Chapter 1 The Day My World Ended

Seven Years Ago...

"How could you do this, Aadhira?"

"I never expected this from you."

"We spoiled you too much."

"This is how you repay our love?"

"I gave birth to a monster."

The accusations came from every direction.

They blamed her.

They hated her.

They condemned her.

But what hurt Aadhira the most wasn't their anger.

It wasn't their accusations.

It was the fact that they didn't believe her.

At first, she cried.

She begged.

She pleaded with them to listen.

But when they stopped listening, she stopped crying.

She didn't understand how everything had fallen apart so quickly.

Just yesterday, everything had been normal.

---

The previous evening had started like any other day at Devraj Mansion.

Laughter echoed through the house as family members gathered in the living room.

In the middle of it all stood Aadhira and Vedha.

Arguing.

Again.

"Nani!" Aadhira complained dramatically. "I asked for that bracelet first. Why did you give it to Vedu?"

Before Devayani could answer, Vedha crossed her arms.

"No. I'm not giving it to her."

Aadhira gasped.

"Why not?"

"Because Nana gifted it to me for winning the state debate competition."

"But I wanted it!"

"And I earned it!"

"You always get the prettier things!"

Vedha rolled her eyes.

"That's because I actually work for them."

Aadhira's mouth dropped open.

"You did not just say that!"

"I absolutely did."

The family watched the cousins with amusement.

Their arguments were a daily occurrence.

Rajesh Devraj finally stepped in before things could escalate further.

"Princess."

Aadhira immediately turned toward her father.

"Yes?"

"I'll buy you a bracelet even more beautiful than that one."

Aadhira narrowed her eyes suspiciously.

"Promise?"

"I promise."

"More beautiful?"

"Much more beautiful."

She pretended to think for a moment before nodding dramatically.

"Fine. I'll let her keep it."

The family laughed.

As Aadhira walked away, she pointed a finger at Vedha.

"You'll regret this, Vedu."

Vedha stuck her tongue out.

"I'm terrified."

The cousins burst into laughter.

Nobody took the threat seriously.

Nobody imagined those words would destroy Aadhira's life the very next day.

---

The next afternoon, everything changed.

A frantic phone call shattered the peace of Devraj Mansion.

Vedha had been kidnapped while returning from her music class.

She had been found severely injured and rushed to the hospital.

The Devraj family reached the hospital within minutes.

Aadhira's hands trembled as she ran through the corridors.

Her heart pounded violently against her chest.

This couldn't be happening.

Not to Vedha.

Not to her Vedu.

The family immediately surrounded the doctor.

"Doctor, how is she?" Vedha's father asked desperately.

The doctor's expression darkened.

"She has suffered severe blood loss and multiple injuries."

Everyone held their breath.

"Her condition is critical."

The world seemed to stop.

Vedha's mother broke down instantly.

Her father collapsed into a nearby chair.

The family prayed desperately for her recovery.

But nobody was more devastated than Aadhira.

Vedha wasn't just her cousin.

She was her best friend.

Her partner in crime.

Her soul sister.

They were only two months apart in age and had grown up together.

More than cousins, they were sisters.

Twins in everything except blood.

Seeing Vedha fighting for her life shattered Aadhira completely.

---

As the family waited outside the ICU, another family arrived.

Manoj Ahuja.

And his daughter, Kavya Ahuja.

Their faces appeared concerned.

But hidden beneath their worried expressions were poisonous intentions.

Manoj slowly approached the family.

"I know who kidnapped Vedha."

Every head snapped toward him.

Vihaan stepped forward immediately.

"Who?"

His voice shook with rage.

"Tell me who did it."

"I swear they'll regret every second of it."

Manoj hesitated.

As if he didn't want to reveal the truth.

Then he slowly turned toward Aadhira.

"It was her."

Silence.

The entire corridor fell silent.

Aadhira froze.

"W-What?"

Before anyone could react, Kavya stepped forward.

With trembling hands, she unlocked her phone.

"I found these."

One by one, she showed them messages.

Messages sent from Aadhira's number.

Messages discussing Vedha's kidnapping.

Then came the videos.

Videos showing someone who looked exactly like Aadhira speaking to a group of men.

Ordering them to kidnap Vedha.

Ordering them to hurt her.

Aadhira stared at the screen in horror.

"No..."

Her voice barely came out.

"No... that's not me."

Kavya lowered her eyes sadly.

"I think she did it because of the bracelet."

Everyone remembered the argument.

Everyone remembered the threat.

"You'll regret this, Vedu."

Suddenly those words didn't sound childish anymore.

---

"Nana..." Aadhira whispered. "You know me."

Her grandfather looked at her silently.

"You know I would never hurt Vedha."

"Then explain these messages," he said.

"I can't because I didn't send them!"

"Stop lying!" someone shouted.

Aadhira flinched.

"Dad..." she turned toward her father.

"Please. Tell them."

Rajesh stared at her.

His eyes were filled with disappointment.

"Why, Aadhira?"

Her heart shattered.

Not because of the question.

But because he was already assuming she was guilty.

"I didn't do anything!"

"Then why does all the evidence point toward you?"

"Because someone framed me!"

"Aadhira!" her mother cried.

Tears streamed down Meera's face.

"Vedha is fighting for her life."

"So am I!" Aadhira cried.

"I didn't hurt her!"

"How could you do this?" Meera sobbed.

"I didn't!"

"No sister would ever do something like this!"

Aadhira turned toward Vedha's parents.

"Chachu..."

"If anything happens to my daughter," her uncle said, his voice breaking, "I will never forgive you."

The words felt like knives.

"Please believe me."

"How can we?" he shouted.

"The evidence is right in front of us."

---

Then her grandfather stepped forward.

SLAP!

The sound echoed through the corridor.

Aadhira stumbled backwards.

Her cheek burned.

Tears filled her eyes.

"N-Nana..."

The man who had loved her the most refused to meet her gaze.

"We trusted you."

His voice trembled with disappointment.

"And this is how you repay us?"

Aadhira felt something inside her break.

She turned desperately toward her grandmother.

"Nani..."

Devayani looked away.

Her silence hurt more than the slap.

She looked at her father.

Her mother.

Her uncle.

Her aunt.

Her cousins.

One by one.

Not a single person believed her.

Not one.

Then her eyes landed on Manoj and Kavya.

And finally she saw it.

The triumph hidden in their eyes.

The satisfaction behind their masks.

The faint smile they thought nobody noticed.

In that moment, Aadhira understood.

She had been framed.

She had been betrayed.

But what hurt her most wasn't the betrayal.

It was her family's lack of faith in her.

Seventeen years of love.

Seventeen years of trust.

Destroyed within minutes.

Aadhira opened her mouth to defend herself one last time.

Then she stopped.

What was the point?

Nobody was listening.

Nobody believed her.

Nobody wanted to.

Slowly, she lowered her head.

The tears stopped.

The begging stopped.

The explanations stopped.

And so did the seventeen-year-old girl who believed her family would always stand by her.

"Aadhira."

Her father's voice was cold.

She didn't answer.

"Aadhira, say something."

Silence.

"Look at us when we're talking to you."

Silence.

The family exchanged disappointed glances.

To them, her silence meant only one thing.

Guilt.

And Aadhira finally realized that no matter what she said...

They had already decided she was the villain.
