Chapter 10
I know I was being rude to an elder but she started it.
You're still rude.
Shut up, me.
I have a habit of talking to myself at times.
Kris believes that being kind is always the solution to everything. She has no knowledge of the outside world. The world is a mess. Money rules everything, rich people are above the law, and other nonsense. She might, no, she will get in trouble if she is overly generous to everyone.
One moment you're fine, the next you witness yourself being stabbed in the back.
I just sighed and closed my eyes, dozing off to sleep.
But before I could feel darkness fully embrace me, someone shook me.
I rubbed my eyes and stood up. I thanked her and picked up my backpack. I followed them through the forest.
While walking, I heard a noise near me. I didn't stop walking but yet heightened my senses.
The noise was fading away, only then, five huge grown wolves pounced on us one by one.
I heard my sister scream and as instinct, my head turned to her, it didn't occur to me faster that a wolf is gonna pounce on me.
Like slow motion, I looked at the wolf jumping into the air, with its claws and teeth bared out threateningly at me, and it landed straight on top of me. It was huge and because of its weight, I fell to the ground.
My eyes widened, I put my hands out in attempt to stop the wolf. It was trying to bite my neck, I avoided its disgusting teeth as much as I can.
When I got the strength to push it off, I kicked him below and he whined, indicating I hurt him. Good.
I got up and prepared a stance, I grabbed the knife that was hidden on my boots and used it as a defensive weapon.
When the wolf was about to pounce on me again, I ducked which result in it hitting a tree behind me.
With that much impact, he growled loudly and whined.
It shook it head in an attempt to clear its vision. When it recovered, it attacked me again but this time I was ready.
I ducked when he tried pouncing on me again. This time it landed perfectly on all fours. It growled ever so loudly.
It attacked me again and pinned me to the ground.
It bit my right arm where I was holding the knife. I screamed and tried to push it off.
It stopped but was now heading for my head. Its mouth was wide open, ready to rip my head off.
My eyes widened and I did what was originally my plan before I was bitten.
When it lowered its head, I took that as my signal to engage. When it was about to get close to my face, it was too late since the knife in my shaking hand had already been stabbed straight to its skull.
We look like shit.
We somehow survive the wolf attack. It was like everyone was ready and predicted that it will happen. After I stabbed the wolf, I helped Kris with the one she's dealing with.
I was holding the knife with my left so it was a bit harder to fight. But fortunately, there were two of us and it was a lot weaker than mine so it was easy to deal with.
When we turned to others they had their own weapons out and they fought the wolves with their own strength.
Fortunately, no one was hurt badly, just a few scratches here and there.
Kris and I were talking when I noticed that a noise was beginning to reach my ears. I looked at Tobias wondering if he heard it and he did. He looked at me for help so I listened more.
It was from the west. My spider senses are tingling. I mean... my ear senses tells me so.
We started walking left, Tobias leading us.
For what seems to be 10 minutes of walking, we came to an end because we ended up in a cliff. Very high cliff.
The noise was coming from a town, a little far away from us but the noise is loud. Looks like they're having a party.
We all headed to that direction by going down the cliff. Good thing they have equipments.
They hooked themselves where it had a strong core. Same as I did.
I took Kris with me because she knew nothing about this, and plus, she's very light.
The elders know how to do this which is weird and also amazing because of their age. It's true what they say.
Age is just a number.
After all of us came down without problems, we started walking to town.
Before we could continue, I immediately told them to stop, noticing something on the air.
I looked around finding a medium sized rock. I picked it up, throwing it in front of us, just a few meters away.
Then, the trap appeared. It went up and the rope tightened it's knot.
A trap in the middle of the forest and close to the town.
I noticed it when the tree was slightly crooked to the side and had a random rope hanging around it.
That's 3 for me. Hah.
It makes me wonder why there's traps here.
But, it is the forest after all. A lot of hunters set this things up to hopefully catch their preys.
What's weird is that, it's close to town, people might get in trouble if they don't see those traps.
I guess we got lucky since I saw the trap. Otherwise, we'll all be hanging in the air.
Before we could continue walking, six people appearing out of nowhere, suddenly blocked our way.
Staring furiously at us. One of them let out a murderous growl.
And all of them happens to be topless.
