CHAPTER FOURTEEN
THE CHOICE OF LOVE
Years later, the portals between the worlds became permanent.
Veyra changed.
Flowers appeared in the streets.
Children laughed.
People danced.
Music filled the city.
Not everyone accepted emotions immediately.
Some people still feared them.
But nobody was forced to feel one way or another.
Freedom had finally returned.
Elara often visited her old bedroom.
The gray walls were now covered with paintings.
Her childhood stars still remained on the ceiling.
One evening, Kael appeared through the portal.
He held a small silver box.
Elara smiled.
"What is that?"
He knelt.
Her heart stopped.
"Kael."
He opened the box.
Inside was a ring made from moonstone.
"I spent my entire life believing I was waiting for the Heartbearer."
He looked into her eyes.
"But I wasn't waiting for a prophecy."
He smiled.
"I was waiting for you."
Tears filled her eyes.
"Elara Vane, will you travel through every world with me?"
She laughed.
"Is that your proposal?"
"Perhaps."
She kissed him.
"Yes."
