An unavoidable collision

Author's pov-

The plan was simple-at least, that's what kaashi and Rudra told themselves. A collaboration between purv's company and the firm Divya was associated with. Nothing too obvious, just a well-placed opportunity that would force them to interact without either of them realising they were being set up.

Kaashi tapped her fingers against her notebook as she sat in the library, waiting for Rudra to show up. The evening sun poured golden light through the large windows, making the air feel warm despite the cool breeze from the AC.

She didn't have to wait long. Rudra arrived, looking effortlessly casual in his black hoodie and jeans. He plopped down in the seat across from her, tossing a file onto the table.

"Done. Purv will be attending the buisness conference. And guess what?" He said, smirking.

Kaashi narrowed her eyes. "What?"

"Divya's firm is handling a major segment of the event. She has no choice but to be there."

Kaashi grinned. "Perfect. Now all we have to do is sit back and watch the fireworks."

Rudra chuckled. "You say that like we didn't just pull of a mini-conspiracy."

Kaashi leaned forward, resting her chin on her hand. "Hey, it's not our fault they're too stubborn to see what's right infront of them."

Rudra nodded, but his smirk faded slightly as he studied her. There was something about kaashi when she was focused- something determined, almost fierce. He never really paid attention before, but now...

"You really care about her, huh?" He said, his voice softer.

Kaashi glanced at him, surprised. "Ofcourse, I do. She's my bestfriend. I saw her breaking, Rudra. I saw the way she had to pick herself up, all alone, in a city where she knew no one. I can't let her go through that again."

Rudra exhaled, leaning back. "Yeah... I get that."

Kaashi raised an eyebrow. "You do?"

He hesitated, then shrugged. "I know what it's like to watch someone self-destruct and not be able to do a damn thing about it."

For a moment, neither of them spoke. The weight of unspoken thoughts hung between them.

Then kaashi, deciding to lighten the mood, smirked. "Well, now we can do something about it. And I, for one, can't wait to see purv struggle."

Rudra chuckled, shaking his head. "You're enjoying this way too much."

Kaashi just grinned.

Purv sat in his chair, scrolling through the email that had just landed in his inbox. His expression was unreadable, but his grip on the mouse tightened slightly.

Divya's name was there. Right in the middle of the official documentation.

Her company was leading a key segment at the upcoming buisness conference. Which meant he'd be seeing her again.

Working with her.

He leaned back, exhaling slowly.

"You wanted to move on," he told himself, staring at screen. "Then why the hell does this still bother you?"

But there was no answer. Only silence.

And an email that guarenteed he wouldn't be able to ignore Divya any longer.
