Part 2 Chapter 54
"Violet wait!" Santana said but there was no stopping me. I charged through the portal. I felt my body stretch every so slightly and I was suddenly face down in the dirt.
" Really, Violet!?" I heard Santana say the approach me while I climbed to my feet.
"How many times do I have to tell you not to run through the portal?
The only way to have a decent landing is to walk though them.
Can you at least dismiss your mind blocking spell so I can at least read your mind and see what's wrong.
The letter burned up before I could read it. "
We were now standing in front of a yellow cottage nestled in the middle of two big trees. To the right of the cottage was a vegetable garden and beside that, a bed of medical herbs. This is were Henry was staying with Dr. Nightingale, Emily, and Peter, while they tended to him.
Two dragons sunned themselves in the yard. One was blue and one was a light pink. Nessie opened her golden eyes to watch me while I approached and Darkrose, Emily's dragon, opened her silver eyes too.
Nessie's pupils dilated when they spotted Deception and she let a cloud of steam escape from her nostrils. She turned her head to the side and continued sleeping. Meanwhile Darkrose kept a vigilant eye on us while we passed.
I ignored Santana's words, I was in a full blown panic, "Emily!?" I called out. "Where are you?" I ran up to the dirt path to the cottage. I began to bang my fist frantically against the simple wooden door that served as their only entrance inside.
There was a click of the lock from the other side and the door creaked open, until Emily stood there blinking at me wide eyed, "Oh my goodness Violet, you scared me nearly half to death. I thought that the soldiers found us for sure and were trying to beat down our door!"
"Where is he!?" I asked brushing past her into the kitchen. I had been their only once before, because Henry had developed a fever and it looked like he wasn't going to make it. Besides that, I distanced myself far away from this place as possible.
The kitchen counters crowed with food. It looked like Emily had been cooking a feast right before I had come. I felt anger boil up in me. How could she be cooking when Henry was in such danger?
Vivian had been right about me having a huge target on my forehead. They had found us three times already. Not sure how, but we had managed to get away with very little trouble two times, but the last time had escaped by a fraction of a troll hair.
I ran back to a simple room with swirling yellow and green walls where Henry and John had been recovering in for the last couple months. I found both beds and the room very empty.
John had made a quick recovery since then, and had joined Vivian in the capital. They were now both working to rebuild Timalia's government.
I felt tears spring to my eyes. Where was he!? I sat down on the bed and buried my face in my hands.
The last time I was here Vivian and John were preparing to leave.
Vivian had cleared John's name from having any kind of association with well me.
Henry had been doing better, well at least that was according to Dr. Nightingale.
To me it still appeared he was still I in deep sleep with no sighs of waking up.
"Holy cow, Violet!" Emily called to me from the door. "I haven't seen you like this since I contacted you about Henry's fever, didn't you get my letter I left for your spirit things?"
"I did, I said something like come back immediately, there was a drastic change in his case, he- and the next two lines were smudge out, and than it said something about danger and soldiers!?"
Her eyes filled with sympathy, "Oh no, no wonder why you are so worried!? Why don't you come out to the kitchen and have some water, and I'll explain to you everything that happened, I can assure but I can assure you, he's quite all right!"
I nodded my head, and let her help me off the bed.
She put an arm around me while we walked back down the hallway.
We turned the corner and I spotted the large kitchen table with seven seats around it, that I had ignored on my hurried entrance inside.
There were three people sitting around in its woden chairs including, Peter, Santana on one side, and and one more person on the other.
I rushed over to them when I saw who it was and threw my arms around him, almost knocking him out of the chair and causing him to spill the mug he held in his hand.
I heard Emily's voice behind me, "See the rest of my letter, said that Henry had been awake for the last two weeks, but there were some soldiers in the area, so I didn't dare try to communicate with you until now because knew you would still try to come, even though it was dangerous.
I was afraid, so I had to wait. Oh and, it also said not to eat before you came, because I was cooking up a storm tonight! "
"You would totally miss me and run right past me," Henry said, and I pulled away to look at him. He looked so weak. He was a lot skinnier and his face had hollowed out a bit, but I could still see my Henry in his electric blue eyes.
"I'm so glad you're okay!" I said. "I love you so much."
"Yeah me too," he replied, looking away uncomfortably. He was never one for public displays of affection, even after three months in a coma.
"Hey speaking of good news!" Santana announced from the other side of the table, removing a letter from the pocket of the brown jacket she was currently wearing.
"I guess Savannah is learning to use that channeling weapon back home, and she managed to send me this by opening a tiny gap in-between worlds.
This letter is about how her and Lilly are doing. "
She handed the letter to me, and I accepted it from her.
I saw that the envelope had already been torn, like someone had opened it to see its contents already.
My guess was Santana had read it before me, but I didn't blame her.
She was probably eager to get news about my sister, like I was eager now to get news about mine.
I sat down in the chair that was empty besides Henry, and quickly skimmed over the letter and when I was done, I set it down on the table.
"It says Lilly just took her first steps, and how your parents are raising her like their third daughter.
" I felt happiness well up inside me, Lilly was safe, but I also felt profound sadness.
Emily handed me a cup of some hot liquid and I took a sip of it and discover it was hot dragon's milk. The sweet and sour drank warmed my throat nicely.
I looked over at Santana, "Is there any chance of my mother ever remembering me or Lilly?" I asked.
"Yes, something might trigger her and she may remember a detail or two or even everything. The latter would be rare though."
"Probably for the best though if she remembers nothing," I said, although I felt sick to me stomach.
"By the way," I said looking around the room. "Where's Dr.Nightingale?"
"He left as soon as Henry woke up, he said his services were no longer needed," Peter answered.
"So..." Emily said looking at me very eagerly, that I suddenly felt nervous for some reason. I raised the cup to take a sip just as she asked, "When are you and Henry going to get married ?" she asked.
"I'm so bored here and need some excitement."
Me and Henry glanced each other. "We didn't really have time to think about it."
"What about tonight!" Emily said.
"No!" me and Henry said in unison.
"Awwwe come on!" Emily said and the whole room exploded into laughter.
We spent the rest of the night eating and catching up. It was so nice to have company beside Santana. She had gotten a little more bearable, especially after blocking her out of my mind, but still...
By the time it had grown dark, we decided it was time to leave. Emily and Peter were cleaning up the dishes, while I sat alone with Henry talking.
"Promise me that you will focus on getting better," I pleaded, "don't push yourself too hard so you can eventually come join me." I lowered my voice to a whisper, "Santana is kind of driving me crazy."
"Just because I can't read your mind, doesn't mean I can't read your boyfriend's when you whisper things to him !" Santana called out.
"See what I mean."
"Promise me that you will try and be nearly as a dits as you normally are, and you'll won't get yourself killed," Henry said, his voice serious, the the way his mouth turned up at the corner betrayed him.
"Promise," I said and joined Santana at the door.
I turned and waved at the people I loved the most, knowing I would see them soon before climbing onto Deceptions back, and vanishing into the night.
AN; Congrats on reaching the end! Now disclaimer, I know that there is a lot of loose ends in this story.
I did that intentionally. JK Rowling my idol (who has the same personality as me btw, INFP represent!) once said she likes to know more about the story than the reader, and so do I.
I know what happens, and I like to keep it that way.
Also, I like to keep the door open to this world, for you the reader to speculate what happens in the future.
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read this story!
Hope you enjoyed it! And please comment below your thoughts!
