Chapter 7 The Engagement Cancellation
Momo clutched her painfully throbbing belly. Her eyes were filled with despair. "A Huai..."
Shen Huaizhi kicked her again. His eyes were ruthless. "Hurry up and apologize to Uncle, Aunt, and A Yue!"
"Don't call me A Yue. It disgusts me." I swept my disgusted gaze over Shen Huaizhi's face.
Shen Huaizhi was about to lose it. But after seeing my parents' faces he didn't dare say a word. He just responded in a flattering tone.
Yet his smile looked like it hid a knife, masking his hypocritical and ambitious heart to me.
"Song Yue, it's my fault." Shen Huaizhi wore a look of remorse. "I was bewitched by this bitch and did such a thing. Please forgive me, will you?"
"A Huai..." Momo looked heartbroken. She clutched her belly her voice growing louder with each cry. "A Huai my belly hurts so much... Last night you told me..."
I watched the red stain spread across the hem of Momo's white skirt and let out a mocking laugh. "Shen Huaizhi you're really something. Our wedding hasn't even happened yet and you've already caused a death."
Shen Huaizhi finally reacted. He looked at the little green tea, his eyes widening.
He wanted to pick her up but he hesitated because of the rest of us.
"Uncle Aunt I..."
"Enough. Since A Huai has apologized we'll leave today's matter at that." My dad mindful of past affection didn't press further.
"But I will cancel the engagement on some day. Now get lost!"
My parents' disgust for Shen Huaizhi and Momo was openly displayed.
I smiled barely agreeing with my dad's decision. Yet inside I felt even more annoyed.
I saw Shen Huaizhi's urgency and resentment in his actions bit by bit.
But he forced a flattering smile picked up Momo and left in a panic.
I looked at the bloodstain on the floor and sneered coldly. I hoped they and the child would be safe.
Soon after the family servants came quietly to clean up the blood.
Gu Yehan heard the big news that I was about to break my engagement with Shen Huaizhi. He came straight to my house and began to persuade my dad.
After dealing with Shen Huaizhi's mess my mom seemed less opposed to Gu Yehan.
"Uncle Song everything from back then is in the past. Why keep holding on?" Gu Yehan spoke with some helplessness.
"So what? It happened and the grudge remains."
My dad refused to budge while Gu Yehan continued to plead his case.
"Uncle Song you promised me back then that you would leave Yueyue to me as my wife."
"You were so young then. That doesn't count."
I listened to their conversation with a puzzled expression.
When had this happened?
Gu Yehan exhausted every argument but my dad remained unmoved.
In the end he even offered the Gu family shares for free just to be with me.
But my dad blocked him with one sentence. "I'm not selling my daughter."
Still Gu Yehan didn't give up. In the following days he came to my house every day to make himself known.
The engagement between me and Shen Huaizhi was canceled by both families because of Momo's pregnancy and miscarriage. Not to mention Gu Yehan's behind-the-scenes actions.
Momo had indeed been pregnant. But the child was kicked away by Shen Huaizhi. To make it up to her he even planned to give Shen family shares provided the little green tea could have another child.
But a few days later it turned out the child wasn't Shen Huaizhi's at all.
It was conceived from her messing around. She wanted to pin it on a rich dad.
Now the child was gone the dad was gone and her reputation at school was ruined.
She was reportedly hiding at home not daring to face anyone.
Her life wasn't easy.
Shen Huaizhi fared no better. The cuckold incident already tormented him. Plus the Gu and Song families were pressuring the Shen family.
In an instant the Shen family was brought low and everyone bullied them.
Everyone wanted a share of the spoils.
