CHAPTER 25
Tyson
Tyson paced the deck, waiting for Gabrielle to come home. Heshan left a few minutes ago after spilling the beans about Gabrielle’s plans. It bothered Tyson that she’d kept her dinner with Dilvan a secret.
Was it any of his business what Gabrielle was doing?
He thought so.
He cared for her, and had been taking care of her for three and a half months. He was falling for her. And he had a serious dislike of Dilvan.
If he touched a single hair on her head...
Tyson watched as a taxi pulled up next to his car. Gabrielle emerged from the back seat.
A taxi?
She decided to get a taxi rather than call him?
As he watched her climb the stairs to the deck, he wondered if that’s why she dressed so nicely today and why she had her hair straightened. She was preparing to see Dilvan tonight. The effort she put into it made his nostrils flare.
“Hey, why didn’t you call me? I told you I would pick you up?”
“It’s okay. You do enough for me already, Tyson.”
Tyson’s jaw tightened as he followed her into the house. “How did it go today?” he managed to force out.
“It went well.”
She took a bottle of water from the fridge. He wanted her to tell him about her dinner with Dilvan without having to ask about it. Why wasn’t she forthcoming about where she’d been? Why was she being secretive?
“Is everything going well with the fall garden plans?” he inquired.
“Yep. Perfect,” Gabrielle replied. After meeting with Dilvan, she wasn’t exactly in the mood to talk.
That didn’t bode well for Tyson, but he still stood there, waiting for her to give him something. Anything akin to a conversation would be great right about now.
She looked up at him after placing the bottle on the table. “Is something wrong?” she asked.
He shrugged his large shoulders and said, “You tell me.”
She looked puzzled for a moment and then said, “I’ve had a long day, Tyson. I think I’m just going to go to bed.”
Tyson’s frustration intensified when he watched her walk away.
He cared for this woman, and she was having dinner with Dilvan, seemingly behind his back.
As much as he liked Gabrielle, he wouldn’t stand in her way if she really wanted to be with Dilvan, but for the life of him, he couldn’t figure out why she would do that to herself.
