A plan in motion

Author's pov-

Kaashi sat across from Rudra at a quiet rooftop cafe, watching the city lights flicker in the distance. The cool breeze played with her hair as she wrapped her hands around her cup of coffee. Rudra, on the other hand, leaned back in his chair, looking unusually lost in thought.

"So, what did purv say?" Kaashi asked, breaking the silence.

Rudra exhaled, shaking his head. "I talked to him, but I don't think he understood a single word. That guy is completely out of his mind these days."

Kaashi arched an eyebrow. "You mean more than usual?"

Rudra smirked slightly but then sighed. "I told him straight up that he still has feelings for Divya. You know what he said? 'I don't expect her to be the same.' Like, what even is that supposed to mean?"

Kaashi let out a short laugh, shaking her head. "It means he's still trying to lie to himself. Meanwhile, Divya is doing everything in her power to pretend she doesn't care. What a mess."

Rudra tapped his fingers on the table. "A mess that we need to clean up."

Kaashi tiled her head. "And how do you propose we do that?"

Rudra shrugged. "Push them together. Make sure they have no choice but to face whatever this is."

Kaashi thought for a moment. "Something professional. If we force them into an emotional confrontation, they'll just put up their walls. But if it's buisness... they won't be able to avoid eachother."

Rudra nodded. "A collaboration, an event-something where they have to work together."

Kaashi smirked. "And where purv can see that Divya isn't the girl he left behind."

Rudra leaned in slightly. "Exactly. And maybe then, he'll finally admit what we already know."

A moment of silence stretched between them. The wind picked up, rustling kaashi's hair, and Rudra's gaze lingered on her for just a second too long.

"You know," he said, his voice quieter now, "for someone who acts like she doesn't care, you sure do put a lot of efforts into fixing other people's lives."

Kaashi turned to him, her smirk softening into something else. "And what about you? You act like you don't care about anything, but here you are, trying to fix purv's mess."

Rudra let out a low chuckle. "Touche."

Kaashi looked away, focusing on the skyline. "We should focus on the plan."

Rudra nodded, but his eyes remained on her for just a second longer before he turned back to his coffee.

Neither of them said it out loud, but somewhere between their scheming and conversations about their bestfriends, something was shifting.

And neither of them was sure if they were ready for it.
