Chapter 16 Daily Discoveries

......

Through the next month or so of getting along.

I discovered that Jian Xi was really a gentle, sensible, understanding, and helpful good kid who solved troubles for me.

Most importantly.

His eyes could speak. Those bright, sparkling, beautiful eyes fixed on me, and I didn't want to pursue any issues.

For example.

Yesterday, I was in a hurry to go out and hitched a ride with the neighbor again.

Who would have thought that the next evening.

The neighbor's wailing echoed through the entire neighborhood, his voice cracking from crying.

"Who?! Who punctured my car tires? Do you know how expensive they are?! Damn it! Why puncture my tires?!"

I froze for two seconds, then inexplicably looked at Jian Xi. "Um, Jian Xi......"

Jian Xi put the peeled boiled egg into my bowl, then lifted his eyelids and looked at me innocently.

My breath hitched.

I recalled the countless times my heart had raced because of Jian Xi these past two days. My face heated up involuntarily.

Wuwu, Dad and Mom, your daughter is unfilial. Now I really want to do pseudo-incest with your son.

But then again.

I glanced at the neighbor crying messily outside the window, then turned to look at the quiet and steady Jian Xi.

I decisively concluded---

I must be crazy.

How could I suspect Jian Xi did it?

Whoever did it, it probably wasn't Jian Xi! I couldn't imagine him doing such a thing!

I! Believe! Him!

I picked up the egg and suddenly remembered Dad and Mom were still there. Sure enough, when I looked up, I met their eyes.

Mom was very happy.

"Since you two are getting along so well, the marriage arrangement should be put on the agenda."

"Just next week when we announce Jian Xi's return, we'll announce your marriage too."

The words fell.

The egg on my chopsticks dropped heavily onto the table.

Hold on.

What marriage arrangement? How did I not know?

I looked at Jian Xi in shock.

Jian Xi continued to eat his porridge slowly, showing no surprise at all. He obviously already knew about this.

I swallowed. "Dad, Mom, what marriage arrangement?"

Dad was puzzled.

"Ah? Duo Duo, didn't you say you knew all about it back then? You even said you agreed. Did you forget?"

I thought back carefully.

I slapped my forehead hard.

It was all because I only listened to half of the conversation and rushed out to agree.

That's why it turned into this mess today.

I mustered my courage. "Dad, Mom, actually, this marriage arrangement, I never......"

"I'm full."

Jian Xi suddenly stood up, without even glancing at me, and turned to go upstairs.

Watching his stiff back disappear at the stair corner.

My heart felt empty. I subconsciously put down my chopsticks and followed him.
