28. Chapter 28
Jasmine
Being an attorney for the mafia isn’t what I imagined it to be.
I assumed when I was working at a big firm, I only handled the real estate aspect of things.
Turns out, that’s the bulk of it. The Caruso family is surprisingly very clean in their…
transactions, so it’s been a lot of negotiating contracts and purchasing warehouses and casinos that have kept me occupied the past month.
The most dangerous part of this job is the proximity it puts me in with Dario.
I look across the aisle of the plane at the man in question.
After my moment of weakness weeks ago, I’ve tried to keep things professional between the two of us.
Now that we’re headed to my home state, it’s crucial I prove that.
I wasn’t aware until very recently that my employer uses the cybersecurity company Anna’s husband owns.
Apparently, it was imperative we fly out to discuss business with them.
Skyla has also recently moved there, and I have no doubt my two friends will want to meddle and make sure something happens between me and the man whose family I work for.
“I know I’m pretty, but do you plan to keep staring, or is there something you wanted to say?”
I scoff at Dario’s words, shaking my head to rid myself of thoughts from that incredible night. I really miss the way that man feels between my legs.
Not bothering to grant him a response, I unbuckle my seat belt and go to the snack bar near the back of this fancy-as-fuck plane.
My hands graze over the options, finally deciding on a piece of fruit, when a looming presence comes up behind me.
“You know,” he practically purrs in my ear, and I hate how responsive my body is to him. “There’s a bedroom on the plane.”
I turn and give Dario my best eat-shit-and-die grin. “That sounds splendid. I think I may take a nap, and then I won’t have to listen to you and your nonsense.”
He steps closer toward me, and I’m unable to hide the way my breath catches. “You seem tense. I could join you in there and help relieve some of that.”
I sigh. “While a massage should be included in my benefits package when it comes to working with you, I think I’ll pass.”
Dario grips my waist, running a thumb over the sheer fabric and doing things to me I’m honestly ashamed about. “Let me make myself clear, Miss Baker. If I take you into that room,” he leans down to whisper directly in my ear, “it will be to fuck that delicious pussy of yours I miss so much.”
My thighs involuntarily clench at the wondrous memory, but I manage to grit my teeth and thrust my hand up between him, palming the fruit I chose as a snack. “I would fuck this banana before I would ever fuck you.”
His chuckle sounds behind me as I make it back to my seat, trying to hide all evidence that the man is getting to me.
“Jazzy!” A smile I thought was long forgotten spreads as my friend Skyla rushes toward me from a cute little fainting couch. There are books on shelves in the little nook, and I have no doubt my romance-reading friend has made it her own personal library.
I hug her back, holding on tight as I realize how much I’ve missed my friends. “Hey, Sky. I’ve missed you so much. This is Dario.”
“Nice to meet you,” Dario says from behind me, and I don’t miss the way my friend’s green eyes track up and down his body.
I leave them to their introductions, shaking my head as I make my way over to the counter, where an older gentleman blushes as a spry, gray-haired lady whispers in his ear.
“Hi, I’m Jasmine Baker. Dario Caruso and I are checking in for the week.”
“Welcome to Sheets n’ Sweets. I’m Walter, and this here is my Hazel.”
My heart warms at how he addresses the woman beside him. I give her a nod, but her eyes are busy darting between me and my employer. A sly smile forms on her face, and I know she and Skyla are kindred spirits.
“Here are your keys. You’ll be in rooms three and four. When you go upstairs, they’re the two rooms on the right.” Walter holds out two keys from little hooks, but before I can take them, Hazel snatches them from his hand.
“Actually,” she draws out, “there’s been a bit of a mix-up. I accidentally overbooked, and the two of you will have to share a room.”
Skyla waltzes over, wearing a denim dress and adorable tennis shoes with cherries printed all over them.
Dario is by her side, and I know the two of them together could be very dangerous for me.
“Oh, what a shame. You could stay with me, Jaz, but you know how messy I can be. I know you hate that. You also know what a bed hog I am. You should probably room with Dario.”
My friend smiles brightly at me, but I can see through her bullshit. “Nice try. I’m not falling for one of your romance book schemes.”
“It’s not a scheme!” she and Hazel insist in simultaneous, sweet voices.
“Oh, you two leave the poor girl alone,” Walter says, and I mouth a silent thank you to him. He holds his hand out to Hazel, who reluctantly returns the keys.
The kind man hands one to me and the other to Dario, and I thank him again before heading toward the stairs. Behind me, Dario is speaking to the man about extra blankets when he says, “Oh, and would you happen to have any fruit I could take up to my room? I’d love to have a snack later tonight.”
I’ve been tossing and turning all night, despite the fact this bed is much more comfortable than mine in Vegas.
It’s been an amazing trip out here, going over the necessary details with Phisherman’s Cybersecurity and getting to hang out with my best friends.
Maybe it’s knowing tomorrow I’ll be leaving them again as we head back home is why sleep evades me.
Maybe it’s the throbbing between my legs that needs to be taken care of.
Tossing the covers to the side, I slide out of bed and walk over to my suitcase. I unzip the top part, then take out the bag I bring on every trip. As I’m about to climb into bed, there’s a soft knock on my door.
“Jasmine? Are you okay?”
I groan, hide my bag of toys underneath the sheets, and walk across the room. I lean my head forward, allowing my forehead to rest against the wood. “What do you want, Dario?”
“I heard you moving around. I wanted to make sure everything was all right.”
No, everything is not all right. You stuck your stupid devil of a tongue in my pussy, and now she aches for it every night.
“I’m fine. About to go back to bed.”
I wait for a moment in silence, but as I’m about to turn away, Dario speaks again. “Can I come in?”
I shouldn’t. There is nothing good that can come from me opening this door and allowing this man entrance to my room. So why do I turn the lock and twist the knob?
Holy fuck, I was wrong. There is definitely something good to be seen as Dario stands in front of me with no shirt on.
His impeccable abs are on full display, and I can see the two Joker cards on his chest clearly, where I’ve only been able to glimpse a peek before.
I find relief when my eyes reach his waist and see he isn’t entirely bare before me, but it goes away quickly when he shifts in his gray sweatpants, displaying an impressive erection that has my mouth watering.
“Jasmine? Are you sure you’re all right?”
I look up at him, admiring his concern, but quickly growing annoyed when I see that stupid, handsome smirk on his face. He definitely caught me ogling his body.
“I’m tired. So if it’s all the same to you, I think I’ll go to bed now. You should do the same.”
I go to close the door, but his strong hand grips it, forcing the wood to remain in place. “You sound like you need something to help you sleep.”
Yup. An orgasm. But not from you. “I can manage.”
“Well, I’m wide awake, and since you’re awake, how about we play a little game?”
My nose crinkles. “I’ve already told you I don’t know how to play those games.”
“I have another game in mind.”
“What is it?”
His smile spreads, and even through the darkness, I can see how perfect it is. “Make Jasmine come.”
“Straight to jail. Get out. Now. I’m going to bed.”
I turn my back on him, but his chuckle tells me he isn’t retreating. “Come on, Jaz, I own a casino. We can make a bet.”
Something about the way he shortens my name has my body tingling. “What exactly would we be betting?”
He smiles as though he’s caught me in his trap. “If I can’t give you at least one orgasm tonight, then I’ll end my pursuit. I’ll stop all advances, and our relationship will become strictly professional.”
“And if you do?” I ask, worried about the answer, but since I don’t want him to know that, I tack on, “Not that you will.”
Dario steps closer, close enough to tuck a golden lock of hair behind my ear. “When I win,” he leans down so his mouth is where his hand just traveled, “and I always win, then you promise to go to Inferno with me. For one night. As mine. Completely.”
I shudder as he takes my earlobe into his mouth and nips at it. When he pulls away, I back up, my thighs hitting the edge of the bed.
“What would we do at Inferno?”
His smile widens, and he adjusts himself. “We’d revisit the room I took you to that first night. You made me crawl to you; I think it’s only fair you do the same.”
I gulp, glancing back at the bed and seeing my pouch of toys. I could easily send him on his way and take care of the job myself. But something tells me an orgasm from Dario would feel so much better. Not that I’m going to let that happen.
“I have conditions.”
His tongue darts over his lips. “I bet you do.”
“You can’t use your dick,” I shout and then wince, hoping everyone else in the bed-and-breakfast is sound asleep.
Dario claimed he was dangerous, but I never truly believed it until now, when he looks at me with evil desire in his eyes. “I recall you saying you’d fuck this before you would ever fuck me. Thought we’d go ahead and get that over with now.”
I stare at the banana in Dario’s hand and gulp. “That was a joke.”
“So you’d rather fuck me?”
I shake my head. “No, that’s not what I mean. But you can’t use a banana. How is that even supposed to work? Besides, I could get an infection. Then I’d be out of work. Your family would be mad. It’s a lose-lose situation.”
“Jasmine.”
“Yeah?”
“Lie down and shut the fuck up.”
