Chapter 79

We made it to the back with no other interruptions, and I breathed a small sigh of relief. I picked up my pace and started to basically jog toward my dragon with the rest of the group following me.

Not a word was spoken between the four of us while we jogged, and I could tell that they were getting nervous for me for some reason.

I kept jogging toward my dragon with the rest of the group following me when I sensed something coming toward us in the opposite direction. "Stop and stay back for a second," I said and kept jogging toward the feeling. 'Something is coming our way."

The group that I was with did what I told them to do and stopped jogging but kept walking to make sure that I was going to stay safe.

"Oh for the love of the Great," I grumbled under my breath and picked up my pace, much to the annoyance of the group behind me.

They kept walking, but they did pick up their pace, and the ?ren was first with the prince behind him and then Lexus taking the rear. They didn't say a word and didn't try to get me to slow down, much to my relief, but I could tell that they wanted to go much faster than they were.

They didn't want me to get hurt...

The feeling drew closer and closer to me, and my heart skipped a beat before it started to pound harder and faster in my chest because I knew that feeling, even if I couldn't hear the cause of it.

Shilan...

Something started to roar in front of us, the roars not as powerful and strong but was enough to send Caspian a little over the edge while he tried to get to me but couldn't because of the Elf in front of him.

"Marini," he said nervously. "W-"

"It's fine," I said, interrupting him with a shake of my head. "It is onl-" I wasn't able to finish my sentence when the roaring creature crashed into me, and I tumbled backward with my basket knocked out of my hands.

Thud!

"Oomph." I landed hard on my back and laid my head on the ground after I was down, and the wind was knocked out of me.

The creature that had knocked me over sat on my stomach and stared at me with an intense stare on his face, even though I couldn't see it because my eyes were closed.

I groaned in pain and annoyance before I gritted my teeth together, keeping my eyes shut and praying that the world would stop spinning.

The thing on my stomach shoved its snout into my face and blew out, letting out a small trail of smoke.

I groaned and shoved the creature's head away from my face, knowing full well that it was Shilan. "Shilan," I groaned and gritted my teeth together. "Did you have to shove me down onto the ground?"

My dragon growled and shoved his head against my hand hard. He didn't say a word that I could hear, but I knew that he was wondering if I could hear him now that we were together.

I bit back an annoyed sigh and opened my eyes to see him staring at me with wide eyes filled with fear and anxiety. "No," I said and shook my head. "I can't hear you. I am hoping that Arden and Jonah will be able to help us get it back and figure out why it had happened in the first place.

Shilan growled and touched his snout to where my mark laid before he breathed out, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes and scowl, pressing my lips into a thin line.

"I am sure that it is still there, Shilan," I said sarcastically. "I do not know how you would be able to get rid of a mark."

Shilan rolled his eyes and looked at me unamused. He said something to me that I was grateful that I didn't hear because I knew that it would be something sarcastic that I wouldn't approve of.

I gave him the stink eye and scowled, narrowing my eyes. "Be glad that I can not understand you with that last comment, Shilan," I warned. "Now, will you get up? You are heavy."

Shilan said something and laid down on my stomach with his tail between my legs. He flicked his tail from side to side and let out a comfortable growl, stating that he was comfortable and was not going to move.

I bit back a small groan of annoyance and laid down resting my hand on his neck. "We do have guests, Stupid," I said and closed my eyes, enjoying the company of my dragon. "I am surprised that no one has said anything or you noticed a certain man."

Shilan lifted his head as soon as I said that and looked at Caspian. He looked at him before he nudged my cheek, wanting me to open my eyes so that I could see the look on his face.

I opened my eyes and looked at the smug look on his face, and my cheeks instantly turned red. "Stop," I said and shoved his face away from my face. "I am so glad that I am not able to hear you right now."

Shilan rolled his eyes and got off of me, and I couldn't help but groan in annoyance because he decided that he wanted to hurt me in doing so.

"Stupid," I all but seethed before I started to get up. "It's not my fault that the bond between us has been broken."

Shilan looked at me and rolled his eyes. He said something sassily, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes and scowl.

"I still can't hear you, Shilan," I said coldly, and I knew that he mocked me after I said that. I scowled and narrowed my eyes in warning. "Shilan," I warned and bared my teeth in warning.

Shilan looked at me with wide eyes filled with innocence and nervousness. He grinned and tucked his head closer to his chest before he turned his attention back to the three guests we had.

I bit back an annoyed sigh and rolled my eyes before I went to grab my basket and make sure that nothing had fallen out before I picked it up and then started to stand.

"Uhhhh, Marini," Caspian said, hesitating ever so slightly while his voice became barely above a whisper. "He is coming toward us."

"Be nice, Shilan," I said and stood, moving a hand across my skirt before I turned to look at them with only Caspian looking nervously at the dragon and the other two looking curious.

Shilan stopped in his advancement toward the group before he turned to look at me. He rolled his eyes and flicked his tail, and a look of annoyance flickered through his eyes while he said something mockingly.

"I am serious, Shilan. Now, come on. Jonah and Arden are waiting for us, and I thought you were supposed to be waiting for me in the training room."

Shilan shrugged and flicked his tail. He turned his attention back to Caspian before he looked at me slowly blinking before he said something that I couldn't hear.

I rolled my eyes and scowled, pressing my lips into a thin line. "Let's go, Shilan," I said. "The rest of you can come as well." I looked at them.

Shilan sighed and rolled his eyes. He groaned something out in annoyance before he started to walk away from the group, making his way over to me.

I watched him walk over to me and scowled, narrowing my eyes at him, and Shilan grinned innocently. "You need to stop getting into trouble, Shilan," I said coldly. "We are the last pairing."

Shilan rolled his eyes and scowled. He stopped in front of me and pressed his nose hard against where my mark laid, saying something sarcastically.

I bit back an annoyed sigh and rubbed my dragon's nose. "I know," I grumbled. "It's not my fault, though. I didn't expect that to happen or even knew that something like that could happen."

"What happened?" Caspian asked, making his way over to us with the others following him. "Why are you and then everyone else in the alleyways so restless?"

"You'll know when we meet with Jonah and Arden," I said and shook my head. "Now come on because we are being waited on." I started to make my way toward where I knew that Jonah and Arden would be waiting for us.

"Are you sure?" the ?ren asked, switching to the Elvish language. He looked at the prince before he looked at me. "I am not sure if it is a good idea."

I rolled my eyes and scowled, pressing my lips into a thin line.

It wouldn't matter," I said, following his lead and switching to the Elvish language, and Lexus studied us.

"He will know in time, anyway." I paused and licked my lips, hesitating ever so slightly and the colors that I saw when we visited the Old Man flashed through my eyes.

"I believe that we are bound together in some shape or form, but I do not know how or why. .."
