Chapter 23 The Third Mission Is Released

Even though Kendall signed a contract with '30 Days of Survival', the show won't begin filming for another two weeks. This means that during these two weeks, Kendall must complete more system tasks to ensure her life count is more than a month.

That night, Kendall used her free time to binge-watch old episodes of '30 Days of Survival'. She found that the production team was a little twisted. They would either put all the guests in a rural village or on a secluded island. One time, they even took the guests to a deserted desert.

Because of the contract's restrictions, the production team wouldn't reveal any information to the guests before filming started.

This means that the guests themselves didn't even know where the team was taking them!

The director once told the media that '30 Days of Survival' had a zero-script policy and was all about being authentic!

Otherwise, several celebrities wouldn't have had their careers ruined in the first few seasons of '30 Days of Survival'.

But the more twisted the rules the directors made, the more the audience loved to watch, which led to a straight rise in viewership for the first few seasons.

Even though more than one celebrity had their reputation ruined on the show, many still rushed to be on it for the fame.

Kendall had Mia to thank for being on this show.

Simon was a smart businessman. He had a keen eye for the unspoken drama between Kendall and Mia.

Plus, Kendall's infamous online reputation would bring a lot of controversy to the show.

Controversy brings traffic, and traffic brings viewership.

No matter what happened, the production team would be the biggest winner.

Kendall had never wanted to be in the entertainment industry before, otherwise, she wouldn't have so firmly rejected the director of 'The Spring Palace' offer, and she would have signed with a company by now.

When Mia had slandered her twice before, many agents had reached out to Kendall, offering her a chance to be in the industry.

Although Kendall had a bad reputation online because of Mia, being infamous was still a form of fame!

In the entertainment industry, people aren't afraid of being criticized, they're afraid of not being criticized at all!

At the time, many agents wanted to sign Kendall, but she had rejected all of them.

Kendall opened YouTube, planning to search for show reviews to see how celebrities acted on reality TV.

She set the playback speed to 1.5x and started watching from the videos with the most likes.

In the videos, the celebrities all had perfect makeup and seemed to be getting along. Kendall even recognized two of them.

One was Mia's friend in the industry, Lily, who often visited the Hansen family home.

The other celebrity, Cora, was also a popular rising star.

Kendall had heard Lily badmouth Cora to Mia more than once.

Sometimes, when she was angry, she would even say profanities, which showed how much Lily disliked Cora.

But in this show, Lily and Cora were calling each other 'sisters' and seemed to be getting along so well, it was as if they were sworn siblings.

Kendall was instantly bored and started to feel sleepy. Just as she was about to fall asleep, the system's voice suddenly rang in her mind.

> [Ding! Task target detected. Please expose the criminal's crimes to the public as soon as possible!]

The sudden robotic voice startled Kendall. She hadn't even gone outside or met anyone. Where did this task target come from? Was there another accident nearby?

Kendall quickly opened the system's task details screen.

Criminal's photo: [picture.jpg]

Criminal's name: Lily

Criminal's crime: From 2016 to 2020, exploited legal loopholes to evade taxes, totalling 98.6 million dollars.

Criminal's hideout: Pearl Villa Complex

> [Low-level task, no time limit. Reward: +12 days of life.]

Kendall: "Huh???"

At first, Kendall didn't react. After she understood the literal meaning, she stared at the criminal's picture on the screen and laughed. "System, is this for real?"

> [Of course, it's real!]

The system said confidently. The Host could question anyone, but not its work ability! Everything it detected was one hundred percent real!

Kendall didn't expect to get such a surprise from watching a show review. The reward for this task was more generous than the two tasks she had completed before. However, even if there was no reward, as long as she had enough life, Kendall wouldn't just ignore it.

People who break the law to harm the country's interests should be punished by the law.

Kendall looked down, thinking deeply. For tax evasion, she would have to report it first, and then the government department would have to investigate it.

But it wasn't easy to report it. Even though she knew about Lily's tax evasion from the system, she had no evidence.

"System, will you provide the evidence for Lily's tax evasion?"

> [Host, that cannot be provided.]

> [The ledgers, tax returns, financial statements, tax records, and contracts that might be needed to report the crime are all private to Lily and her company. The system cannot break the law to catch a criminal.]

Kendall: "..."

'You've already said the exact amount she's evaded in taxes, and you're still talking about privacy?'

However, when she saw the task reward, Kendall had already guessed that the system wouldn't provide evidence, so she wasn't surprised by its answer.

The system seemed to know that this task was a little difficult for Kendall and comforted her.

> [Host, don't be afraid. This is a low-level task with no danger, so there's no time limit. You can also do other tasks while investigating this one.]

"Oh," Kendall nodded in understanding. "I can do other tasks at the same time?"

> [Yes, yes, yes.]

The system nodded repeatedly.

> [The Host can do up to five tasks at once.]

"Okay, I got it. Thank you," Kendall said, a little relieved.

Personal taxes were a very confidential matter, and after committing tax evasion, Lily would only hide the relevant evidence even more carefully.

It would be extremely difficult for Kendall to find the evidence by herself in a short amount of time.

Being able to do other tasks gave her some breathing room.

However, when she looked at the task reward on the system's screen, Kendall was a little greedy. 'Twelve days! And there's no danger. Who wouldn't love a task like that?'

Kendall opened her computer and started searching for information about Lily. She focused on finding information about Lily's business partners from 2016 to 2020, the years she evaded taxes, as well as tax filings for Lily's personal studio.
