Chapter 22 The Pitiful Man
The newly moved-into house was spotless, and the clean refrigerator was completely empty.
When Kendall came back, she made a detour to the supermarket downstairs and bought two big bags full of daily necessities, groceries, and all kinds of seasonings.
She lived on the eleventh floor, and Kendall had planned to take the elevator. But when she stood in front of the elevator door, she suddenly stopped. She still had a lot of criminals to catch, and she couldn't count on being this lucky every time.
Even though the frying pan she got from the system's lottery was very useful, she couldn't relax her physical training.
Kendall weighed the bags in her hands and turned towards the stairs.
'Physical training starts today! I should also get some combat lessons!'
Kendall carried the two big bags of stuff from the first floor to the eleventh. Her steps were light and powerful, and her breathing was even, which showed she still had a lot of energy.
The system saw how easy it was for her and was happy.
> [Host's physical strength is so good!]
The better Kendall's physical strength was, the higher her chances of winning a fight against a criminal would be.
The more missions Kendall completed, the more rewards the system would get.
Besides Kendall herself, the system was the one who wanted Kendall to have a healthy body the most.
"Is my physical strength good?" Kendall opened the door with her fingerprint.
> [Yes! I just scanned you, and your physical strength is 9.5. The average physical strength for a woman is between 3 and 6, and for a man, it's between 6 and 8. The Host's physical strength can almost crush a grown man!]
Kendall carried her things into the house.
Hearing the system's happy voice in her mind, she couldn't help but think about some things.
Kendall was born with great strength. When she was on her own, a kind construction site owner gave her a meal.
Kendall, who was only sixteen at the time, repaid the favour by carrying bricks.
In one afternoon, she did two day's worth of work for a grown man. The owner was stunned.
Kendall was always happy about her strength.
But one time, when Diana bought an expensive piano for Mia, the movers accidentally dropped it as they were bringing it upstairs.
Kendall, who was standing nearby, quickly reached out and steadied the piano, saving it from hitting the worker and possibly getting damaged.
After she had steadied the piano, Kendall and the workers carried it to the second floor without a single scratch.
The workers were grateful to Kendall, but the Hansen family, who had watched from the living room, were disgusted. They thought Kendall's brute strength was vulgar. A pampered socialite shouldn't have so much strength.
A delicate girl like Mia, who was raised by the Hansen family, couldn't even open a jar. She had a refined life. On the other hand, Kendall didn't have the air of a pampered princess. She was even mixing with the workers. She was a born commoner, not at all noble.
Kendall suddenly chuckled. She was foolish before, blinded by their prejudice. But life had already shown her that she and the Hansen family were not the same.
The phone on the table suddenly rang. Kendall looked down and saw it was a call from an unknown number. She swiped to answer. "Hello?"
"Hello, is this Miss Kendall?" A gentle male voice came through the phone.
Without waiting for Kendall to answer, the man continued, "I'm a staff member from Orange Entertainment, and I'm also the producer for '30 Days of Survival'.
I apologize for the interruption, but I was wondering if Miss Kendall is available?
We would like to invite you to be a guest on the eighth season of '30 Days of Survival'. "
'30 Days of Survival?'
'30 Days of Survival' was a reality show on Orange Entertainment that claimed to have no script.
It put celebrities and ordinary people in a place to live for 30 days.
It showed the audience what happened during those 30 days.
It was also the first survival show in the country to have both celebrities and ordinary people.
'30 Days of Survival' had a season every year and had been on for seven years.
Some celebrity's careers had been ruined after going on the show, while some ordinary people had become top stars through it.
You could imagine how popular the show was.
Kendall stared at her phone, confused and skeptical. "Is this for real? Why are you inviting me?"
The man said seriously, "Of course, it's real. If you don't believe me, you can come to our office this afternoon. Our address is at the Orange Building, near the Orapolis Broadcasting Bureau."
"As for why we're inviting you, it's because someone sent me a video of you."
Kendall asked, "What video?"
The man seemed to remember something, and his voice held a hint of a smile. "The video of you kicking the Hansen family into the water."
Kendall: "..."
She had only kicked Mia and the others into the water once yesterday afternoon.
At the time, all she could think about was how she was going to die from her illness soon.
Before she died, she had to embarrass the Hansen family to make them mad, or it would be a huge waste.
That's why she had kicked Mia and the others into the pool in front of everyone.
There were so many people there at the time, so it wasn't a surprise that someone had recorded it.
The people invited to Mia's celebration party were all from the entertainment industry, so it wasn't strange that the video ended up in the hands of a producer.
The man praised her. "Miss Kendall's aim was great, and she's very strong. She fits the survival theme of our show perfectly. Besides, Miss Kendall is so controversial online. Don't you want to use our show to clear your name?"
Kendall thought of something and suddenly asked, "Mia will be there too?"
The man was stunned for a second, then admitted truthfully, "Yes. Not just Mia, but also Mr. Liam and Mr. Jasper will be there."
Liam, her trash second brother. Jasper, Mia's trash fiancé.
Kendall was just worried about not having a chance to get revenge on Jasper. 'Well, here's my chance.'
Kendall made up her mind. "I accept your invitation. I'll be on the show."
The man didn't seem surprised by her decision and even gave Kendall some good news. "Miss Kendall, this season's show will be both live and pre-recorded. If you're serious about this, please make some time to come to the Orange Entertainment Building to talk about the contract."
"Okay."
Around three or four in the afternoon, Kendall took a taxi to the Orange Entertainment Building and met with the producer of '30 Days of Survival', Simon.
The two quickly came to an agreement on salary and other matters.
Kendall looked at the brand-new contract, confirmed it was all correct, and signed her name on it.
At a five-star hotel, Assistant Miller, an assistant to the Sinclair family looked at the man who had been standing guard in front of the elevator for over half an hour and said helplessly, "Second young master, where are you going?
It's already dinner time. Your mother will worry if you don't go back. "
The man ignored him. He looked down, holding on tightly to the small night light in his hand, and didn't move.
