CHAPTER FOURTEEN
THE CHOICE BEYOND DESTINY
The war was over.
But Elara had changed.
She could now create doors simply by thinking about them.
She could travel between worlds.
She could feel the emotions of entire kingdoms.
But there was one thing she still wanted.
A normal life.
Kael found her sitting beside a river.
"Thinking about running away?"
She smiled.
"Maybe."
"Where?"
"Somewhere without prophecies."
He laughed.
"I'd follow you."
She looked at him.
"What if I want a life that belongs only to us?"
Kael sat beside her.
"Then we'll build it."
He kissed her forehead.
"No prophecies."
"No kings."
"No wars."
"No magical monsters."
"That last one may be difficult."
She laughed.
Then she noticed something.
A small door had appeared beside the river.
It was glowing blue.
Elara stared.
"Kael."
"I see it."
The door opened.
Inside was a peaceful world.
Green fields.
A small house.
A river.
No enemies.
No kingdoms.
No wars.
Elara smiled.
"Maybe that's our future."
Kael held her hand.
"Then let's make it ours."
