Fresher's party

Author's pov-

The music thumped through the speakers, the dim lights casting a golden glow over the entire hall. The fresher's party was in full swing, with students laughing, dancing, and chattering around. But at this moment, none of it mattered to divya.

Her heart pounded against her ribs as she met purv's cold, unreadable eyes from across the room. For a second, everything else faded into the background-the music, the voices, even kaashi's excited chatter beside her.

She wasn't sure what it was about him. Maybe it was about the way his sharp jawline tensed slightly or the way his deep brown eyes held an intensity that made her breath hitch. But just as she felt something stir inside her, purv looked away as if the moment never existed.

Divya swallowed, forcing herself to turn back toward kaashi, who was busy scanning the crowd.

"Are you even listening?" kaashi nudged her, following her gaze. "Oh.." A knowing smirk appeared on her lips. "Don't tell me you're already crushing on purv?"

"What?" Divya scoffed, trying to mask the nervous flutter in her chest. "Of course not. I was just... Observing.

"Uh-huh." Kaashi raised a brow. "Well, good luck, because purv isn't someone who looks at people like that. You should've seen charvi's reaction when she caught him looking at you."

Divya glanced back. Charvi was seated beside purv, clinging onto his arm, her expression darkened as she whispered something in his ear. Whatever she said, purv didn't react. He merely leaned back, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips as if he found the entire situation amusing.

Divya clenched her fists. Why did that annoy her?

Before she could think further, the host announced something through the mic, grabbing everyone's attention.

"Alright, freshers! It's time for a fun little game," the senior announced. "It's called pair roulette! Each of you will pick a random chit, and whoever's name is inside will be your partner for the next round of activities."

Groans and cheers filled the hall. Divya wasn't too interested until kaashi practically dragged her to the front. "It'll be fun!"

With a sigh, Divya took a chit from the bowl and slowly unfolded it.

Her heart stopped.

Purv Rathore.

She blinked at the name, unsure whether to be excited or terrified.

Meanwhile, across the hall, purv raised a brow as he looked at his own chit. His jaw tightened slightly before he let out a short chuckle, shaking his head.

"Well," he muttered under his breath, standing up from his seat. "This should be interesting."
