Chapter 47 Come Out Of The Car

The matter of lunch was too far off for now, still several hours away, so Kendall politely declined.

She had agreed to walk with Neil because she heard him mention donating equipment to the Oakhaven University.

Ali was a graduate student at Oakhaven University, and while Neil was only a donor, he was connected to the university nonetheless.

Kendall didn't know how to find Ali yet, so going to see the young master seemed like a good alternative.

Kendall followed Neil all the way to the parking lot. Oakhaven University's parking lot was outdoors and quite spacious. The driver, who had gotten out to smoke nearby, immediately moved to approach when he saw Neil.

Neil raised his hand to signal him back, then personally reached out and opened the car door.

Nathan, sitting in the car, wasn't looking at his phone. He was still sitting in the same posture as when Neil left, staring blankly into space, quiet and still, until the car door reopened. Only then did he lift his eyes to glance outside.

Neil stood outside the car. His usually stern face only showed a hint of gentle smile when dealing with his family, and even his voice sounded different than usual, carrying a faint tolerance and patience. "Nathan, get out. Look who came to play with you."

He stepped aside, fully revealing Kendall, who had been blocked from view behind him.

Nathan's face was wooden, his expression completely flat, looking uninterested in everything.

It wasn't until he saw Kendall that he froze. His originally vacant dark eyes suddenly seemed to be injected with life, becoming sparkling and bright.

He blinked blankly, as if confirming whether the Kendall in front of him was real, resembling a naive and pure little animal in the wild.

Kendall didn't know why, but every time she saw this young master, her mood improved greatly. She smiled at him, her expression playful. "Young master, ready to get out of the car?"

Nathan, who hadn't been willing to leave the car despite Neil's persistent coaxing, immediately and eagerly got out of the car after hearing Kendall's question.

He blinked, standing obediently by Kendall's side, watching her intently. His beautiful amber eyes held only Kendall's reflection.

Neil, standing right next to them... was completely ignored.

"Where should we go next?" Kendall turned to ask Neil.

Nathan seemed to just notice his own brother was still standing there. Seeing Kendall talk to Neil and no longer focusing on him, he pouted his cheeks aggrievedly.

"Anywhere is fine. Did you finish touring the campus just now? Is there anything else you wanted to see?" Neil had just finished speaking when the phone in his pocket rang.

"Excuse me, I need to take this call," he said apologetically to Kendall, then pulled out his phone to answer it.

Kendall and Nathan quietly stood by.

Neil didn't move away from Kendall and Nathan to take the call, and although his phone wasn't on speaker, Kendall could generally tell from his responses that it seemed to be work-related.

"Alright, I'll be back soon," Neil said into the phone before hanging up.

Neil looked at Kendall with a conflicted expression.

Kendall, who understood from his few words that Neil likely had an urgent work matter, spoke up first. "Mr. Sinclair, if you have something important, please tend to your business first."

Neil nodded. "I apologize. I'll treat you to meal another day."

Saying this, he looked at Nathan, "Nathan, get in the car. We need to go back."

Nathan stood right beside Kendall, acting as if he hadn't heard his own brother's words, his body not moving an inch.

Neil looked slightly helpless. Now he was stuck.

He spent half the morning persuading Nathan just to get him out, and now that Nathan had been out for less than two minutes, Neil had a new headache trying to coax him back into the car.
