Blurb

When a little kid with a dirt-smeared face and a stubborn attitude started following me around, I thought it’d be temporary.

I wasn’t the chattiest guy in my crew, and I figured she just needed someone to get her home safely. But she kept showing up. The longer I knew Frankie, the more I realized she needed more than that.

It wasn’t my place to get involved. She had a gorgeous social worker looking out for her, and I had my own shit to deal with. I was the last person who should’ve been responsible for a kid.

Still, I couldn’t make myself let her down. I promised I’d show up for her. The kid deserved at least that. So how the hell did I end up being the one she counted on?
