Chapter 34 #2

Enzo went stiff for a second before letting out a rare laugh and leaning into the photo.

?Aiden and Anna posed together, his hands on her waist while she smiled up at him, her diamond ring shining in the sun. Then the kids jumped into the picture, Leo tried to do a dramatic action pose while Mia kissed Anna's cheek, making a perfect, happy memory.

?The big party that followed was a happy blur. The room was filled with the sounds of clinking glasses, bright laughter, and loud jokes.

?The slow, beautiful song swelled through the ballroom as Aiden led Anna to the center of the floor. He placed one hand securely on the small of her back and took her hand with the other, pulling her close as they began to move to the rhythm.

?Anna rested her hand on his shoulder, leaning in so only he could hear her over the music.

?"You look entirely too handsome in that tuxedo, Mr. Thorne," Anna murmured, a soft smile playing on her lips. "It's a little distracting."

?Aiden chuckled, his grip tightening around her waist just a fraction as he looked down at her. "I could say the exact same about you, Mrs. Thorne. I forgot how to breathe when those doors opened. You took my breath away, Anna."

?"Even with Leo holding the rings hostage?" she teased, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

?"Especially then," Aiden smiled, a deep warmth filling his eyes. "The kid has good instincts. I still can't believe you're officially my wife."

?Anna's smile softened, and she leaned her head against his chest for a brief moment, listening to the steady, familiar beat of his heart. "We made it, Aiden. Through all the chaos, the syndicates, and the bloodlines... we actually built a home."

?Aiden kissed the top of her head, his voice turning low and filled with absolute devotion. "We did. And I meant every single word I said up there at the altar. There is nothing I wouldn't do to keep you and the kids safe. You are my anchor."

?Anna pulled back slightly to look into his dark eyes, her expression fierce but incredibly tender. "I know you did. And you know me, Aiden. I'm right here beside you. If anyone ever tries to disturb this peace we fought for..."

?"I know," Aiden interrupted softly, a knowing, loving smirk touching his face. "But tonight? Tonight is just for us. No business, no threats. Just you and me."

?"Just you and me," Anna agreed, her heart overflowing.

?As the music swirled around them, Aiden dipped her slightly, making her laugh, a real, genuine laugh that reached her eyes. When he brought her back up, their lips met in a sweet, lingering kiss, completely sealed in their own perfect world while the rest of the ballroom faded away.

?Next came the family dances. Enzo stepped up and offered his hand to Anna. As they danced, Enzo spoke quietly. "Your parents would have been proud of you today, Anna. You've brought honor back to the family name."

?Anna smiled warmly. "Thank you, Enzo. For everything."

?Meanwhile, Aiden took Mia's small hands and let her step onto the tops of his shoes, spinning her around the floor while she giggled uncontrollably. Leo marched right up to Enzo, confidently asking him to hand over his mom so he could dance with her, which made the guests burst into laughter.

?At the main table, another scene was unfolding.

Vanessa was sitting across from Marcus's empty chair, sipping her champagne and watching him make a fool of himself on the dance floor.

When Marcus walked back to the table to get a drink, he caught her looking and smirked, giving her a playful wink.

Vanessa quickly looked away, biting back a smile and blushing, while Enzo just shook his head with a quiet chuckle.

?Anna rested her head against Aiden's shoulder and looked around the lively room.

She looked at her family, the kids giggling, Marcus high fiving guests, Enzo and Vanessa sharing a rare, relaxed moment of happiness, and the absolute safety of the room.

This was the peace they had fought so hard to get.

A silent, fierce promise formed deep in her heart. I will protect this peace with everything I have, she thought, her lethal edge sharpening inside her with absolute, deadly clarity.

?As if he could hear her thoughts, Aiden, her husband now, turned his head. His dark, loving eyes locked onto hers. He looked at her so deeply it took her breath away, a soft, tender smile spreading across his face.

?He didn't say a word, but the deep devotion in his eyes promised her the exact same thing. Together, they were invincible.

They had dragged themselves out of the bloody depths of the dark, but they hadn't left their malice behind, they simply brought it into the light, ruling it with an iron fist.

This love was an impenetrable, lethal fortress.

If anyone was foolish enough to test them, it wouldn't just be a threat, it would be a death sentence, guaranteed to burn their entire world to absolute ashes.

?Holding her gaze, Aiden quietly mouthed "I love you."

?Anna's smile softened, her heart full as she mouthed back "I love you."
