Revenge
Nicholas's pov
The human kneels before me, her wrists bound in silvered chains, eyes wide and shining with terror. Her pulse betrays her-rapid, desperate, loud. I can hear it even without leaning close, the rhythm of her life echoing through the chamber like a drum meant only for me.
I tilted her chin upward with a single finger.
"Do not be afraid," I murmured, my voice was calm, almost sounding bored. "I promise it won't hurt."
Her lips parted as if to beg, but no sound came out.
I lowered my mouth to her throat, my fangs descending slowly, deliberately and then sink my fangs into her neck.
I didn't bother holding her upright anymore. She's just a vessel now. A thing. Her body trembled violently, then stills, her eyes rolled back as darkness closes in.
"Pathetic," I muttered, lips red, eyes blazing.
"My lord."
The voice cuts through the chamber like a blade.
I snarled , ripping my fangs free. Blood dripped down my chin as I turned slowly, fury radiating from me like heat.
The girl slumped fully now, unconscious, her head hanging at an unnatural angle. Only the faint rise of her chest proved she was still alive.
Few things earn my displeasure more swiftly than interruption, and lucius is very well aware of this.
Lucius kneeled several feet away, one knee to the ground, head bowed. His armor gleamed dully in the torchlight, crimson cloak pooling like spilled blood around him.
"You interrupted my feeding," I said coolly. "Why?"
Lucius lifted his head just enough for me to see the tension in his jaw.
"Orian and cassian have returned."
That got my attention. I straightened slowly, wiping my mouth with a handkerchief.
I've sent two of my strongest warriors to the Stonrigde pack to get me the girl. Roman's fated. I've heard she's human and a beauty too.
Roman thought he could get away with what he'd done. The bastard killed my mate, he ripped out her heart right infront of my eyes and for that he's going to pay.
I want him to feel the same pain I felt when he murdered my mate. Before I kill the human I'm going to fuck her, drain her dry and then rip out her fucking heart the way he had done to my precious, Celeste.
"Send them in," I said.
Orian and cassian strode inside the chamber. These two were once Lucien's most trusted men and they weren't ordinary vampires, they're were born with unique gifts. Not all vampires were fortunate like these two and that's why I had to take them and make them mine. They belong to me and not Lucien.
Lucien's next. Once I'm done with Roman, I'm going to kill Lucien and then I'm going to rule over the Vampire Kingdom.
"Where is she?" I asked glancing between the two of them.
Cassian stared down. "We-we couldn't do it."
My jaw ticked. "Couldn't do it!" I repeated.
"Why the fuck couldn't you do it?" I roared.
"We almost had her," Orian spoke.
"I used my magic to draw her out and she came, we close to capturing her but then Roman appeared out of nowhere."
My jaw clenched as I glared at these two. I trusted that they could bring me the human but they failed me. I can't let Roman complete the mate bond. If he does then I've failed my mate.
"I'm giving you another chance," I said. "And this time if you two fools don't bring me the girl I will kill you both myself."
Orian stepped forward, bowing his head. "Don't worry my lord. We promise this time we'll definitely bring the girl to you."
"Good," I murmured. "You're dismissed."
As Orian and Cassian left Lucius entered.
"My lord," he bowed. "You have a visitor."
I raised a brow. "Who is it?"
"It's the witch," he replied.
I exhaled. What does she want now?
"Send her in," I said. "And get rid of this mess," I pointed to the human near my feet.
Lucius nodded, striding toward me and picking up the unconscious human up.
"You know I hate to be kept waiting," a raspy voice spoke.
I lifted my head and locked gazes with Blair, the witch that has been helping me.
Blair is an old witch, she was exiled from her coven years ago for working with dark magic and she also killed a few of her own kind.
She's manipulative, cunning and ruthless but above all she's powerful. As much as I hate witches I have no other choice than to work with one.
She's been helping me deal with Lycans. She had concocted a potion that could allow vampires to walk in the sunlight.
For over the past months I've been sending my people to attack certain packs during daylight which is the perfect moment to strike when the Lycans least expect it.
"Why did you trouble yourself coming all the way here? I should've come to you," I said.
"We're running out of time Nicholas," she said through clenched teeth. "Once Lucien awakens our plan would be ruined."
"So what do you plan to do?" I asked.
Of course I knew we we're running out of time but I didn't really care if Lucien awakens. There's nothing the old fool can do. I know how to deal with him.
She crossed her arms, smirking. "I will get the girl myself since your useless men cannot do a simple task."
I exhaled, leaning against the chair.
"They aren't useless Blair," I defended.
"They said they tried but Roman appeared. You know how these Lycans are, they're protective and territorial of their mates."
She scoffed, glaring at me. "It's been weeks now Nicholas. Stop taking their side and just admit that you're kind is as useless as those filthy mutts."
I clenched my fists, my eyes narrowed at her. She maybe a powerful witch but I could easily kill her but I'll wait for that day to arrive once she's done helping me destroy Roman.
