Coffee and confusion

Author's pov-

The cafe near campus was warm and inviting, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filling the air. Aditya ordered a cappuccino, while divya settled for a simple iced tea.

"So," Aditya leaned back in his chair, his eyes studying her. "What's your deal with purv?"

Divya blinked, caught off guard. "What?"

Aditya smirked. "Come on, I saw the way he looked at you. And the way you reacted when he spoke."

She scoffed, stirring her drink. "There's nothing between us."

Aditya raised an eyebrow. "Yeah? Then why do you look so defensive?"

She sighed, choosing her words carefully. "He's.... Complicated."

"That's an understatement." Aditya chuckled, then took a sip of his coffee. "Listen, I don't know him personally, but I've heard enough to know he's not someone to get close to."

Divya frowned. "Why do you say that?"

Aditya hesitated before answering. "He's got a reputation, Divya. Not just the 'rich and powerful' thing. People say he's ruthless-gets what he wants, doesn't care who gets hurt in the process."

Divya swallowed, his words hitting harder than she expected.

Aditya leaned forward. "I just think you should be careful."

She forced a smile. "Thanks for the concern, but I can handle myself."

He studied her for a moment before nodding. "Fair enough."

The conversation shifted to lighter topics-music, books, college life-but purv's name lingered in Divya's mind, his presence refusing to fade.

Even when she wasn't with him, he found a way to be everywhere.

And she hated how much that affected her.
