Chapter 3 The Apology at Home
When I arrived home, the sun was already hanging high in the sky.
Before I could even enter the door, Shen Huaizhi came forward. His apology sounded.
"A Yue, yesterday was my fault. I should not have brought Momo to that banquet."
He sounded somewhat sincere, but I wasn't convinced.
"In that case, why not let me see your sincerity." I smiled, playfulness in my eyes.
He paused but still replied obediently, "Then how does A Yue want me to prove it?"
"Perfect. I have not eaten breakfast yet. Why not go buy me some, but only from Su Yun Ge. Oh, and by the way, buy me some pastries, only from Rong Jin Ge. I do not want anything else."
I smiled teasingly.
Su Yun Ge was far from my house, and the two shops were more than twenty kilometers apart—a round trip would take two or three hours.
A troubled expression appeared on Shen Huaizhi's face. He looked toward my parents.
My parents merely turned their heads away and said nothing.
"Young Master Shen, is this too difficult?" Gu Yehan walked in slowly. "How about I go buy it for Yueyue?"
Shen Huaizhi looked closely and saw it was someone he had never met. He immediately clenched his fists. "Kid, who are you talking to?"
"What does my business with A Yue have to do with you?"
He immediately took the moral high ground and began pointing fingers at Gu Yehan.
Gu Yehan just looked at me with a pleading gaze and said nothing.
"Shen Huaizhi, what does my matter with you have to do with him? If you want to vent, come straight at me!" I frowned, displeasure clear in my eyes.
"A Yue, do not get angry. I will go buy it for you right now." As he spoke, he looked at Gu Yehan again.
I glared back at him with coldness.
Instantly he deflated and hurriedly ran out to drive and buy the breakfast and pastries for me.
"When did Gu Yehan return? Why did you not tell me?" My dad stepped forward, patted Gu Yehan's shoulder, and smiled faintly. But the smile did not reach his eyes.
Although the relationship between the two families had eased, it did not mean there were no grudges.
Gu Yehan straightened his expression, his eyes firm. "Uncle Song, I returned to the country this time for Yueyue."
"For Yueyue?" My dad asked again with a pause.
Gu Yehan nodded. "I like Yueyue. This time I came back just to be with Yueyue."
"Little Han, stop joking."
My dad yawned, as if he had misheard.
"Uncle Song, I am serious." Gu Yehan's gaze stayed firm. "Even if it means stealing someone else's fiancée, I want to be with Yueyue."
"My daughter is still engaged to Shen Huaizhi. What you are doing is immoral." Disapproval filled my dad's eyes.
"In matters of love, where is there morality or immorality?" Gu Yehan refused to back down. "Uncle Song, since that Shen Huaizhi kid could do such a thing, if he marries Yueyue in the future, he might plot against your family's property."
My dad was stunned. The words sounded familiar. Then he glared at me.
I blinked and said nothing.
Gu Yehan wanted to say more to persuade his future father-in-law.
But my dad directly turned his face away and declared firmly, "Gu Yehan, let me tell you, this matter is impossible!"
"Unless I am dead, you will not marry my daughter!"
