Chapter 85 Living Gem
Reiya had taken her time getting dressed and fixing herself up perfectly.
When she got out of the shower, both men were gone.
She was sure they had matters to attend to for tonight.
It was almost like what a human wedding would be.
They would be binding themselves publicly for all eternity.
She was a bit nervous, but she was also excited.
She wasn’t anxious about being his, just the public spectacle of it all.
She put on a shimmering ebony dress that ran to the floor.
On either side were high slits up to her upper thighs.
She also wore her hair up, since this made the most sense, given what was going to happen.
She looked herself over in the mirror. For once, she looked like one of the girls that was dressed to impress.
She hoped her looks would be good enough to meet the dragon’s expectations for Lee’s mate.
She shrugged her shoulders slightly and sighed.
“Well, this is as good as I get.” She then pushed the door open to the common room.
Brody and Chelsie were sitting on the couch, both of them also dressed nicely for the evening.
She looked at her brother and noticed a small glint in his eyes.
He was up to something. Whatever … she wouldn’t press him over it.
She would find out soon enough, she was sure.
“Oh, Reiya. You look beautiful. If only your mother could see you!” Chelsie gushed as she grabbed Reiya’s hands.
“It’s probably a good thing. I wouldn’t really want my parents to witness what’s about to happen.” Reiya scrunched her nose up and Chelsie giggled, nodding her head.
“I think your daddy would go on a killer rampage.” Chelsie laughed as Brody walked up beside her.
“Dad will be fine with him being your mate, but he would not want to see his daughter marked. As far as he’s concerned, if you ever get pregnant, it will be because you climbed on top of yourself and got pregnant.” Brody chuckled and Reiya rolled her eyes.
“Yeah, but he would be high fiving any of his boys for impregnating their mate. Such a double standard.” Reiya smiled and sighed. Her daddy had always been more protective of her. That was just how he was.
“Are you nervous?” Chelsie asked with wide eyes.
“Well … I mean, I am already marked. So it’s really just a formality. Like already being married but then having a ceremony. I guess I’m a bit nervous for the dragons’ approval, if that makes sense.” Reiya bit her bottom lip.
“You have nothing to worry about there.” Lila’s voice rang out as she entered the upstairs rooms. Ruby had also followed her up. “The dragons accept you as Leviathan’s mate.”
“Not to mention they are too terrified of Leviathan not to accept who he tells them to. Seriously, though, we just came from the gathering crowds. They all seem excited for their deity to have taken a mate. Everyone has gathered early, wanting to get good seats for tonight.” Ruby smiled and walked closer to Reiya.
“Most of the dragons are very interested in what your children will be for the dragon kingdom.” Lila said with a small giggle. “They like the idea of Leviathan spreading his seed with the fairy princess.”
“Oh wow, they want me pregnant already?” Reiya nervously chuckled and shifted to the side slightly.
“Don’t overthink it. They want me and Ruby pregnant like yesterday.
” Lila giggled and shrugged. “It isn’t happening, though.
Not yet. I want to have some more one-on-one time with Xander.
Kids will come in time, but I want to make sure we have a good relationship and that we understand each other.
I know from my parents that kids never fix a problem, they only make it worse.
So, make sure you iron out all the wrinkles you can.
I just want to make sure Xander and I are on the same page with life. ”
“Mason and I have been wanting to be with each other for so long. I don’t think we’re going to try for kids, but we aren’t going to not try either.
We’re just going to let things happen for us.
We’re all about enjoying life and everything that comes with it.
” Ruby looked Reiya over and smiled warmly at her.
“You look absolutely breathtaking. Our deity hit the jackpot with you.”
Reiya’s cheeks heated and she looked down, a bit embarrassed. “Thank you, but I’m the one who’s lucky.”
“Right, and that’s why he’s the lucky one. You’re incredibly modest. It’s sweet. Uhm, Brody? You’re needed down there. You will find the guys out near the party tent.” Ruby looked at Brody, who gave her a knowing look.
“Okay. I’ll see you out there,” Brody said, kissing Chelsie on the side of the head before quickly heading down the stairs.
“Now, what was all that about?” Reiya looked up at Ruby and Lila, who only smiled and shrugged. She then glanced at Chelsie, who looked just as confused as she did.
“If you’re ready, the Great Sage is waiting for you,” Lila said with a small smile.
“Oh, he is? Yeah, I’m ready.” Reiya smiled, thinking about the older man. She wondered what he wanted.
Reiya carefully descended the stairs. It was a much longer walk in her outfit, but she finally managed.
“He said he’d be waiting for you in his library. We’ll wait for you in the great hall.” Ruby motioned for Chelsie to follow them. Chelsie seemed a bit hesitant, but once Reiya nodded to her, she went with them.
Reiya slowly opened the door to the library. She looked toward the desk and saw the old man was already standing up to greet her. “Come on in, my dear. Come on in. I’ve been waiting for you.”
Reiya smiled and entered the room. “You wanted to see me?” she asked quietly.
“Yes, yes, yes. How are you feeling now?”
“Much better. Thank you for the healing drops. They helped.” Reiya smiled with gratitude.
“Anything to help you, my dear.” The old man walked up to her and opened his hand. In his hand was a blue sapphire necklace. “This is for you. It is a symbol of your connection with Leviathan.”
Reiya gasped as she touched the swirling blue gem. Its color was so deep and entrancing. It was like staring into the bottom of the ocean. “Really? I can have this?”
“Yes, this pendant was made for Levi’s mate. It’s as old as time.” Grandpa Sage watched as she placed it around her neck. It sparkled brightly and almost seemed to glow. “It looks happy to be with its rightful owner.” His eyes smiled as the gem twinkled slightly.
“Happy?” Reiya looked down at the shimmering jewel around her neck.
“Mm-hmm, indeed. This gem is a living gem. You can tell it’s happy to be with you.” Grandpa Sage nodded his head in approval.
Reiya lifted her new necklace. She wasn’t sure what it meant for the gem to be living.
She couldn’t tell what its feelings were, but if Grandpa Sage said it was happy, then it must be.
She lifted the gem up a bit higher and let the light play off of it.
It was then that she saw something in it with her fairy sight.
She stared at it in confusion, then looked up at the Sage, who watched her curiously.
“Grandpa Sage, there’s ... is there a fairy in this gem?!” Reiya asked in shock. She watched the old man smile at her curiously.
“Interesting, isn’t it? Interesting that Leviathan’s gem contains a fairy in it. As if it was always known from the beginning that you would be his mate.” His eyes lit up in amusement as he watched her expression.
“You knew it had a fairy in it?” Reiya studied his eyes.
“Not that I could see it, but my oracle abilities told me.” Grandpa Sage watched Reiya with interest. “It’s a sprite that has become one with the gem. So this is why it’s called a living gem … because the gem has a life force inside it.”
Reiya let the necklace rest around her neck again. “You think I was always meant to be Lee’s mate?”
“I’m certain of it. I think a goddess with much better prophetic ability was able to foresee this. Back when this gem for Leviathan was created …” He looked at her, seeing the wheels turn in her head. He appreciated how quick she was with her thinking.
“Are you saying a certain Moon Goddess knew about all of this?” She watched as the man smiled widely.
“I always love it when the pupil is smart. It saves me time explaining things.”
Reiya felt the sides of her lips pull up. She was always destined to be Lee’s mate. Lee was hers before she was even a thought in this world. He had always been hers. She also knew that if a sprite molded its life force into the gem, the gem would have a power or an ability.
“Do you know what it is? The gem’s ability?” Reiya asked as she reached up to touch her necklace.
“No, but I’m sure you’ll find out soon enough.
You being the true owner and all.” The Sage appreciated how keen she was.
She already knew that the gem held some sort of power.
He had no idea what it was or how strong it was, only that it was something special that would only work for Leviathan’s mate.
“It has been passed down through every Great Sage for generations. Leviathan entrusted it to one of them, thinking he would never have a mate to give it to. I’m sure he will be pleased to see it again, and around your neck. ”
Reiya smiled and nodded. “Thank you for keeping it safe. I will take good care of it.”
“And it will take care of you as well.” Grandpa Sage lifted his hand and motioned for her to follow him out of the room.
“I will see you at the ceremony, my dear. This is an event that I wouldn’t miss.
A once in a lifetime opportunity. This is a part of dragon history, and I can’t wait to witness it. ”
Reiya thanked him once more and then left to find the ladies who were waiting for her.
Reiya’s great grandmother had also molded her life force to something for a greater purpose. She gave up her life force, becoming part of the living barrier for Elysia in order to strengthen it. This made the barrier incredibly strong.
She wondered what the purpose of the sprite in the gem was. There must have been a reason that the sprite chose to mold its life force with it. What type of power might it have?
In any case, it was incredibly special. Not only was it a living gem, but it was also Lee’s gem.
It was the gift he was to give his mate.
She smiled softly as she walked down the hall.
What were the odds that there would be a sprite in her gem?
She was always meant to be Lee’s mate. All that was left was for her to mark him and accept him as her fairy prince.
They would be the future rulers of Elysia, and she would be blessing Lee with the gift of fairy sight.
Since everything was out in the open now, she wasn’t going to hold back anymore either.
She would never take another mate besides Lee.
She would mark him and bestow a new power upon him.
She wondered how much stronger it would make him, since he was already a strong deity.
She smiled as she saw the three girls waiting for her up ahead. Soon … soon, she would see Lee, and he probably had no idea what was about to happen during this ceremony. The Great Sage was right. She would be making history tonight.
