Chapter 16 The Intrusion
I pressed the veil in place, took a deep breath, and headed downstairs.
Zhou Linchen stood in the center of the living room.
His suit was wrinkled, his hair messy.
He looked like he had rushed over.

He struggled, gaze locked on me.

I walked up to him and looked at him quietly.
Once, I thought he might be the light that pulled me out of despair.
I had prepared myself to be his wife.
Later I realized he only saw me as a vine dependent on him.
Now I had found my own roots.
I had no intention of turning back.
"I just didn't tell you the person I'm marrying is Xu Yanbai. As for knowing him, that's between him and me. It has nothing to do with you."

He still didn't see his own faults.

"The engagement was something you changed again and again for Zhou Qingyan. You never took it seriously.
As for helping me, it was only because you felt indebted for my dad's sacrifice. The resources from Zhou Corporation? The projects I brought in already repaid that debt."
"Zhou Linchen, you still don't realize the person you truly love is Zhou Qingyan. Otherwise you wouldn't have forced me to accommodate her over and over."
"I didn't!"

"Qingyan is really just my sister. Li Xia, let's not cancel the engagement, okay?
