Who’s That Girl?
Do you know the identity of #thegirlinthesong?
By Zane Peters, Showbusiness News Editor
Indie rock god, Ed ‘Nasher’ Nash, 49, lead singer of the band The Mountaineers is desperate to find his former girlfriend, Evie Del Rio who ever since the Netflix documentary Musical Muses: The Girl in the Song, is now known across social media as #thegirlinthesong.
Ed last saw her in the mid 80s when they were just teenagers but unfortunately up until recently that’s where the trail runs cold – until now… ..
The Daily Mail has recently acquired some never seen before photos of the possible last sighting of Evie Del Rio at a pool party at a friend’s house.
Accompanying the article there are numerous photos showing Ed and I and our various friends enjoying ourselves at Mark’s pool party.
Most of the teenagers are in swimwear except for me as in most of the photos I’m seated on a sun lounger or otherwise can be seen dangling my feet in the pool, dressed in a white shirt and a grey skirt smiling into the camera, my blue eyes squinting against the April sunshine.
I really can’t believe my past has come back to haunt me.
And to be made so public too. I have worked so hard to reinvent myself as a respectable wife and mother, and I really thought I’d finally achieved a life that my parents could be truly proud of.
If only Ed hadn’t released that song. I remember him telling me that all the songs he’d written about me would one day make him famous, and I suppose he was right.
I had to tell Gray that I did know Ed and that we had dated very briefly.
He doesn’t know the full story yet, and for now I want to keep it that way.
I’ve basically stopped going out. You see, Ed has really exaggerated and embellished our story, and although most of the stuff he has said has an element of truth to it, I really don’t want to be reminded of my past.
Poor Gray and our children, along with the rest of the world are about to find out just who Evie Del Rio really is.
I thought my secrets would remain safe after all these years, but with Ed’s resurgence of popularity, he’s lit the touchpaper, sat back and watched it burn.
Thankfully, his uncle Paul seems to have vanished off the face of the earth, so at least that’s one less person to worry about selling his story to the press.
Ed is relentless in his pursuit of fame, and he’s now got the recognition he always craved.
I don’t suppose he even realises how much I’ve changed over the years - I have so much to lose.
I’m not the same wild Evie he met all those years ago who didn’t give a damn about the future.
Evie just lived for the moment and to hell with the consequences.
It’s only since I met, and married Gray and we had our children that I realised what real, true love is.
What Ed and I had all those years ago was complete infatuation and pure lust.
