Chapter 102 The Feud
When Sophia came to get Kendall, Kendall was just about to head into the forest. Hearing what Sophia said, she changed her direction and went toward Jasper's group.
Henry followed close behind. Seeing the two of them arrive, Jasper glanced at Kendall and said, "We can't just sit here and wait. We plan to release a distress signal to the outside world. Do you two want to participate?"
"How?" Kendall's mind stirred. "Use stones to arrange a distress signal? Create smoke signals?"
Jasper: "..."
Those were the only two methods for a wilderness rescue. Damn it, Kendall said them both! How was he supposed to answer now?
Kendall didn't notice Jasper's subtle expression. She nodded. "If that's the plan, we can join in."
It was already the third day, and the program team was still a no-show.
Kendall had no intention of just staying here and waiting.
When Sophia called out to her, Kendall had already planned to go into the forest to gather some dry and wet firewood to create smoke signals and alert the outside world that there were people in distress on the island.
Since Jasper's group had the same idea, Kendall certainly wouldn't refuse to cooperate.
After all, free labor was always a good thing to have.
The guests quickly discussed and took action. The best place to light a smoke signal was an open area. Everyone looked around, quickly found a suitable location, and then went into the forest to gather some tinder and firewood.
Kendall, wearing gloves, pulled some fresh leaves from the forest. Tinder was easy to light but produced no smoke. Spreading fresh leaves on top would create a large amount of smoke.
With many hands, the work was quickly done. Since it was a matter of survival, no one dared to be lazy, and they soon collected enough firewood.
After the smoke signal was ready, Sophia worried that anyone who saw it wouldn't understand their meaning.
So she went through her luggage and pulled out a white dress.
She used several lipsticks to write "HELP" in large letters on the hem of the dress.
Then she fixed the dress to a small bamboo pole, creating a primitive rescue flag.
Then, everyone worked together to secure the rescue flag next to the smoke signal. The hem of the dress waved in the wind, the words written in a vivid red.
user @InterestedPasserby: "Ahhh! That's a luxury-brand dress, one that costs 110,000!"
user @MostBeautiful: "Those lipsticks being wasted aren't cheap either. They cost several thousand each..."
user @TopCommentor: "This must be the most primitive yet most expensive flag I've ever seen! [crying laughing.jpg]"
user @IAmHungry: "Maids, wake up. Have you finished your chores? Now you're feeling sorry for the princesses who live in silk and jade."
After setting up the smoke signal, everyone moved many stones together, arranging the letters "SOS" on the ground.
Ezra was panting, completely exhausted. "This should be enough, right?"
Daniel stood on rock hill, looking at the vast sea with no boats in sight, his expression solemn.
Moving firewood and stones was physical labor, and everyone was tired. Kendall also felt a little hungry. She was planning to go into the forest to catch a rabbit to roast and eat.
Henry felt he was Kendall's subordinate now, and as soon as he saw her leave, he immediately took off to follow. Kendall glanced at him and turned to say, "I'm going into the forest to catch two rabbits. You go to the beach and check if there are any fish caught in the traps I set this morning."
Kendall's thinking was that she could handle catching the chickens or rabbits by herself anyway. And it would take time to process and cook the rabbits and chickens after she caught them.
If the three fishing traps in the sea caught fish, it would be much faster to cook the fish.
But when Henry heard this, he felt a little ashamed. It was obvious that during the two hunting trips in the forest yesterday, he had been the one holding her back and was completely useless.
Henry responded with a "got it," patted his head, and ran toward the beach with the titanium pot. Since he couldn't help with hunting in the forest, he would do his best to be useful in other ways!
Liam's group was also a little tired. After moving the stones, they were all panting. Ezra and Elijah went directly to their tent to rest.
Mia had been paying attention to Kendall's movements. Seeing her walk into the forest, Mia immediately grabbed Liam and Jasper. "Brother Liam, Jasper, look, Kendall went into the forest."
Liam glanced and turned back, not caring. "She's probably going to find something to eat."
In contrast, Jasper kept looking back at Kendall's solitary but composed figure as she walked away.
When everyone was moving firewood and stones, Sophia and Mia only ever carried one or two pieces of firewood or a small stone at a time. It was normal for girls to have less strength and carry less.
However, Kendall carried as much as the men did each time, and her steps were agile and confident, a complete contrast to the slow, dragging pace of Sophia and Mia.
Now that everyone was tired and panting from moving the stones, Kendall looked as if nothing had happened, walking into the forest to hunt.
Jasper had always found Kendall vulgar, not at all delicate or cute, and her life was not refined. But now, he couldn't help but wonder what it would be like if Mia could be like Kendall, handling everything herself without needing him to worry...
Jasper suddenly got lost in his thoughts.
user @LoveRomance: "What is Jasper doing? Staring at Kendall's figure without moving?"
user @DetectiveSoo: "What is he thinking about?"
user @QueenMia: "What the heck is he doing? His fiancée is right beside him, but he's staring at another woman?"
user @MiaDefender: "Don't guess randomly! He's clearly just lost in thought, and it just so happens that the direction he was looking in before he zoned out was the same one Kendall went in!"
Jasper's distraction was so obvious that even the audience on screen noticed it. How could Mia, who was standing right in front of him, not see it?
Seeing Jasper staring at Kendall, a sense of crisis suddenly rose in Mia. She tugged on Jasper's sleeve and said loudly, "Jasper! What do you think?"
Jasper snapped back to reality and immediately looked down at Mia. "...Huh?"
"I was talking to you, and you didn't hear a thing," Mia pouted, feigning displeasure.
A trace of embarrassment flashed in Jasper's eyes. After meeting Mia's gaze, he quickly looked away. "I was a little tired just now and got lost in my thoughts."
user @EagleEyes: "Jasper lied! His expression was a little unnatural!"
user @SleepingAuntie: "Right! The way he glanced at Mia and quickly looked away was exactly the same as my husband every time he does something sneaky!"
user @CutieMiMi: "Hahaha, my boyfriend is the same. Every time he does something wrong and I ask him about it, he has that same expression."
user @HopelessRomantic: "So funny, men are really all the same!"
Mia didn't see Jasper's guilty expression, nor did she know he was lying. When she heard him say he was tired, Mia even felt a sense of relief. As long as he wasn't distracted because he was looking at Kendall, it was fine.
Mia had originally wanted Liam and Jasper to secretly follow Kendall to see how she caught the rabbits. Since Kendall grew up in the countryside, she was naturally more familiar with the wilderness than they were.
For example, this morning, she, Liam, and Sophia tired themselves out flipping rocks on the beach for nearly an hour, and their catch was less than what Kendall got in five minutes on the beach!
Kendall roasted two whole rabbits last night! The rabbits must not have been caught with her bare hands since they were so fast, otherwise, Jasper's group would have caught them too.
Mia wanted Jasper and Liam to follow her to see how Kendall set up her traps for rabbits, but after hearing Jasper say he was tired, Mia swallowed her words and instead showed concern. "Jasper, why don't you go back to the tent and rest for a bit?"
Jasper nodded and turned to walk toward the tent he shared with Liam.
Liam was also tired. He patted Mia on the shoulder and said, "I'm going to lie down too. I didn't sleep well last night, I'm exhausted."
Mia stood in place, a bit unwilling as she looked twice in Kendall's direction.
Kendall's pace was fast. In just this short time, she had already entered the forest, and the ancient trees were so tall and dense that Mia could barely see her anymore.
Mia had initially wanted to follow her secretly, but seeing how fast Kendall walked, she had to give up. With a sour expression, she walked toward her own tent.
user @UnbiasedOpinion: "Mia's expression... it's like someone owes her two million."
user @AngryTeen: "What's wrong with her? She's like a resentful woman. Her eyes look a little scary when she looks at Kendall."
Inside the tent, Sophia had returned before Mia. After gathering firewood and moving stones, Sophia was completely worn out and collapsed as soon as she got into the tent. Seeing Mia enter, Sophia immediately shifted her body to make room for Mia.
The tent the program team provided was good quality, but it was a single-person tent with limited space.
It was more than enough for one person, but it was a bit crowded for two adults.
Fortunately, both Sophia and Mia kept themselves in shape and were small in stature, so they didn't take up much space.
Otherwise, things wouldn't have been so peaceful last night.
But now, Mia was in a bad mood and found everything irritating. When Sophia's leg reached out and touched hers again, Mia finally couldn't take it and kicked her directly.
"Ah!" Sophia let out a shriek.
After the guests entered their tents, as soon as the curtains were closed, the audience could no longer see what was happening inside, but they could still hear the sounds. After Sophia's shriek rang out, the audience's fingers flew across their keyboards, expressing shock.
user @TopCommentor: "What's wrong?"
user @JustHereForFun: "Who was that screaming just now?"
user @SophiaIsMyWife: "It sounds like my Sophia!"
user @SophiaDefender: "I think she was resting in the tent? Was she scared by something in the tent?"
Sophia rubbed her aching left leg and angrily questioned Mia, "Why did you kick me?!"
Mia's face was cold. "Your leg was touching me."
"How was my leg touching you? The tent is only so big. Didn't I just give you half the space?" Sophia sat up, looked at both sides, and then said furiously, "You get up and see for yourself! Which side has more space, yours or mine!"
Mia rolled her eyes. Not only did she have no intention of sitting up, she even stretched her body out in front of Sophia.
Sophia had been kicked for no reason, and the other person's attitude was so rude. The anger in Sophia's heart instantly surged. She had come here happily to film a reality show, only to encounter this kind of mess where they couldn't call for help.
It wasn't just Mia who was feeling resentful, everyone was. Sophia had a feeling that the negative emotions she had accumulated over the past few days were about to explode! And Mia was still bullying her!
Sophia let out a cry, rolled over, grabbed Mia's hair, and started to fight.
"Ah!" This time, the shriek was Mia's.
"How dare you hit me!" Mia's voice was full of disbelief.
"I'm hitting you! You've been acting like a spoiled princess all day! It was your studio that released all that negative press about me before filming began, wasn't it?! Tearing people down to build yourself up! I've had enough of you!"
Then, the two began to fight in the tent, pulling each other's hair, slapping each other, and head-butting each other... The scene was incredibly dramatic, but unfortunately, the live stream audience couldn't see it. They could only hear the two shrieking and cursing at each other.
user @GymBuddy: "Huh? Mia and Sophia are fighting?"
user @CoolUncle: "Why are those two fighting?"
user @RichieRich: "Program team, get the camera inside the tent! I'll pay money to see it, is that okay?!"
