Chapter 8 Gu Yehan’s Pursuit
In these past few days Gu Yehan had been busy figuring out how to win over my father-in-law. He was also preparing for our engagement banquet.
Engagement banquet?
A huge question mark popped up in my mind.
In the end I pulled Gu Yehan who was still currying favor with my parents aside.
"It seems I never agreed to be with you. Isn't this engagement banquet a bit out of place?"
He froze for a moment. Then he said frankly "I thought after we slept together you had already agreed."
Helplessness filled my eyes.
"We're adults. Sleeping together is just sleeping together. At most it's a one-night stand. How could one night mean we're together?"
Gu Yehan looked conflicted.
I went on. "Besides, you never pursued me or proposed. I didn't even have a chance to say yes."
"In short we're not together..."
Gu Yehan finally got it. His face darkened. "Then does Yueyue like me?"
I hesitated.
"But I like Yueyue." Gu Yehan took my hand. His gaze was intense. "From the first time you visited the Gu family I wanted to protect this little sister."
He chuckled softly.
"Yueyue grew up slowly and became prettier and prettier. I worried more and more that a big bad wolf would snatch her away. Unfortunately my dad wanted to toughen me up and sent me abroad."
"I told myself that this way I could gain the ability to protect you."
The deep emotion in his voice made my heart flutter.
"I even told Uncle Song that I wanted to marry Yueyue. He agreed too. I never expected..."
Gu Yehan shot a resentful glance at my dad in the distance.
"But what surprised me even more was that our families' relationship soured over one contract. Yueyue got engaged to someone else. The moment I heard I rushed back home without delay."
His tone was calm, but his words carried sincerity, seriousness toward me, and affection.
Suddenly a handsome face loomed large before me.
"Yueyue won't you consider me?"
My ear tips flushed slightly. I only uttered four words. "Depends on your performance."
"I won't give up."
In the days that followed his pursuit played out at least seven or eight hundred times a day without fail.
At first I remained unmoved. After all many people had pursued me. But I was surprised that none of his pursuits ever repeated.
Every time his eyes showed unprecedented seriousness.
Alright I was moved.
Three months later.
I sat on a hospital chair wearing a mask holding the prenatal checkup report I had just gotten.
"Congratulations Miss Song. You're already three months pregnant."
The doctor's words kept ringing in my head.
I hadn't expected Gu Yehan to succeed on the first try.
I felt conflicted unsure how to tell my parents.
I left the hospital with a heavy heart completely unaware of the little tail trailing behind me.
