Make me yours.”

“You’re already mine. You’ve always been mine,” I tell her, and I fucking mean it. No matter what she’s got going on now, no matter how much she hurt me, she still feels like mine.

And I won’t let anyone touch her. Especially not fucking Benedict.

I shouldn’t want to physically hurt him as much as I do. After all, he’d simply asked her to dance, but I know what he was thinking. I know he saw her in that dress and wanted her.

But he can’t have her. No one but me gets to touch her. My Liana. My wife.

I line up behind her with a grunt, pushing into her slowly. When I bottom out, her walls flutter around me and I bite down on my tongue to keep from coming right there.

“Oh, fuck,” she moans, rolling her ass back, fucking herself with my dick, and I watch her, rapt as her ass jiggles.

“Look at what a slut you are for me,” I murmur, my head spinning despite the fact that I’ve only had two drinks. “Fucking yourself on my cock. Does that feel good, baby?”

“Yes,” she groans. “Would feel better if you’d fuck me hard and dirty like you used to.”

A smirk spreads across my face. “All you had to do was ask, belissima.”

I take hold of her hips, pounding in and out of her, and she cries out. I feel it when she starts to orgasm, the way she clenches around me making me grit my teeth so hard my jaw aches.

I manage to fuck her through it before thrusting deep and spilling inside her, kissing along her spine before I straighten up.

She collapses on the bed, plopping face down and I can’t help but smile at her.

I adjust myself and head into the bathroom in the bedroom, grabbing a cool cloth and returning to wipe her down.

“I have to get back into my dress now,” she says with a frown and a pout, and I laugh out loud.

“I’ll help you.”

“You’d better. This is all your fault, you know I like it when you get possessive.”

“I’m always possessive,” I admit, and she chuckles.

“Yeah. You are. A little birdie told me you weren’t like that with anyone else.”

I shut my mouth with a click.

“I haven’t been.” My voice goes quiet and vulnerable, and that’s Liana’s cue, I guess, because she gets up and wiggles her dress back on.

“Help?”

She turns around and I lean down to kiss along her shoulders, freckled from the sun. After sex is the only time she’ll let me touch her.

I zip up the dress and it’s like a tiny arrow has pierced my heart when she walks out into the hall without another word.

I draw in a deep breath, rubbing a hand across my face, and wait about ten minutes to follow her.

She’s saying her goodbyes to Aunt Liza when I make my way over.

“And you’re going to have some girls, right? There’s only boys in the Conte family, other than Beth,” Liza says.

Liana just smiles.

“That’s the plan, but if I end up with four boys it’s your fault.”

Aunt Liza cackles and Liana makes her way over to Vincenzo as I kiss my aunt goodbye.

We meet up at the car, and when she gets inside, she’s silent all the way home.

I don’t know what to say to her.

I actively wanted to kill my cousin, who I’ve always been close to, just for touching you. I want you so badly I can’t think of anything else. I want to kill your ex for leaving you and Sonny.

I fucking love you.

I freeze as the last pops into my mind.

No. No, I don’t.

I’m just confused by the sex and how good she was with everyone tonight. And her body still sings to mine. That’s all it is.

She gets out of the car and looks at me expectantly, but I just wave at her. The fake shipment is tonight, and I need to know who, if anyone, shows up.

I try my best not to think about Liana when I drive up next to Giovanni, ditching my car to get into his since it’s less conspicuous.

“You ready for this, boss?”

“Ready as I’ll ever be,” I say grimly as we drive up the hill toward the warehouse.

“Fuck,” Giovanni says as he crests the hill, and I follow his gaze.

Fuck, indeed.

Sirens are everywhere—four cop cars, the S.W.A.T team, everything. All the bells and whistles.

“It’s family.”

I grind my teeth until my jaw aches.

“Just park. I’ll talk to Dick."

I get out of the car and hold my hands up high.

Dick Spears turns around and huffs out a breath.

“You again."

“One and the same,” I say cheerily. “But you see, this was a false alarm. A test, if you will.”

“A test?”

“To see how fast your boys can get here if I need you.”

His face turns sour. “We're not your puppets.”

“Aren't you?" I murmur, stepping closer to him. I reach into my back pocket and grab a money clip full of cash, pressing it into his hand.

“Don’t do this again,” he says, and I give him a sloppy salute.

I walk back over to Giovanni’s car and get in.

“Let's go home and talk about this.”

“Alright. Rocco will meet us there.”

Sure enough, after Giovanni drops me at my car and we head back, Rocco is pulling up. I lead the two of them up to my office. Once the door closes, Rocco sighs.

“So we were right."

“Unfortunately,” Giovanni mumbles.

“Since you've got about a million cousins, we need to narrow it down.”

“What about Dante?” I ask, just throwing a name out there.

Giovanni snorts. “There’s no way. Too stupid.”

“Armando? Like, for revenge?” Rocco suggests.

I shake my head. “No. He’s been quiet ever since I took his pinky.”

“Were they able to reattach it?” Giovanni asks.

“Hell if I know.”

Rocco snorts out a laugh. “He's too busy partying to plan something like this, anyway.”

“What if we’re barking up the wrong tree?” Giovanni suggests with a frown. “What if it’s not a man at all?”

I raise my eyebrows. “What, you think Aunt Theresa did this?”

Rocco’s eyes widen. “Shit, maybe. She’s taken over for Uncle Roberto, hasn’t she?”

“Why would she? She’s got more money than God,” Giovanni points out.

I shake my head. “It can’t be her. She’d just talk to me if there was a problem. We’ve always been close.”

Giovanni stares at me for a moment. “What about... Beth?”

I scoff. “Beth? You mean the little girl who used to cry when I pulled her pigtails?”

“I mean, she’s got a motive,” Rocco points out.

“What, because I was mean to her when she was fifteen? Not much of a motive.”

“It’s really all we have,” Giovanni says, and I groan, rubbing a hand across my face again.

“Alright. Fuck it, set up another meet. Only let it get back to Beth.”

“Another fake one?” Rocco asks dumbly.

“Of course, a fake one,” Giovanni snaps.

I wave the two of them out of my office. I don’t want to think that it’s Beth doing this, that it’s any member of my family, but I can’t think of any other explanation at the moment.

Giovanni and Rocco leave and I stand up, heading downstairs to get something to eat. I didn’t eat anything at the party and now my stomach is growling.

I almost walk past them on the couch before I realize that Liana and Sonny are sleeping. Sonny’s head is in Liana’s lap, her head lolling back against the couch cushion.

The television is playing some cartoon movie about a kitten and a dog.

I stare at them, forgetting my stomach for too long before I clear my throat. I walk over to her and brush a dark curl back from her face.

“Li?”

She wakes—not a heavy sleeper like me—and yawns. “Oh, fuck. What time is it?”

“After two in the morning.”

“Jesus.” She stretches without disturbing the sleeping boy in her lap. “Thanks for waking me, my back would have been killing me.”

She stands up, grunting as she scoops Sonny up in her arms. His legs are so long they nearly dangle to the floor.

“Let me,” I murmur.

“He’s getting too big,” she says, and I wonder what Sonny’s father looks like. I grit my teeth against the jealousy that rages through me even thinking about it, just hefting Sonny up in my arms.

I take him to his bedroom and she smiles as she caresses his face.

“Thank you,” she says quietly, and I just nod, my throat feeling tight.

I walk out and back downstairs, making myself a sandwich and pouring another glass of scotch.

I’m a fucking idiot.

I’m in love with her. Maybe I never stopped being in love with her. And sleeping with her has only made it about a hundred times worse.

And now I can’t stop thinking about her ex, about how it happened, where he touched her. Did she like it? Did she come?

I slam the empty glass down on the bar and call Giovanni.

“Boss? Can’t sleep?”

“I’ll sleep when I’m dead. Listen, I found out Sonny’s birthday. I thought it might help you get a line on who his father is.”

“Are we still—”

“Yes,” I bark. “I want you to find out everything you can about the birth. The father. Liana wants to have a party for him on Saturday, and I think he’s five, so just go back five years.”

“Alright, boss,” Giovanni says, sounding tired.

Maybe he’s right. Maybe this whole thing is stupid. Even if I find Sonny’s father, what do I plan to do to him?

Nothing legal. Nothing good.

Not only did he touch what’s mine, he left her when she needed him most. Abandoned her. Something I would never, ever do.

He deserves everything that’s coming to him.
