Chapter 31 Blade of Lights Pursuit

Thank you so much for all the support! We originally planned to stop the Wattpad edition at Chapter 30, but because of the enthusiasm and continued interest from readers here, we've decided to keep it going a little longer.

From now on, we'll be releasing one new chapter every three days, up through Chapter 50.

We hope you enjoy the extra chapters! — Fat Goose Novel

Opening the two Red Copper Chests yielded [Light Affinity Skill Book *1, Starlight Staff (Purple) *1, Power Card *20].

[Light Affinity Skill Book: Blade of Light's Pursuit — Upon activation, summons 108 compressed Light Blades, sharp and fierce. Each Light Blade deals 1 point of damage, and the Light Blades can attack different targets. Each use consumes 200 MP.]

Good heavens — it's an area-of-effect attack skill!

Qin Zhen absolutely loved the Blade of Light's Pursuit. Sure, each individual Light Blade only dealt 1 point of damage, but the sheer number of them more than made up for it.

One Light Blade dealt 1 point of damage — 108 of them meant 108 points of damage total.

On top of that, factoring in her own Attack Power and equipment bonuses, a single Blade of Light's Pursuit could deal over 300 points of damage!

Even a Tier 2 Monster would only need four casts of Blade of Light's Pursuit to take down.

Compared to her old Lianyue Crossbow, the difference was like night and day!

Of course, the Lianyue Crossbow's damage was lower partly because it was Blue-grade Equipment, while the Starlight Staff was purple-grade — and only by equipping a staff could the skill's full damage potential be unleashed.

All things considered, with the Starlight Staff equipped and an attack skill in hand, Qin Zhen's Attack Power had jumped up an entire tier!

And the System had mentioned before that if her Light Affinity stat increased, the damage of her Light Affinity Skills would rise along with it.

Qin Zhen was very much looking forward to what the Blade of Light's Pursuit could do in the future.

For now, though, she hadn't reached level ten yet, so she couldn't use it quite yet.

She had to level up as fast as possible!

Even though the second Red Copper Chest had given her duplicates of things she already owned, weapons had Durability — she could never have too many.

Qin Zhen stored all the loot she'd obtained into the warehouse, used an Inventory Expansion Card, and now had 180 slots in her backpack.

She consumed the Attribute Orbs: Constitution +51, Attack +75, Defense +45, Speed +30, Intelligence +45, Luck +24.

Adding to that, eating Tier 1 Black-tusk Wild Bull Meat at lunch and dinner had granted her Constitution +4.

Qin Zhen reviewed her stats.

Compared to before the Polar Night, her current figures were like night and day — and it had only been three days!

She knew she had the Beast Tide to thank for all of it.

But once the Polar Night ended, the rate at which her stats grew would slow down considerably.

As she mulled this over, Qin Zhen converted all the resources she'd earned today from selling Iron Axes and Spike Fences into more Spike Fences.

Then she headed outside and used the Spike Fences to surround the Shelter in two layers.

Once all that was done, Qin Zhen washed up and lay down in bed.

She checked the regional player count: /.

Good — the numbers hadn't dropped sharply like they had on the first day of the Polar Night.

Chat Channel.

[Babagan: Ahhhhhh why did the monsters come in more than five waves today?! I almost died...]

[Caterpillar: Same here. This game really doesn't play by the rules...]

[The Golden House Within Books: The worst part was that last wave — it actually had Tier 1 Monsters! I literally wanted to cry. I almost died, but thank goodness I bought two Life Potions last night. Thank you, Potion Master, for saving my life!]

[Xiaofeixia: A Life Potion saved me too. That stuff is seriously amazing! Please, Potion Master, sell more of them!]

[YouMustBeStarving: It really is great stuff — and the price isn't even that bad. I saw someone in the Trading Market selling Life Potions at one skill book per potion!]

[JustGoMarryAGuy: Well, that's not entirely unreasonable — a Life Potion might save your life, but a skill book can't. Still, our Potion Master's prices are genuinely cheap.]

[The Golden House Within Books: We're so lucky to have these amazing people in our region — the Axe Master, the Spike Fence Master, and the Potion Master. I feel like they've saved so many of our lives. Grateful, grateful, grateful!]

[Caterpillar: So grateful!]

[...]

Qin Zhen: "..."

Was there any chance — any chance at all — that all these "masters" were actually just her?

The Spike Fences she'd sold under her real name, but the axes and potions had been listed anonymously. Still, Qin Zhen had no intention of telling them.

An innocent man carrying a jade invites trouble.

Selling one type of item was fine, but if people found out that all of these things came from a single person...

There was no telling what they might think.

Besides, all these Players were in the same region, and Qin Zhen had no doubt she'd run into other Players during future explorations.

In this game world, there were no police and no laws.

Everyone was fighting to survive.

There would inevitably be people willing to do anything to get ahead. Qin Zhen had no desire to test human nature — it was the most unreliable, most intangible thing there was.

So she had to keep as low a profile as possible.

Only when she had the strength to look down on everyone else could she afford not to care about any of this.

The strong prey on the weak — the law of the jungle.

Here, strength was the one and only measure of everything!

[Caterpillar: Hey, honestly — when is this Polar Night going to end? We haven't seen sunlight in days. I feel like I'm going moldy...]

[Fragrant Lily: Right? I used to think the sun was so annoying — UV rays wrecking my skin, never wanting to go outside. Now that it's gone, I actually miss it.]

[The Golden House Within Books: Conclusion: people are just ungrateful by nature!]

[Fragrant Lily: Hahaha, can't argue with that.]

[YouMustBeStarving: I have a feeling today is the last day of the Polar Night.]

[Caterpillar: Why do you say that?]

[YouMustBeStarving: Because bad things don't come in fours, hahaha.]

[Caterpillar: ...I have no words.]

[JustGoMarryAGuy: Honestly, it not ending isn't so bad either. The Beast Tide has brought in so many resources — my stats have grown quite a bit.]

[Xiaofeixia: Listen to this person — are we even playing the same game? I just want it to be over...]

[Xinxiangyin: Same. I'm so tired of living on edge like this. Please just let it end...]

[YouMustBeStarving: The Polar Night will end, but the game won't. Who knows what dangers are waiting ahead? Honestly, facing the unknown, I'd almost rather the Polar Night just kept going — at least we've built up some experience by now.]

[The Golden House Within Books: You make a fair point...]

[...]

Qin Zhen collected all the resources she'd earned from the Life Potions she'd listed in the Trading Zone, then spent another half hour crafting three hundred more Life Potions and put them all up on the Trading Market.

With that done, Qin Zhen fell into a deep sleep. She was utterly exhausted.
