Chapter 24 #4

“When August Junior started staying down the hallway at a chick’s room,” he answered as I dropped my head to look at the bitch with an ‘oh shit’ facial expression.

“How long has he been in the chick’s room? I’m sure you have her name, correct?” she inquired as August Senior growled and Germoney shook her head.

Yes,” the man said disappointedly, causing me to close my eyes.

“Tell me, please.”

“From the intel I gathered, she’s Germoney’s cousin. Deminika Henry,” the man announced as displeasure towered over me while I looked at a shocked and heartbroken Germoney.

“By chance, do you know when he leaves that room?”

“At first, he was leavin’ an hour an’ thirty minutes.

Within the past two weeks, he ain’t been leavin’ that room ‘til 7:00. He be staggerin’ an’ holdin’ his head.

He’on even be wit’ Germoney. She be solo still doing the same shit minus going to the gym.

I ain’t finished wit’ Germoney’s movements.

Last night at 9:15, she headed to August Junior’s dorm.

At 9:20, she bypassed her cousin, smiling and flipping her hair.

At 9:30, she screamed his name. I wanted to move from my post, but I couldn’t ‘cause I wasn’t ordered to watch August Junior, just her.

Strict orders. She got him together enough to walk out of his dorm.

I had to intervene ‘cause I saw my homie’s boy slobberin’ out the mouth, unable to stand, eyes rolling, an’ breathin’ all fucked up.

I scared her; then, she sucked that shit in an’ asked me to take them to the hospital.

I picked up my homie’s son an’ told her to grab my keys an’ follow me.

I ran like hell wit’ August Junior slippin’ into unconsciousness.

I knew I shoulda called his dad, but my orders was strict.

She drove to the hospital, talkin’ to August Junior, who was barely responsive.

Chief, fo’ the first time, I disobeyed yo’ orders an’ called August Senior.

He ain’t answer. I blew that nigga’s phone up.

I called The Quads Ts, but I forgot they asses off the grid fo’ a few hours.

So, when we got August Junior settled wit’ the medical team, I told Germoney to get August Junior’s phone an’ call his Momma, not his Daddy, but his Momma.

When she got off the phone wit’ Mona, I watched that guh cry hard over the boy she had no idea was shackin’ up wit’ her cousin.

I felt bad fo’ her. She like August Junior.

When the medical team wouldn’t tell her nothin’ ‘cause of som’ privacy shit, she was livid than a motherfucka.

I had to pretend to be her dad so she wouldn’t get kicked out the hospital.

To calm her nerves, I told her I was ordered to watch her an’ that I was glad that I did ‘cause it’s a good sight to see a young guh not caught up in boys, fuckin’ outta both pants legs an’ shit.

Then, the coded message of Mona an’ August Senior comin’ in real motherfucka hot hit my second phone.

I told Germoney that his parents would be in the city soon, but to sit tight ‘cause they ain’t on their way to the hospital.

Once she was calm, she produced a black bottle an’ asked me how powerful I was.

I told her very. She told me what she needed, an’ I made it happen. ”

“What did she want?” X and I inquired, as I knew when the road settled for August Junior, I would cuss his ass out.

“Fo’ me to make it hard fo’ Deminika to go anywhere ‘cause she needed Mona to beat her ass. A few bitches of the professors I’m fuckin’ on owe me favors, so I had them bitches make sho’ Deminika had no way to get off campus, not even fo’ five minutes,” he responded as I was thankful for him being able to make the bitch stagnant.

“Chief, don’t sanction me. I had to use my power to make that guh get what was comin’ to her. That hoe date raped August Junior. Gettin’ dick ain’t that serious.”

Exhaling sharply, X said, “Rest easy. I’m not going to sanction you.

I would’ve stripped your ass down bad if you hadn’t been a decent human and made sure he was taken to the E.R.

Never in your life think that I’ll take tax that ass because you have to be a decent person helping someone.

Just let me know as soon as that person is safe, that you got caught up in being a decent human.

I told you, I’ve missed knocking a nigga’s head off because his child was too close to him.

You did the right thing. I don’t have any questions, but maybe August Senior and Mona do. ”

“No questions. Thank you fo’ gettin’ my boy to the hospital an’ makin’ sho’ this bitch right where she need to be, Qamyion,” August Senior said graciously.

“You welcome.”

“I have no questions. Thank you, Qamyion,” I responded to a man I had never met, let alone heard his name.

“You welcome.”

“In three weeks, you can return to speaking correct English,” X teased as I shoved my gloved fingers into Deminika’s nose.

“A’ight.” He laughed as the bitch grunted.

“Call over, Qamyion.”

“Over call,” he sounded as August Senior didn’t waste time telling X that she needed to keep her phone next to her.

Once their call was over, August Senior growled, “Prepare this hatch fo’ fo’ bodies. They gotta go to ‘Bama wit’ us.”

“Okay.” I nodded, smiling.

Looking at my bloodied target, who thought life was all peaches and cream, I tucked my thumb into my slender fingers. I brought my arm back like a dying cat sliding across grass. Slow.

Deminika sobbed, “Please, let me expl—”

“I’m good on that,” I hissed, releasing my arm. When the punch connected to the center of her face, it was lights out.

“It’s good to see your name. Talk to me, August Senior,” King said lovingly.

“This ain’t no social call. This a fam call. Get up an’ dig fo’ holes within a ten-mile radius. Casket style. I’mma call you when I touch back down in the city,” he demanded nonchalantly before ending the call.

Placing his eyes on me, the cold-eyed man said, “Sit tight wit’ our idiot ass boy. I got the rest.”

“Okay.” I nodded, not pleased with August Junior lying and putting himself in a position to have his drawls and pants dangling at his ankles.

Once August Senior exited my truck, Germoney looked in the back seat. Her teary eyes landed on me. Through the heartache, she smiled. “Keep me updated about him. But know, you will never see me again unless he decides to return to school. I think you know what I’m saying, right?”

Knowing all too well how she felt and what she meant, I nodded.

“It was a pleasure knowing you, and I thank you for being the best damn friend that idiotic son of mine had. I’ll always treasure you, Germoney.

The right young man will find you and only have eyes for you, even when his hormones get the best of him. ”
