Author's pov-

The sun was setting as divya walked out of the library, Aditya's words still lingering in her mind.

"He's ruthless-gets what he wants, don't care who gets hurt in the process."

It didn't make sense. Purv didn't seem like the kind of person who would hurt someone for no reason. He was cold, yes. Mysterious, definitely. But ruthless? She wasn't sure.

Just as she reached the exit of the building, her phone buzzed.

Her heartbeat shuttered. He had never texted her before. What did he want?

Without overthinking, she turned on her heels and made her way there.

The parking lot was dimly lit, mostly empty. Purv stood leaning against his black car, arms crossed, looking as unreadable as ever.

"You actually came," he said, amusement flickering in his voice.

She rolled her eyes. "You texted me. Thought it might be important."

He studied her, his gaze lingering a little longer than usual. "Did you enjoyed your little coffee date?"

Divya froze. "Were you... watching?"

Purv smirked. "It's a public cafe. Hard to miss."

She crossed her arms, annoyed. "It wasn't a date."

"Hmm." He pushed off his car and stepped closer, his presence demanding attention. "He warned you about me, didn't he?"

Divya hesitated. "Why do you care?"

Purv chuckled, but there was no humor in it. "I don't. Just curious what people are saying this time."

She exhaled. "He said you're ruthless. That you don't care who gets hurt in the process."

Purv's jaw tightened for a fraction of a second before he masked it with indifference. "And you? Do you believe that?"

Divya wanted to say no. But the truth was, she didn't know.

He took another step forward, close enough that she could feel the warmth of his presence. "I don't care what people talk about me. But if you're going to believe every warning you hear, then you should probably stay away."

Her breath hitched. There it was-his way of pushing people away before they could even try to get close.

But something in her refused to step back.

"You're right," she said softly. "I don't know you. But I don't think you're as heartless as you want people to believe."

For the first time, something unreadable flickered in purv's eyes.

He didn't reply. Instead, he opened his car door and got in. Before driving off, he rolled down the window.

"Stay out of trouble, Divya."

And just like that, he was gone, leaving her standing there with more questions than answers.
