Chapter 41
"Don't shoot him!"
I woke up with sweat and wide eyes. I looked around and relief flooded me as soon as I recognized the room. I slept throughout the day because I was tired from all the training.
Today's the day the fight's happening. Everything is prepared since day one and everyone is in shape.
Lilo and the Alpha has been talking to me the whole day, updates and any problems they encounter they deliver it to me and I check it out.
The atmosphere between Zeke and I is tense, what happened that day was seriously something that you cannot forget. It stopped my world, my breath and my actions.
I was speechless, I didn't know what to think as my lips met his. It was passionate, full of longing but I know he's holding back.
But why?
A week has passed since Kyle and I planned our strategy in their war room. The Alphas agreed to have their own people train with us in order to participate in this fight.
We took the ballroom that was big enough to accommodate Mystic Heart, and the garden that was somewhat part of the forest to hold the other pack warriors.
I trained them the best I can, from beginning to the last day of their session, I was present and so is the warrior general, Lilo.
He helped me with everyone knowing I can't handle a hundred warriors just by myself. Especially since they have a thing for humans.
I taught them how to hold a gun, and how to shoot one. There were those who took an interest in the explosives, though it wasn't my forte, I taught them what I knew and did my best to assist them.
There were three groups that I've trained. Those who holds the rifles, those who took a liking to the bombs, and those who frontlines.
It's the front liners that I was looking forward to, I want them to prove their skills to everyone, that this kingdom is strong with or without equipment.
The dark night surrounded us, the cold wind blew harshly against my skin, the moon isn't even visible nor the stars because of the clouds.
Looks like the moon doesn't want to witness it happen. But it will happen, we've been preparing for this since last week, we've trained and planned everything precisely.
If we lose, there's gotta be only one reason.
I've given out radios to people who will lead their squad. Lilo has one, the King, the Queen and him.
The soldiers that were with Kali, I took them to take part in the fight. There were not much of them but it's better than nothing. Kali refused to fight, saying that she'd rather die fighting for her own kind than others. I just rolled my eyes at her response and didn't attempt to ask again.
I had my side ready as we were the front liners, we had guns but we had more claws. We will only attack if those behind us runs out of bullets or someone gets through the line we set up.
I took a deep breath and fixed myself. I had a gun strapped to my thigh, an M4A1 in hand, and knives on my waist. The pistol was for emergency purposes only, such as wanting to save someone not so close to me.
The knives however, it's what I'll use to kill anyone that threatens to cross the border.
Weird how I feel so protective of this place when I just found out about it a few days ago.
Before we saw them, we could hear their stomps, it was fast, loud and a lot of paws followed by their howling sound and growls. I braced myself, holding on my gun tightly.
They emerged behind the trees, loud growls echoed throughout the forest as they lunged towards us. I waited til' they cross the line then I commanded everyone to let go of bullets.
Before I could blink, the bullets flew, the taking off sound blared in our ears as we see the werewolves going down one by one.
They were fast, their teeth out as they growled their way to us, only to be met with bullets flying directly towards them.
Whines and whimpers were soon followed, the bodies of the werewolves going down as blood oozed from them in places they were shot at.
Their bodies hit the ground harshly, as my wolves were on high alert beside me.
I was always in front when in combat, I never let someone else be in front because I'm the one that's suppose to lead them, not the other way around.
It also gives me more time to analyze the situation and take action immediately.
The guns were unstoppable, it let go bullet after bullet, not stopping for anything or anyone. The good thing about being in the military is that your ear can be used to the pop sounds.
If it were someone else they'd be jumping on their asses and screaming at the top of their lungs.
The werewolves seem to slow down, but they're definitely not decreasing in number. I didn't worry since it'll take at least half of them for our magazines to run out.
"There's definitely a lot of them." A man beside me groaned. Clearly, but thanks to my Uncle's help, we can hold them out as long as we can.
I let go of the radio and held my gun properly instead, and then I fired the bullets. The recoil isn't something that affected me ever since I've held a gun. I held the M4A1 tightly in my hands, pulling the trigger and aiming at the werewolves heads.
I've got six werewolves down, that's impressive even for me considering their ability to regenerate. I run out of ammo so I told Alec to lend me some since I didn't plan to hold the big gun for long.
My initial plan is to empty my magazine, attack with my knives and kill whoever threatens the territory. But it seems to be pushed back as the werewolves can't cross the second line we've set so we could attack in short range.
I looked around, everyone was still firing bullets at the trespassers, not even an ounce of pity in their eyes. They were trained for this, any emotion, especially pity can lead to defeat.
I grabbed the magazine Alec gave to me and reloaded my gun, without wasting another second I let the bullets go.
As I shoot them, I began to realize something. There were a lot of them, though we have more people. But why do they keep coming as if they're not losing men?
My magazine was empty once again, I wonder why the rogues are acting weird. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion, a lingering question floating in my head.
I picked up my radio wanting to talk to him, I pressed the button and spoke, his response shortly followed.
I ran, faster than I've ever ran towards the castle. The Mystic Heart is in danger, not this kingdom. Where did it all go wrong?
It was planned perfectly, everything was settled and we were all prepared. It was executed perfectly, until I realized something was wrong.
I immediately went inside the castle without prior permission and got down to the garage, I won't get there in time if I walk.
I picked the first key I saw and practically ran towards the car that beeped when I pressed the key. I got in and closed the door, starting the car up.
I wasted no time driving out of that garage and heading towards Mystic Heart. The only reason I know where it is, is because of what Kyle taught me.
"Mystic Heart is always south", he said with a frown on his face, he also said that that land is hard to reach or even enter without anyone noticing.
When I reached the land, my feelings were a mixture of pain, disappointment, anger and despair. Oh no, what've I done?
The pack is in chaos, everyone's running around either blooded or crying. The houses were on fire as shifted people with swords slashed at everyone they saw.
The bloods splashed everywhere, the clothes, the trees, and the ground. I tried to hold back a tear, witnessing what is happening makes me want to puke.
I run towards a person who was about to attack a kid but I pushed him and we both rolled on the ground. I wasted no time getting up and grabbing the knife in my waist to stab his head repeatedly, my eyes held no emotion.
The blood splattered on my face and clothes, the knife still in his head. His eyes rolled back as he took his last breath. I took out the knife and stabbed him in the gut a few more times.
Better be safe than sorry.
I grabbed the kid and we ran towards a shelter, I put him with the others and began to fight back.
I took down three shifted werewolves and five who weren't in wolf form. My hair that was tied in a bun is now a lose one, blood stained it, as it did to my skin. I didn't have time to wash the blood off of my face so I worried about who to kill next.
My blade was covered in red and black, I had to wipe it off with my clothes because it holds too much blood. The gun in my thigh is still staying unless I say so.
I groaned as pain started to circulate in my body, I wasn't suppose to participate in any activity that would harm me, but I did it again, not listening.
I killed another person, but I was caught off guard when someone pounced on me from behind and slashed my back with a sword.
I yelped, rolling away from him. I tried to get up as best as I can, my eyes landing on a person with a bloody sword, his eyes in determination, to kill.
He's breathing heavily as his chest pumped up and down, his eyes blazing fire as he stared at me in hatred.
He growled. "No, it will be yours."
He attacked, swiftly moving towards me as his sword was raised, he tried to wound me but I dodged and immediately got on my feet.
I looked at him as his back was turned to me. "Who are you?" He asks, his voice quivered in anger.
He launched, I barely had the time to react as the sword passed beside my face, he was heading for my head.
I pushed the sword upward with speed, the action seemed to loosen his hold on it, which I took a chance as I grabbed the blade and pulled it towards me, carefully avoiding the edge.
I manage to pull it from him, I turned the handle to me and threateningly pointed it towards him.
I tried to strike his torso, quickly with the knowledge of the parts of the body, I tried to aim for his lower left abdomen.
He dodged immediately and took the sword away from me in seconds, back to his hands. I took a step back, my knives were far away from me as I rolled away.
The only option I have is the pistol in my leg but I need to conceal it and only take it out when someone far away is in danger and I can't get to them in time.
Torn between my life or theirs.
If I was selfish, I'd choose the former. I stepped my other leg forward to try and hide my move. I carefully pushed the dress aside, revealing the strap tied to me and the gun that it holds.
I didn't even have time to pick my clothes as I was in a hurry to assign them to their places. I woke up late and thought I was gonna have time to prepare.
And I always wear comfortable clothes when sleeping, specifically a nightgown. I had only thrown a jacket on top of it because the night got too cold.
I distracted the man by talking to him. Having a conversation with someone while fighting is not something that I'm fond of, I just execute my mission and pack up.
With that, I got the pistol out and pulled the trigger, shooting him in the head. His eyes widened, shock in his features as blood oozed from his forehead.
He stands there, mouth gaped as he looked at me in shock and fury. The sword in his hands dropped to the ground as his grip loosened on it.
He fell on his knees first, then to his hide, his head hitting the ground last. Blood still oozed from his forehead as I aimed my gun to his heart.
I shot the next bullet and left him on the ground, pulling away from him. I stand there, looking at him with no emotion.
There were too many shapeshifters in this area, and I could witness some people shift to deceive people and kill them when they get too close.
A scream caught my attention, my head turned towards the sound witnessing a woman getting stabbed by a shapeshifter.
I pulled out my pistol only to be struck by a heavy metal to my head. I accidentally pulled the trigger and fell down.
The gun is a few distance away from me as I tried to get up. A heavy foot pushed me back down, stepping on my stomach to hold me down.
I groaned lowly, the pain of the claw was still there in my stomach and I'm trying really hard to shift the balance of the foot.
I looked up and witnessed a familiar face smiling down at me. "Well, hello there Katie."
I groaned, my hands pushing the foot away but to no avail. "I thought if you obeyed, I'll fuck you til' you beg me not to anymore."
My eyes blazed in fury, my body shook in anger. Disgusting, I wanted to throw up. I can't believe I left this man to live. I'll make sure he meets his ancestors tonight.
I followed the trail of the sword, only to found the Alpha's face, no trace of emotion in them. He's face was hard, his jaw clenched and his eyes were darker than I've ever seen them.
The gray was nowhere near, only black can be seen from his eyes as he breathed up and down, his fist in knuckle while the other grips the sword strongly.
His veins were popping out of his arms, he was wearing a black polo shirt, blood already staining it, his pants and shoes are also the same.
He looked threateningly at the head, like he wanted to severe it more but unable to because of its state.
I got up and held my injured shoulder, groaning as the pain intensified. This caught his attention as his head turned to me.
I didn't know why.
He didn't reply, he just looked at me without moving. I avoided his gaze, I can feel the aura radiating off of him, it was dark and brooding, I looked around to see what happened. My eyes darted to the place where I was heading to witness the woman on the floor.
I practically ran towards her and crouched down, I looked for a pulse but there was none. I analyzed her body, my eyes took in the bullet wound on her chest.
I inhaled in difficulty, it was definitely my fault. The trigger was pulled when I fell and I was already aiming towards this direction. My aim must've switched.
Her eyes were open and I couldn't see any light in them. She was gone and it was my fault. I killed her with my gun.
I closed her eyelids and silently prayed for her freedom in the next life. I was no Catholic nor Christian but I do know that if someone dies, they depart from this life.
I got up with shame but held my form. I stood tall and grabbed my pistol from my thighs. I checked my bullets and it was finally time for me to do what my purpose here is.
I shut my emotions off, not giving away anything. I put back the magazine and I'm determined to take down shapeshifters that rebelled against the werewolves.
There's no stopping me now.
They're strong enough to handle those things and we don't need to worry since I'm only taking the men with me and left the rest with them.
We got in the car and drove towards their pack. Kali and The Beta was left in charge in case something happens. "Someone found out or we have a rat in our midst."
And it's an unhealthy determination.
Then they're already dead.
We reached the pack, unpacking and grabbing our guns from behind the car. The Alpha had his sword already strapped to his waist.
He took off faster than anyone I've seen as he ran through the crowd, slashing everyone in his way, their bodies falling behind as he stopped at nothing.
I only nodded my head in response and got the team to pick up their guns and fill their pockets with magazines and grenades.
A lot of bodies were already on the ground, blood painted the ground. Houses were on fire as screams and growls took the air.
This pack lacks the capacity to kill anyone so I'd doubt I'd kill one of the Mystic Heart.
I nodded my head and headed deeper into the pack, looking for the Captain. My body was covered in sweat and blood as I look around.
The gun in my hand is strapped to my chest which was going up and down. My eyes were focused on every person that I see.
She wasn't here. Where could she be?
I tried to go deeper again, dragging my ass towards the center of the pack where war is happening.
Then I saw her.
She killed mercilessly, shooting one person, then another, then again and again. She was unstoppable as she took the life of the shapeshifters.
Her back was turned to me, I couldn't make out her face but with that move, I could tell it was her.
She loves pistols, long or short range, she'll use it anywhere just to get her job done.
A man was rushing towards her but she was turned so she couldn't see him. I raised my gun and pulled the trigger, two bullets hit him and he fell to the ground.
Captain turned to the sound and her eyes landed on me. She nodded in appreciation and continued her work.
I smiled in relief, she was still there but the War Angel sure is present. She took down another person but her pistol ran out of ammo. She threw it away and picked up a knife.
I followed closely behind her and covered her, making sure no threat can sneak up on her and harm her.
It's my duty as her second-in-command to protect her at all costs, as she protects us with her life.
Give and take.
I don't know how much time has passed but I lost her. She was too fast and I was busy covering for her. I mentally cursed myself in frustration.
I managed to still live inside this chaos and my problem is looking for the Captain and not myself. It happens when she's the one training you, selfless is her motto.
I bit my lip and looked around, still no sign of her.
The gun in my hand was no longer there, I ran out of ammo a while ago and I had no time to go back and get more magazine.
I was fighting shapeshifters with fist, sometime soon I know I'll lose. I walked and walked until I heard trains of screams towards a direction.
I immediately ran towards it to witness the Alpha and Captain fighting together, side by side. The other one was holding a sword while the other is holding two knives.
They tore through paper-thin skins and killed anyone who attacked them. They were mesmerizing as I watch them in action.
There was a guy aiming towards the Captain and I was about to react but the Alpha already cut the man's head off in one blow.
Captain threw her blade behind the Alpha and it hit a shapeshifter's head. He fell to the ground as blood oozed from him.
The dark night seems to have gone as the moon finally makes an appearance, the cloud that covered it soon dispersed.
The fires in the houses lit up the area, giving vision of the view that's happening. They killed and killed more people and there was nothing on their faces.
Deadly just looking at them, the aura around them was brooding and full of red. They looked as if they won't stop until every shapeshifter is dead.
It seems that shapeshifters heard the news that there's two people that needs to be dead because it seems to me that majority of them are coming their way.
My eyes focused on the duo, they fought hard and their only intent was to kill. They didn't turn their back on each other and didn't stop to rest.
He was lethal and she was deadly, what a perfect combo if you ask me.
I watched in awe as they save each other countless of times from surprise attacks. Why wasn't I helping? Probably because if I step foot into their circle I'd die without a second thought.
Our eyes were focused on them, witnessing them take life without emotion. Their knives were bloodied and so was them. But it didn't stop them from doing what must be done.
A shiver run down my spine as the Alpha lifted the Captain up so she could avoid the upcoming attack, only the sword hit the Alpha in the arm. The Captain looked at the Alpha then back at the man.
She ripped him to shreds. She took the sword out of the mans hand and slashed him across the chest.
The man fell, coughing out blood but she didn't give him time to recover. She tore the head off the body, she gripped it and threw it away, somewhere in the house that's on fire.
It scared me, but it felt good.
