Chapter 73

After I finished talking with my siblings and mother about everything that we needed to discuss, they left the safety of the cellar to do anything that they wanted to do within reason inside the house, and I followed them, deciding that it would be best to start going to the pub, especially since I needed to make sure that I was there before the prince and his guard was there.

"Marini?" my mother asked when she saw me place a cloak on my shoulders, and I looked at her and raised an eyebrow in question. She bit back a small frown on her face, and a look of worry flashed through her eyes while she studied me.

I bit back a tired sigh and shook my head, pursing my lips in annoyance while I finished tying my cloak around my neck and pulled my cloak around the front of my body.

"I think it is time for me to go, Mama," I said while I tucked my head closer to my chest, biting back a small frown.

"I have to make sure that the prince gets there safely and that I am there before is there. "

My mother furrowed her brows and slowly nodded. A look of worry flashed through her eyes while she studied me. "And what about the shirt?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question.

What about the shirt that needs to get done in the cellar..?

"I will get it done after I am back home," I said and shook my head, hesitating ever so slightly before I cleared my throat while I shifted on my feet. "Unless you want to do it before I get done with this."

My mother bit back a tired sigh and shook her head. "No," she said. "You can go ahead and do it after you are back here after training. Ok? Do you think you will need help with the shirt so that you can complete it?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question while she studied me.

I shook my head, pressing my lips into a thin line. "I will be able to fix it myself, but I do appreciate the offer, Mama. Thank you."

My mother nodded and bit back a tired sigh while she looked at my siblings before she looked at me. "Go ahead and go. I will see you when you get back home, so if that means that I am asleep, I want you to wake me up and tell me that you are home. Is that understood?"

I pressed my lips into a thin line and hesitated before I slowly nodded, not liking the idea of waking her up when she needed the sleep. I didn't say a word, and my mother seemed to know what I was thinking, biting back a small smile.

"I want to make sure that you are safe and alive, Marini. Is that understood?"

I bit back a tired sigh and slowly nodded before I picked up my basket while I stared at them. I didn't say a word and slowly blinked, pressing my lips into a thin line.

"You may go ahead and leave to go to the pub, my love," she said and tucked her head closer to her chest while she set her jaw and pressed her lips into a thin line. "I will see you tonight."

"Ok, Mama," I said before I cleared my throat while I shifted on my feet.

"I love you, Mama, and I will see you tonight.

Excuse me." I bowed my head before I walked to the back door, deciding that it would be best if I went the back way and not through the front where I could get stopped by anyone before I could reach the pub.

"Marini?" my mother asked, and I turned to look at her and raised an eyebrow in question. She frowned and furrowed her brows while she studied me, and I could tell that she did not like the fact that I was leaving through the back door. "Are you ok? Why are you going that way?"

I held back an eye roll and pressed my lips into a thin line. "I am going to take the alleyways to get there. I do not want to be stopped by someone else," I said and shook my head.

"Are you sure?" my mother asked, and I nodded in confirmation. She bit back a small frown and slowly blinked without saying another word, and a look of worry flashed through her eyes.

"I will be fine, Mama," I said while I tucked my head closer to my chest, and I offered her a small smile. "They will make sure that I am safe."

My mother bit back a tired sigh and nodded, silently relenting without much of a fight, and I had to bite my lip to keep back a small sob of relief because I was scared she would start an argument and make me late.

"Ok," she said before she cleared her throat and shifted on her feet.

"Be careful. Is that understood?" She raised an eyebrow in question while she studied me.

I bit back a small smile, and I nodded in agreement. "I know," I said, "and I will be as careful as I can be, ok?" I raised an eyebrow in question while I studied her.

My mother pressed her lips into a thin line, and a look of worry flashed through her eyes. "Make sure that your hood is covering your face, please," she said. "I do not want you to g-"

"I won't get hurt by anyone in the alleyways, Mama," I said and shook my head, interrupting her.

I grabbed my hood and pulled the hood over my head, biting back a tired sigh.

"I will see you tonight after I am done with Jonah and everything.

" I turned to look at the kids to see that they were staring at me, expectantly and cleared my throat while I grew serious.

"Stay inside the house, and do not try to leave.

Also, do not let anyone in the house unless Mama deems it safe.

Is that understood?" I raised an eyebrow in question while I studied them.

"Ok," they said in unison and nodded.

I grunted and looked at Mama while I grew serious. "I don't advise anyone coming here when I am gone, Mama," I said with a shake of my head. "Sheamus is fine to come inside the house, but I think that is the only person that should come in while I am gone."

My mother bit back a tired sigh before she slowly nodded. "Ok," she said. "Now, go. Stay safe, and I will see you later this evening when you are home, safe and sound."

I bit back a tired sigh, and I slowly nodded before I started to leave without another word from anyone.

Oh, for the love of the Great...
