Chapter 24 The Fourth Mission
The next morning, Kendall, dressed casually with a black mask and a baseball cap, and with a backpack on, went out.
She had spent a long time on her computer yesterday, checking the tax information of Lily's personal studio, and she had found a faint clue.
However, this kind of highly confidential information wasn't easy to find, so Kendall wasn't in a hurry.
Seeing that her life count was about to drop to a single digit, Kendall searched the system's panel and accepted another mission.

Criminal's name: Helen
Criminal's age: 47
Criminal's crime: From 1995 to 2023, trafficked 127 children.
Criminal's hideout: 109 Ruby Road
> [Time limit: 3 days. Reward: +12 days of life and +200 karma.]
This was the first time Kendall felt angry just by looking at a criminal on a screen. Being a woman herself, she knew that every child's birth was a great expectation and blessing for a family. Every child was a treasure in their parent's eyes.
Helen was 47 years old and had been a professional child trafficker for 28 years, with a total of 127 children trafficked!
This meant that at least 127 families had been torn apart because of her selfish desires. When she first trafficked a child, she was barely twenty years old! Her crimes were unforgivable!
Kendall pursed her lips and left with a cold expression.
Ruby Road was in another district of Orapolis, far from where Kendall lived. Even driving there would take more than two hours. Kendall took a taxi to the subway station, thinking she should probably buy a car for transportation.
Just as she entered the subway station, her phone in her pocket rang. Although it was an unknown number, Kendall recognized the familiar 152 prefix and had a feeling she knew who it was.
As soon as the call connected, Mark's clear voice came through the phone. "Good morning, Miss Kendall."
"Good morning, Officer Mark," Kendall replied.
Mark didn't think much of it when he greeted her, but after
Kendall replied in the same formal way, he felt that their conversation was a bit stiff.
Mark cleared his throat. "I'm sorry to bother you so early. Have you had breakfast?"
"It's no bother," Kendall said, standing at the entrance of the subway station, her eyes on the crowd of people coming and going. "I've already eaten. Please, tell me what's on your mind, Officer Mark."
"Well, the owners of the golden bars, have arrived at the police station. They're extremely grateful that you were able to find and catch Cyrus, which helped them recover their lost property. They really want to meet you and even had a banner custom-made overnight to thank you in person."
At this, Mark paused, walked to the side, and lowered his voice to tell Kendall, "Because you said yesterday that you didn't want to show up, I already politely declined on your behalf. But they are very excited and still really want to meet you."
Mark didn't mention the other reason. The case was so well-known in Astoria at the time, and it was one of the cases with the highest amount of stolen money in history.
Now that the suspect was caught, it not only attracted a lot of attention from netizens, but even the higher-ups in the police department were paying close attention.
According to his colleagues, because Kendall caught two criminals in two days, they were even planning to hold an award ceremony for her once the commendation was approved.
Kendall had already guessed that Mark was calling her for this reason. She replied, "Please tell them that I appreciate their kindness. But I'm at a subway station entrance right now, and I have other plans for today that I can't postpone."
Mark was a bit disappointed, but he also expected it. "Understood. I'll let them know."
He didn't ask where Kendall was going, it was her privacy.
But before hanging up, Mark wished her well. "I hope you have a safe trip, Miss Kendall."
Kendall was stunned for a moment. "Okay, thank you."
After hanging up, Kendall looked at Mark's number for a moment and then saved it.
Although she was going to another district to catch a criminal this time, she would likely have many more opportunities to contact Mark in the future.

After Cyrus was arrested, he confessed to the crimes he had committed. All of his assets were frozen. He had kept the sixteen golden bars a secret from his wife, who knew nothing about them.
Moreover, after the other residents of Happiness Road found out that Cyrus was a thief, his wife and son were also ostracised. People kept complaining to the property management, demanding that Cyrus's wife and son move out of the Happiness apartment complex.
Cyrus's wife was furious and rushed to the police station that day, demanding a divorce from Cyrus! Cyrus's son didn't even show his face.
Cyrus had thought that if his crimes were ever exposed, he would be hated by everyone. But he never expected his wife and son to abandon him so quickly. Looking at his disgusted wife, Cyrus sneered. "You want a divorce? It won't be that easy!"
Cyrus then confessed to the other things he had stolen years ago. During those thefts, his wife had been his accomplice.
When Cyrus's wife saw him reporting her in front of her, her face immediately changed, and she tried to run, but she was at the police station. Where could she run? She was immediately held down by the police. The two had been married for years and knew many of each other's secrets.
Cyrus reported her, and she could also report him. They started to expose each other's crimes.
The police officers wrote down everything they said.
In addition to the robbery case from 2003, after the police's investigation and separate questioning of the two, they were finally able to piece together many clues.
Theft cases from years ago couldn't be investigated anymore, but for few of those unsolved theft cases, the suspect was also Cyrus.
Cyrus was sentenced to twelve years and five months in prison for his combined crimes, with an additional fine of two thousand dollars, effective immediately.
His wife, as a less-serious accomplice, was sentenced to three years and seven months in prison, with an additional fine of three hundred dollars and a two-year suspended sentence.
Their assets were frozen, and the police would find the rightful owners to return the money they had illegally gained.
